I think he will be ok granny. Games like tonight keeps kids humble.

He didn't drop enough and that's all that matters.

I thought the Refs where garbage in this game and I do believe this had an impact on the game with how clays guards where allowed to guard.
Yes Smith had an off night it happens to all players but the key is clay still found a way to win. Congrats to Ryan House, game of his career. Glad to see this kid playing well.
Farmer has 2 at Half and Smith has zero yet The TIGERS still find a way to win. Tell me another team that could have there 2 stars stink up the gym like that and still beat a better than average team.

Corbin just seemed to run out of gas playing against bigger more athletic players. Tony P. gave them a chance to win. Farmer took over down the stretch and scored 10 or 12 points in last 6 minutes. Smith struggled tonight but Clay has a bunch of kids who can pick them up. Taylor showed he can play. Maguet had a good game. Hopper struggled shooting the ball but played well other thhan that.

Taylor has a lot of pressure on him to score for his team, Clay has 5 that can score that makes them the better team. Nobody in this region can handle Taylor heads-up as anybody could see tonight. Farmer saved the tigers tonight in the 2nd half he took over the game. House played good the whole game. Congratulations to the Tigers

OKAY YOU READY FOR TAYLORS LINE since you think it was all world...wait for it...wait for it....17 pts on 18 fg att. Now that's impressive. Kid is talented no doubt but doesn't make anyone around him better, and takes some horrible shots.
03-07-2015, 07:35 AM
Was surprised at halftime score...Clay can pull out the wins though.

Congrats to the CC Tigers!

I joke a lot on BGR but you will never here me talk bad or negative about any highschool player in Kentucky or any other state. GO eastern Kentucky basketball :truestory:
I don't see anything wrong with any comments on here. But I also don't believe that all kids should get trophies and ribbons just so Little Johnnys feelings doesn't get hurt. Taylor is talented sure, Smith is talented sure, Farmer is talented sure, But all of these kids have holes in there game some just bigger than others. IF a kid never hears what he is weak at then he will never fix it or work on it. But what do I know I'm old fashion.

Stats don't lie folks. And it goes for both teams. Taylor is very talented but he didn't dominate this game the way some think. Taylor needs some help on this team period.

Clay County may have played the worst half of Basketball in Clay Co. Basketball History. 1st half was just awful. Hats off to Corbin on Game Plan and coming out and playing with some energy. Taylor is a very good player, I felt like he forced some shots. Smith played the worst he has played in a long time. The name of game at tourney time is Win and move on. Clay did that. Good Luck in rest of the Tourney.

fairgame Wrote:If Taylor didn't show you anything, I would hate to hear what you think of everyone on Clays team tonight not named House. Taylor clowned Clay pretty bad the whole first half. They had to take Smith off Taylor early because he couldn't guard Taylor and picked up some fouls trying. Taylor has to be a "volume" shooter, because he is their only real scoring threat. Clays mvp tonight was Brad Sizemore. Without him running House off to Clay, they don't win tonight.
This statement right here kills me, any kid in the state that is half way decent can get you 20 pts on 20 att. Any of Clays starters would get 20 a night if they took 20 shots. Now I do agree that Taylor is there only real threat, but the kid had 17 pts. It wasn't like he scored 35 or 40. Nice player and if he puts in the work and develops a outside shot kid could be special.
By far was the worst performance from Smith that I have seen, but when you have 2 and 3 guys waiting for you then I guess it would be hard for anyone. I will say this He is still most skilled player on that floor tonight, just had a bad game.
Clay plays team ball and never pushed the issue or freaked out. They have a winning mentality and it showed tonight. When you can survive and win with Farmer and Smith having an off night, yes Farmer too all of his came late at the free throw line. Then that says a lot about Clays team.

2 or 3 was waiting on taylor when he beat whoever out front too. taylor made whoever guard him look silly out front. He did force 5 or 6 shots in the lane. I was very surprised smith couldnt stay with him.

topnotch Wrote:Walter what people would look at Clay and say they didn't have a chance to win the region? You are beginning to sound like me. What other team can beat them?
Just trying to keep it real. I ain't a sunshine pumper. Knox beat em at Knox so they have already done it once. That's the only game and team to think about at this point. Look ahead, you hang up your stuff. I do think Clay will rebound with a much better game tonight. And I am a little puzzled by Corbin's inability to hold on to a comfortable second half lead. Thought they played a little too fast for the situation.

I don't think I saw the same game as some of you guys. I saw Farmer take control and with out that, Corbin wins. I didn't see Clay have A bad night, I saw Corbin's speed and quickness, I didn't see Taylor take to many shots, I saw Taylor not take enough shots. I saw both teams slug it out and Corbin play with more success than maybe any game they have played. I saw A very good Clay team just flat out beat Corbin. Both teams gave us a hell of A game. congrats To Clay and you all in Corbin got A great effort from some fine athletes.

It says Clay had a lot of trouble beating the 50th districts 4th seed with a 2-7 record in that district.!

Mainly it says Clay County plays Knox Central tonight in the semifinals.

It is same old story, If A kid gets 40 points he is great, in the next game if that kid gets 11 or 12 he played the worst game of the season, No one ever gives any defensive player any credit.

Where Taylor's concerned...
Haters are gonna Hate
Players are gonna Play
Play on Taylor! You are a great player.

May not see two better games than those two last night. Corbin had control most of the game, but the House kid was outstanding for Clay Co. Never thought I would see the day a Corbin team plays slow ball. Great job by both teams.

Wish I would have stayed and watched more of this game. Way to come back Clay.

I agree, just think if he had a big man, such as Rice, to dump it to on those drives. The post player would get 5 or 6 easy looks a game and it would also make it easier on Taylor to score.

Shame Rice was in London with Collier.

Rice def screwed up leaving. IMO but the kid was gonna have to get tougher if he was gonna play for coach P

Farmer beyond a doubt is the heart and soul of Clay County. He is the engine that makes them go. His size and skill set causes mismatches which makes every body else better.
03-07-2015, 05:49 PM
He may not do A lot of things right, I DON"T KNOW, with out Farmer last night CC could break out the baseball bats today.
03-07-2015, 06:50 PM
All of these comments help emphasize the fact that Clay County is very difficult to play. They have a team in every sense of the word. Just look at last night. House is the leading scorer, Farmer with his usual big game. Everybody picking up Smith on an off night. Guys like Wolfe and Sexton playing steady and stepping up big when needed. The bench has come up big on several occassions throughout the year. You may not be a Tiger fan, but you have to say this team has a good team concept. And credit has to go to Coach Robert Marcum for putting it together.
03-07-2015, 07:14 PM
The slow play of Corbin told me what Corbin thought of Clay....Clay advances ,it doesn't matter who is the best individual . Those comments are usually left for the team that lost.
03-07-2015, 07:16 PM
You said it best, Walter this team really is all about get that W. I think they play much better team ball than last year's team. Defense is the Achilles. Only 2 real on ball defenders. And Smith picked up 3 of his fouls last night not even guarding his guy. Taylor made him pick up one and maguette made him pick up one the rest was on help defense and the T.
