Looks like the first order of business after hiring Creech was buying out the Johnson Central and Belfry games.
Pretty poor form on someone's account at Harlan County. Now those two schools who have desperately tried to build a competitive schedule are left high and dry. Wouldn't think you would want to burn bridges with arguably the two best programs in EKY.

JC and Harlan County signed a 4 year deal after the 2012 season. Still two years remaining.

This isn't completely accurate. I asked Coach Creech personally because I know how stories can get started. He is looking into the possibility of terminating one of those contracts, but not the other. I didn't ask him which one is in question.
Larkey was coaching for 4 years before he got either of these contracts. And 2012 was the first year either team was scheduled.
Harlan County has been rightfully criticized a great deal in the past few weeks. At least let Coach Creech get his feet wet before throwing more negativity toward him.

If we are buying out contracts, then we are not playing for championships.

Would not know the man if he knock on my door right now. What I do know if you start buying out contracts because you don't want to take losses, and the only reason you buy out contracts is, you don't want to take your but kickin. I can remember just a very short time ago when the Good people of Harlan Co. was crying that no one would play, and you guys was having to go to Tenn. and all over the place to find games. Must not be a problem now.JMO if you want to play for championships you have to play a tuff schedule.
02-12-2015, 04:12 AM
Harlan County will be playing a tough schedule, with or without Belfry and Johnson Central.
I don't think there was any question that the schedule last year was too tough. It did nothing to help Harlan County's chances of playing for a championship.

^^^^ Everyone is saying something about throwing the ball that's the whole point in this situation and that was funny. If Mr Creech starts dropping games it doesn't look good.

is coach larkey going to get the blame for everything and every post
if someone mentions throwing the ball, why is coach larkey brought up
coach larkey did a lot for harlan co and is now gone, i think we can quit refering to him now or thinking that we are refering to him

It doesnt matter what he does right now. He's got a plan and needs to be given the chance that any other coach needs. Whats funny is people cant distinguish the difference between being balanced and just throwing the ball all over the place. And they call this a football site. Pfft

when creech called the plays before he quit he was no more balanced than coach larkey was when he took back over
dropping games vs a good rival really tells a lot about him

Ok being balanced will bring Belfry and Johnson Central to its knees why drop them? Ironically Belfry and Johnson Central are two schools that primarily......wait for it....run right, run left and run up the middle with massive success.

I just seen the other thread. Hope it's all rumors.

No one on here knows for sure. The way I see it Harlan County hired Creech to run a program. Coaches knows the team, and he knows HC. If he thinks that it is best for them to find another game, then so be it. It is late in game but there are teams that still need games. He was hired to do what he thinks is best for the program, not satisfy Belfry or JC..... or anyone on this message board. I do not believe any of this 4 year contract stuff. 2 year contracts are what is signed, I looked on the KHSAA website. Now if Larkey and Haywood verbally agreed ...Larkey is gone. If Creech wants to play someone else play them. He is the one that will answer to the powers when they start to talk about wins and loses. And that is all that matters......Look what happened to Larkey for going 2-9.

Agree to an extent. If the season wasnt so far along then I would understand getting out of a contract. I feel this late in the year that dropping an opponet and leaving them out to dry looking for a game is poor sportsmanship and morally wrong, it not only hurts the other teams but leaves other schools and administrators thinking how untrustworthy a school is and is likely to never help them in other matters.
