2015 Class A Pre-Season Top 10
I dont think Pineville will have nearly enough to compete with the other top 5 in the east. There will be a revolving door of Raceland, Hazard, Pikeville, Paintsville and Williamsburg. Im not sure about the other schools but i know Raceland and Hazard both have had strong middle school teams over the last 3 or 4 years as well.
Raceland's year to make it to the carpet. Even with Messer graduating, 2015 team will be better.
I agree Herd. I think their are kids ready to step into rolls defensively that will make us good enough on that side of the ball to be in games. The only queation that remains is if our offense will be able to keep defenses honest. I think that due to our success running the ball last year, rushing for around 2,000 yds from the regular season Fairview game, through the Reginal Finals, our passing attack got very sketchy and there was absolutely no rhythm in it. Both Young and the recievers, even Messer seemed out of synch with eachother.

That will be our tale of the tape. Can we keep teams honest and not load the box, daring us to throw.
Lynn camp will be back on the map. They win the state next year mark it down
And the reason being?
Beechwood should take care of business this year.
You have to throw Pineville in the mix somewhere. Only lost 2 Seniors, return all but one skill player and return all linemen on both sides of the ball.

great new coach , record number of kids coming out with at least four really good players two all state caliber Next Damien harris hopefully tougher than harris though
Know one need to get carried away Williamsburg will win district......Jackets fever is still alive and well......I think :joystick:
Raceland, Paintsville, Pikeville, Williamsburg & Hazard will slug it out to represent the East.
These five teams on most years always seem to be in the mix, because they are well-coached, have great tradition, & great school / fan support.
Williamsburg lost everything Herron is done blew the title game last year his last chance

:truestory:
I highly doubt, with the new alignment, that Williamsburg has "had their last chance". They have had several good Jr High teams that should prosuce another good run in the next few years. I think they will struggle or "learn" alot over the first few weeks of the season, but should compete through the playoffs. Their schedule should provide good competition, a good blend of teams they should beat to gain confidence, as well as teams to challenge them.

The Lynn Camp thing is a toss up for me. "The next Damien Harris" comment, to me, at this point is laughable. If he truly is, dont expect to see him in Wburg for long. I think LC should be improved and over the next few seasons can compete for district championships. But imo, Wburg will take that district again this year and possibly next. Jackets loose alot, but return quite a bit of experiece as well.

Both schools have to deal with Pikeville and Hazard as well.
I feel the same way about Pineville.
Pretty good site, first time here. Like that it seems to encompass all the state, rather than just NKY although I live here now. Do have a little knowledge on BW (married a grad), they should be good but are replacing many pieces along both lines and their entire secondary, and as always the rumors are flying about the baseball kids not playing. Have been told it's a done deal that the Combs kid (UK commit) is out. Big loss if true, has started since playoffs frosh year and athletic 6'4 230 lb kids don't walk many 1a halls. Also heard the Stringer kid (Louisville commit) is done, but I don't buy it. Again, that combo of size and speed is a weapon in this class. Looks like he has way too much fun on the field. I think both Fieger and Slusher want to play college baseball, so this summer and fall may be crucial to their opportunities there as well. IMO Slusher is hands down the best player on that team, and one of the best football players in the state. Not to be redundant, but I don't thing there are many kids that play D as a LB and O as a WR, and has the speed to get deep at will. Obviously losing some or all of those four dramatically change the outlook for the Tigers.
Williamsburg’s Middle school hasn’t been beaten by Pineville, Harlan, or Lynn Camp the last couple seasons. I think it is safe to say they will when the district most years. But you never know a lot of factors can change..
Hey 1A fans Don't forget about Williamsburg......If you build it they will come. :runtouchd
Williamsburg wont be forgotten, but their hold on the East is lose. They return a good corps of LBs and solid skill guys that got alot of minutes, I think replacing their line will be a big factor and with the younger Sizemore now at Corbin (I believe), I doubt very seriously that they will have as good of a QB that have had the last 4 or 5 years, especially from an atheletic standpoint. They should win their district most years. But Lynn Camp has potential to build back up. Did Campbellsville move districts?
Sizemore did leave... But in know way will we be hurting at the QB Position after next season. The best athlete in the school is our Middle school QB. He just got done being the 7th grade Kentucky All-Star QB, were he lead them to a couple victories. Best Middle school QB that I have ever seen play. The future looks great for the burg with him at QB.

Pineville's middle school team beat Williamsburg pretty good about 2 years ago! Should be a good game next year between the two
Yeah Pineville beat them 3 seasons ago. But in the last 4 seasons it’s only been that one time. So when you combine all of these kids together you got to say it favors Williamsburg.
Middle school and high school are two different animals. But I will agree that 1 time doesn't beat 3 or more.
I agree that MS and HS r to different worlds, but if you look at it from a state wide stand point and kids come up together, it doesnt always change. Look at te last two graduating classes from Wburg and Raceland. Same kids for the most part, Wburg still had our number. But individually, success in Middle School doesnt always mean success at the next level. Much like any other change. Hs to college, college to pros...
I don't see anyone beating beechwood if feiger, stringer, and studer all still play. 1a is weak for sure, and now that Mayfield is in 2a it got even weaker.
I agree with that many things can change. Time will only tell.

I agree with this statement. Ive even heard Mayfield fans say there 2014 team wasn't as good as some of the other recent teams. Williamsburg returned everyone to a team that all there fans claimed was so much better than the previous years team. Add in all the Williamsburg fans claiming that there team was a lot closer to mayfields level in 2013 than the score indicated. If Williamsburg was close to as good as Mayfield was in 2013, and Mayfield lost all those starters, and had a young team, then Williamsburg should have manhandled them in 2014 with a senior heavy team, but blew it. Got to give a lot of credit to Mayfield to reload with youngsters, and leave class 1a with another title.
I don't believe that Williamsburg will be anything but average, you cannot lose that many seniors starters and be as good the next year. They had a special group the last couple years, you cannot replace players like that in the smaller classes. Look at Wayne co. having to rebuild this past year after their title run.
I have to agree with the Pineville faithful it should be their district this year. As for Lynn camp, hired a coach who as interim Head coach the team regressed, weakened their schedule to try to steal some wins, Good luck with the opening game against Larkey and Perry Co. Central. But none of them will compete with a Beechwood or Hazard.

The new district is still Williamsburgs to lose. But it will be competitive 3 ways because Harlan returns a good group of kids and a transfer in the Stapleton kid. So they can not be taken likely.

Studer has graduated. Do you mean Slusher?
Here is the way I see this, if all the talent from Beechwood returns. I say this because, there most talented players are looking at impressive baseball scholarships and may not play football because of that. This was the rumor, even before Mayfield played them. If those return this is how I see things at this point.

1) Beechwood

2) Raceland
3) Russellville
4) Williamsburg
5) Hazard
6) Frankfort
7) Holy Cross
8) Paintsville
9) Pikeville
10) Bellevue

Others to be mentioned; Crittendon County, Fairview, Campbellsville and Ky Country Day.

I know this is different than I originally put out on this thread. However, that was a few months ago and some things have changed. Look for Crittendon County to be the surprise of this bunch though. They have been down for a long time, however their coach has been grooming this young bunch of kids that I think now will be juniors and sophomores. They should be getting about ready for the challenge.
