Wayne Co returns all there kids except for one and Knox Co does also. johnson Central I dont think will be as good as last year

Johnson Central does have some big shoes to fill but I certainly believe they are working on those issues. Joe Jackson could possibly be one of the best running backs in eastern KY and maybe the state. I watched this kid play in freshman, JV and some varsity games and is he definitely for real. Trevor May could possibly step up and be a really good number 2 back. The QB position is something they will have to deal with as the season goes on. I believe they only lost 2 offensive lineman so they should be good on the Oline. JCs defensive should be a mirror image of last year. They play a tough schedule this year from what I am hearing, but I believe they will close to deal this year and win their first state championship.

My only comment is why would anyone sign a 4 year contract?

I haven't had the opportunity to watch the Jackson kid since middle school but he was amazing to watch. I don't know if I would compare him to the Jude kid that played in the past but he is very good. I was able to watch JC play a couple times last year and if they didn't lose a lot they will be very good again this year and look for them to make a long playoff run. Very good defense and now with possibly one of the best running backs they have had in a while.
As much as I would like my Bull Dawgs to be able to compete when you talk about the best in eastern KY it is without question the Pirates and the Eagles. The two best programs in eastern KY

Will JC be able to successfully throw the ball this year for significant yards?

IMO, on paper, the 2016 regular season schedule will be the hardest any JC team has ever played. (Capital, South Charleston, Lexington Catholic & Belfry)
If you factor in the opposing D-1 level players/commits, state championship teams & state championship appearance teams from the previous season.
This will probably never happen, but I would love to see Trinity or St. Xavier come rolling in to Johnsonville for a regular season game.

I believe those weak schedules back in the day hurt when playing Highlands and Covington Catholic in the playoffs.

I am going to say this as diplomatically as possible....
The districts (4A & 5A) JC has been in over the past eleven years has been weak.
The only district teams JC have lost to are Ashland & Woodford County, and that was in different seasons.
So when you are playing 4 or 5 district games a year, the majority of the quality games are at the beginning of the season. Playing not-so-quality teams closer to playoff time isn't a good combination.
To JC's credit, we have played some quality teams (Boyle County X2, Louisville Central, Bell County X2) in their state championship season, or one season removed when the contract was signed.
South Warren had much better team speed and had more athletes (not so much better players) on the field than we did last year in the state finals. It was a great learning experience for our players and coaches.

Johnson Central will always be a good "mountain" football team and nothing more until they develop at least a halfway decent passing game. The belly offense is good against teams that lack the strength/athleticism to stop it but when you meet up with a team that is capable of plugging up the gaps, no matter how well Central can block they're going to run into trouble. It is also a poor way of preparing kids for the next level. JC always has great teams but how many of the players actually do well in college? I would love to see the focus directed more on preparing young athletes for the next level vs. seeing how many rushing yards you can obtain in one season.

There was a guy named Woody Hayes that said it way before Musick....

Smashmouth football -- whatever that is -- only gets you so far. Well, unless the KHSAA redistricts your way to Bowling Green.

When schools elect to play up in class when it isn't necessary, you fault the team that stays where they are supposed to be according to male enrollment? Gotta love that logic.

What about teams that try to move because they can't beat the smaller schools?

You keep repeating the same old stuff " only gets you so far" but you never define the "how far" . First it was get past Highlands, and CC. I believe JC have a winning record with CC. JC never got by Highlands but neither did anyone else in the state. Last year JC was in the state finals.
I believer if you look at Belfry they threw about as much as JC does. What is the ceiling on them.
Does it make it harder to win big game being mainly one dimensional but in high school and college it had been successful.
Just makes you look dumb when you make such statements.

I have been told by several people Johnson Central is going to be bigger and more athletic than last years team. I have talked to a couple of people close to the program and they are expecting a lot from the Jackson kid this year. I maybe wrong but I believe they return just about everyone on what was a great defense. (Someone please correct me if I am wrong).

JC as ( Belfry has proven ) can win at a high level with a strong running game. Period

I like the schedule but I think in the future I would drop blefry.
Because it's a no win situation if you beat them their hole team was sick or hurt so I would replace them , or if I did play them move the game to week 4 play a real good passing team in week 9 or 10 to get ready for the play offs,

Playing Belfry playing earlier in the year would be better....
It's a tough road to play Ashland and Belfry in back to back weeks before the playoffs start.

I observed Johnson Centrals schedule a few minutes ago. They may have one of the toughest schedules I have seen in a while. If they can get through the schedule injury free it should prepare them well for a long run in the playoffs. I expect to see this team back in the state championship game. Looking at their roster I still think QB is a big question, hopefully they have been working with one in the offseason. The running backs probably being the Jackson kid and not sure about the other. They look like they have their fullback coming back. I believe the offensive line will be much improved as well.
It doesn't look like a lot will change on defense they didn't lose a lot, they have two really good linebackers that could play at the next level Wilcox and Tyler Patrick.
