Clay Co 66 Jackson Co 60
#31
This game had nothing to do with how Smith was played, guarded by jackson. His game had to do with coaching. You can say what u want I was there I seen it with my 2 on eyes I know 90 % of clays plays when Marcum calls them out. MARCUM didn't run any offense to him what so ever. Now he could have been selfish and just drove it in anyway but he ran whatever he called.
#32
And I agree 100% if Smith and Farmer don't get 40 pts between them we will get thumped the next 4 games.
#33
And whoever thinks Smith doesn't shoe up in the stat line is an idiot . One of the best all around games not just in the region but I'm the state. He leads clay in at least 5 categories
#34
Maybe Marcum wanted to see what would happen in game were nothing went through Smith? I don't know but I can't imagine Smith doing anything to warrant the few shot attempts. If it happens against Wayne then we can talk. Until it happens more than once I wouldn't sweat it. It was probably a lot harder on the people that were there because well, Jackson led almost the entire game. I'm okay with a 6 point win on a team that gives you everything they have on the road. These teams are throwing everything at us because we are Clay County. It's almost the high school equivalent of Kentucky. You will get everyone's best shot.

bballfan20 Wrote:My opinion on Clay Co is every team has figured out Smith...if you keep him from getting to the rim or pulling up in the paint he has a hard time scoring. ..he is not a very good shooter at all ...he will hit a few but not enough to beat you from out of the paint.......fact of the matter is that FARMER AND WOLFE are the men for BIG CLAY to win the region......hard to stop farmer from anywhere on the floor and Wolfe is just a hard nose player .......if smith ant dunking or scoring he don't even show up on stats

Go ask Broughton where he shows up on the stat sheet. And I agree it's hard to stop Trey on the offensive end but a good 6th grader could score on him. Bball it's obvious you have not watched Clay much.

I'll say this then I'm done. What makes Clay so tough is that they don't panic and quit or shy away from big moments. If Robert coaches this team and keeps the outside noise out CC will be fine. Dont know what was going on last night but if it happens like that against a better than average team we are beat. This team seems to play well together and not have chemistry issues. They have 5 guys who get double figures on you. And you have to chose which player your not gonna let beat you.

Call to CC fans on here. R E L A X!!! We are CC.
 Smith may not score another bucket this year but we are loaded and will be FINE.
#37
This was a good learning experience.....there may be a time in the tourney when Smith goes down or is in foul trouble and only scores single digits....the other guys will have to step up and this is what they did against Jackson....

Amen to Count and CCHS

Farmer played very good second half and showed a lot of patience early. The attention he draws and still finding variety of different ways to score is impressive. Wolfe and Smith will be fine and no worries bout them.

I wasnt saying the offense shouldnt go through farmer or smith, clay county has to be balanced to beat good teams though. Marcum has his work cut out for him this is a hard group to coach so many attitudes and "i gotta get mine". If clay plays team ball there going to be hard to beat but last night looked like thy had north laurel syndrome.

In the words of Coach Cal, "Clutter".

Uhh, Smith took 5 shots. House took 5 shots. Neither looked upset.

It's not the players that were upset I'm sure
#44
TCREEK. I was there and saw nothing but smiles from the CC faithful. It was a meaningless game so people have to talk about something I guess.
#45
It's about winning!!!!
CC just enjoy watching a great team with excellent chemistry play. Don't let others try to mess that up.. I really like watching clay play and coaches coach their heart out.

^^^^^^^
Finally a voice of reason. Thank you.
#47
Not saying anyone was upset but some comments suggest a few was. Btw I was there tooooo

I feel the same way. You can't love basketball and not enjoy watching Clay County play. The tradition of that school is something no other team in 13th Region has. I always support my school, but if they can't win, Clay is the team I want representing our region.

Here's something for guys to think and comment about.
Maybe Marcum and Smith are working on different things in Smiths indivual game and in doing so fostering even more chemistry with the rest of the team. I personally don't think there are any issues with this group but I'm just a fan of CC,Marcum and Smith.

Good comment. Maybe playing for down the road and guess with recent sucess we have to put trust in staff

Where are the chemistry issues? The only thing I've noticed with this team is that they play well together. All of a sudden after this game, people start commenting on it. Is it parents? The last thing they need is fans to break them down. If there aren't any legitimate issues, why is it even being talked about? It's like Tiger fans are the ones wanting something to talk about. I would expect a rival school to do that.
#52
Thank you UKCC. you said what I wouldn't.
#53
I just don't get what could've happened in one game that made everyone go crazy. I've saw no team issues, of course I wasn't at the Jackson game but still.
#54
North Laurel has issues.......Clay has 0 issues....these kids love to play and win...which is what they do.....I would hate to see people if we lose.......WOW

A loud "Amen"!

Not chemistry issues, our offense just looked non existent ..come down shoot, come down shoot. Then attitude problems like punching chairs and arguing with staff when subbed out. Needs cleaned up is all im saying. theyll be a game that those contested threes dont fall. Im not trashing any kids i thought we could come here and talk about the game didnt mean to seem like a downer. Sorry if it offended anyone.
#57
See, I wasn't at this game so as far as being mad about subbing out I can't say anything about. I've not seen or heard that until now. If so, I agree that needs cleaned up.
#58
Fighting Tiggers seem to find a way to win. That is a mark of a good team.
#59
Little early for fishing, but I think some have already started trolling.

This is nothing. I started for CC for four years and got Benched one time. As I went to the bench I kicked Larry S. in the face then give Mike W. a back handed smack and just to get my point across I took my boot knife to Coach Keith. A TIGER doesn't like being in a cage. :gtfo:
