mysonis55 Wrote:Here is the way I see this, if all the talent from Beechwood returns. I say this because, there most talented players are looking at impressive baseball scholarships and may not play football because of that. This was the rumor, even before Mayfield played them. If those return this is how I see things at this point.
1) Beechwood
2) Raceland
3) Russellville
4) Williamsburg
5) Hazard
6) Frankfort
7) Holy Cross
8) Paintsville
9) Pikeville
10) Bellevue
Others to be mentioned; Crittendon County, Fairview, Campbellsville and Ky Country Day.
I know this is different than I originally put out on this thread. However, that was a few months ago and some things have changed. Look for Crittendon County to be the surprise of this bunch though. They have been down for a long time, however their coach has been grooming this young bunch of kids that I think now will be juniors and sophomores. They should be getting about ready for the challenge.
You are way off thinking Paintsville will be that low. Raceland is about right and Paintsville in knocking on there door. Hazard, Pikeville Russellville are next, Hazard Recieved a solid running back and his brother a solid lineman who will help out tremendously. They may of lost Morgan to transfer but they are not dry at QB as Senior Cole Ratliff will take over unless the freshmen Bailey Blair wins the job. Very deepfreshmen class coming in. Frankfort is next in line because they will have some good skill players back but there line will be the key to there success. Fairview Williamsburg, Campbellsville and Holy Cross are next and should be on the same level but can beat anybody if the others are playing bad. Beechwood is at top but they are not head and shoulders better than the rest like Mayfield has.

I gotta agree. I usually agree with 55 but got to disagree with putting Beechwood as the odds on favorite by a longshot. Are they my pre number one? Absolutley. Even with Hazard 2011 and Wburg 2014 on the list, Beechwood is the only team who has hug with Mayfield consistently in the most recent, past alignment. Williamsburg managed to stifle the Raceland passing game, that game was only 14-0 with 8 minutes left in the game, then the Rams simply seemed to give up when the Jackets went up 21-0. With that said, many argue that Beechwood was the best team in the west all season except in the semis. Atleast from a comparative standpoint, Beechwood is goina come in as around a 2-3 Td favorite against Raceland, when comparing 1v2. Imo, a 2-3 score ball game isnt a blow out. So putting them way ahead of the reat of the field, this early, imo is a bit premature.

Scotty_Bronson don't get carry away with Raceland :please: Last year Williamsburg left 3Td inside the 2yd line or this game would have been a running clock. Did you know Williamsburg 2 starting LB didn't even play in the Williamsburg vs Raceland. I do wish Raceland bests of luck next year....hh: Williamsburg maybe hosting playoffs. :worthy:

I forgot Scotty_Bronson LB Jefferson Patrick did try to play one series. :betterthanexpected:

I guess Raceland's defense didnt have anything to do with those stops. I have given Wburg plenty of credit. They shocked the entire state minus their faithful fans in BG. Im just saying that the gap is narrowed and the west isnt the heads and shoulders above the East any more. With that said, Wburg should be fine this comig season. Lots of teams lost a big chunk of tallent. Goina be fun to see how it all pans out.

:please: don't take my comments wrong Scotty_Bronson....No matter who come out of the east I will be on board in the end....I just have a small feeling Williamsburg is going to be my sleeper team this year. nicker: Raceland should be rank #1 in the east. Heck Williamsburg lost a lot.

We all lost alot in reality. What Raceland returns in the backfield and the entire front 7, plus the SS and Nickle/Dime defender coming back(will probably play CB), is what has everyone feeling good about the upcoming season. We may end up looking like a spread out Belfrey by the time August rolls around though. We still dont have a clear front runner for QB. Christian, Black, Caldwell, and possibly a new/old player are all in conversation undercenter. Who knows lol.

I will just put it this way, if Beechwood gets all those baseball players back at the start of next season, I will revisit this. I would be willing to make a friendly avatar wager that they beat whoever comes out of the east by 3 or more scores. You don't have to agree just be prepared to put up or shut up.

Like I said, no need to agree all the time. Doesnt matter. Beechwood should flurish in this alignment, but with Williamsburg's showing in the title, it gives me hope that the gap is closing. This alignment allows for better competition i each class. Though it has more to do with the schools numbers, I think the KHSAA has got the best alignment this year, since 6 classes were put in place.

I believe I may take that bet

BAC you would look good with a Cardinal avatar. Scotty the gap didn't close. We had a perfect snow storm there. We had a jr and sr dominated east team that had just been smacked around the year before at state. We had an almost brand new Cards team that started 1 fr and a lot of soph. We had a hungry east team with a bitter taste in their mouths from getting beat badly by the Cards. We had a slightly over confident young bunch of Cards, I know this as a fact. I spent a whole week trying to convince 1 that they weren't already champs. The east team played out of their mind good to try for the upset. We had a west team that thought the could show up and get the trophy. Therefore they didn't even start to play until they were looking at a scoreboard that said they were in a 10 point hole. You claim to have played ball, therefore, you know football much like baseball, is a lot mental.
03-19-2015, 01:26 PM
It is a primarily mental game. Especially at the high school level. More than anything, your last comment solidified what I have been thinking. High school kids live in the moment 99% of the time, but for some reason, especially in sports, when a team reaches a certain level, other kids begin to look at them as untouchable, unbeatable, and other wordly. I heard it from Raceland kids last year, I also heard it from kids from Williamsburg and Hazard (traveling down south alot I always go through the town and make a point to speak with any football players I may come across). They talked about how the 2014 championship game gave them a new look on the west. Sure it may take a perfect storm as you put it, but the simple fact is, these eastern kids realized that it could be done. Williamsburg should have won that game last year, the Cards made enough adjustments at the end, and because they had been there before, they didnt get rattled. The gap has closed, you will see.

Nobody asked me, but from my limited knowledge id say that beechwood team will be significantly better. By looking at past comments on last seaons threads everyone claimed Williamsburg was so much better than the year before, because of so many starters returning. If so why would anyone think that beechwood wouldn't be better since they return a lot from a good team, and plus I heard scotty himself say all the eastern teams lost a lot of there talent.

So you seem to think its Morris, Christian, or throw in the towel on a meaningful season? Defensively will will be tough. The offense just needs to be consistent and opportunistic.
03-19-2015, 04:11 PM
In other words, the QB shouldnt have a hell of a whole lot of pressure on them.
03-19-2015, 04:21 PM
No I'm saying if Caldwell or black are playing qb there will be zero threat of a passing game and if your gonna win deep in the playoffs you can't just be a run team , and no I don't think Morris is a good option either you can't sit out 4 years and expect to play at a high level especially qb , I think Carson is the best option , that would make Bailey and Kane the running backs if not Carson Nathaniel would be my choice both Carson and Nathaniel have varsity experience both started defense last year and Carson started offense as well , which is why I think he's a better choice over Nathaniel . The other's have zero varsity experience
03-19-2015, 08:02 PM
I get what ur sayig about Black and Caldwell at QB. But Christians only varsity time at QB came from his Frosh ear in clean up duty. Now, imo, he is the most ready simply because of his experience this year as one of the primary running backs, especially late in the season and playoffs. Caldwell made some mistakes off the field that limited his experience last season. But early on, he was one of a handful of recievers getting alot of reps. I do however , feel Christian may be the best option, BUT, it would just yet again be another Sr QB that is in for 1 year. I would like to see us get someone in there that can utilize the experienced line and backfield to build confidence and not have to rely souly on his arm to live and die off of offensively. Someone that we can get two years out of. I do know, from speaking with coaches, that Caldwell is being looked at as a more "Messer-Esk" player, not saying that he has the same skill set as Connor , but in regaurd to Nick playing multiple positions offensively. I dont think Nathaniel will be used at QB. He was in Jr High, along wit Nick, but he did more with his legs than his arm. Im also not convinced that Morris will play football next year. His future is on the baseball field and would hate to see another Adam Woods situation from years ago. Adam had a great baseball career ahead of him, with a great selection of pitches to go along with a upper 80s/90 mph fastball. He broke his wrist /arm in football season and never fully recovered. With all these questions though, i have an enormous amount of confidense in the Raceland staff and know that the best option will be there and whoever it is has a great QB coach in Grizzle. With what we return, we wont be "in trouble" in any way.

Ur right. Nobody did ask u....thats the beauty of it though lol. Too many of us get testy and moody. If Beechwood returns everyone the should and dont lose anyone to Baseball, they should be the favorite by 2-3 TDs come december. But if they find themselves looking to replace them, it can be any of top 4 or 5 teams winning the title next year, with no real favorite among the top 4, imho.

Lynn Camp will win the title trust me, sophomore back, emerging as the most dominate back in ky. History. People will hear his name soon.

Ill take beechwood over the field now that the "field" has moved to 2a. A lot of studs returning for the wood.

Killbilly you know nothing about football and it shows with your prediction. Fulton City has a better chances than overrated beechwood

I don't get the Wburg should have won stuff. It seems we had the 8 point lead in the 4th and they had to come back. We still didn't show the blazing Tyler at WR or the wildcat where he throws to the wide open Bright. Coach was holding a bunch back and played kind of cautiously. I think he figured going to OT was to our benefit because we had already been there and our boys just wouldn't quit. I would have liked to have seen a Wburg and Beechwood game after our game. I wonder which one would be saying they should have won that game after they lost. We sure have heard enough of it. I remember that happening a lot though. 2010 we killed Hazard. All we heard was about us getting the turnovers and we shouldn't have won like that. 2012 all we heard was how the game would have went if Fairview didn't have so many turnovers. 2013 we heard that the burg just had the punt blocked and turnovers, they were better than what showed. 2014 we beat Bwood on the field and hear how they should have beat us. We beat the burg on the field and have to hear how they should have won.
