Belfry vs. Central Class 3A State Championship
RunItUpTheGut Wrote:Corbin and Harlan County both suck.

The two of you could team up to create a suckpar team.

When we start getting some of our players back from Wburg Whitley will dominate you knuckleheads.

And how is this related to the Belfry/Central thread? Or are you privileged to do just what you want to do?
RunItUpTheGut Wrote:Honest question for the Belfry faithful. If you win does it really count? You did lose to Pikeville.

All trolling aside. I told my nephew (who plays), the night of the Pikeville lose that it didn't matter if they won the 3A to 6A Title that the lose would never be let go of. That it would be brought up every time the trophy was mentioned. But, to answer the question. Heck yeah it will count!!!:1:

75 years from now the Pikeville faithful will brag about that one in 50 win over the West Virginia State Champs of 2014

It wouldn't have been as bad had Pikeville actually been good and made it out of region Confusednicker:

Doesn't that make it worse that a 1A team beat you and are sitting at home? Pikeville ain't good enough to win 1A but could be 3A state champs :hilarious:
Well, anything can happen on a given Friday night......for those still playing, of course.

Nope. It just means Pikeville played a good games against belfry for once out of the last 13 years.
The Central player that has jumped out to me so far watching highlights aside from Beason and Norfleet is Clavon Armstrong. He only has 26 Catches for 376 yards on the year but he may create some mis-match problems for Belfry.

He's got the best size of their receivers and seems to have the best athleticism and the most physicality of the lot. He is their best deep threat and has ability to make circus catches. He is also a viable threat in the kick return game and hurt South Warren with that aspect last week.

I anticipate Taylor will draw that assignment an should have ample speed to stay with him. The Belfry kick coverage needs t know he is not a guy you simply hit on returns and expect to go down. His game is kind of the style of a Dez Bryant... not really the guy they are looking to for a 10 yard gain... he is the guy they set up for the deep ball. Whatever side of the field he is lined up on is also the best bet they run to if they are trying to get outside.
Defensively Aaron Duncan (#8) looks good. He had the key strip vs. South Warren that led to the TD. Also had a fumble recovery himself and an INT.

Not the same style of player as Francis, Styles, Patterson, Wilson, etc...but still very good. He is undersized but very instinctive and heady. What made the past central backers so good was they were so tough to block and could close a play down in a hurry with their speed... Duncan can be blocked... but he seems to be more adept at finding ways to create fumbles.

Belfry has to be sure to keep both hands on the football around him..especially when fighting for extra yards.
Where's CoachDad? He was always active in prior Belfry/Central threads.

He is waiting for someone to disrespect Central first... or he is waiting for the poll to be a massive percentage in favor of Belfry... then he will be up in here playing the "Nobody wants Central to win"... "Might as well not play the game".... and/or "Might as well mail the trophy to Belfry" card.

Big Grin

I kid of course... but when Coachdad is actually talking football he knows more than most on this site... hopefully he will hop in here now and give us the breakdown of what brought this Central team to the Finals!

And I've never really public ally announced it but , 4 years ago my son was a high school player & for people on here to not publicly admonish my son I kept our relationship anonymous , but you've actuall heard less from me as the last 4 years have gone by , that's because I've been following my sons career at UL were has started the last 4 years traveling to most all the road games as well as every last home game since he was offered a scolly as a soph.
He had a stellar career winning a sugar bowl a rab bowl being named big east all conf, (hon men) as a sophomore. , being named 1st team all AAC as a junior , and now 2nd team all ACC as a senior graduating in less than 2 weeks from now .friends I brag not but I am overjoyed with the success my son has had as student athlete and wanted to share all this with my bgr family, because as the seasons go by I have a feeling I will not get to see my Yellowjackets as much , for my family and I are about to embark on yet another episode of this football Odyssey I travel.i am the proud dad of Jamon Brown #79 !

My son played against him. He was a great athlete and had a great college career. You have the right to be proud of him. Again congrats from Belfry 16 then and 44 now. I am sure he will have great success in life.
Who did your son play for ?

I think Coachdad's son played at Fern Creek if I am not mistaken.

I am transitioning to college football, too Coachdad, so I can relate a little to what you are saying.
Congratulations to your son on a stellar career, and you certainly do have a right to be proud of that young'un!
Good luck to him and his career; safe travels as you follow him!!

Now that is something to be proud of that very few people in the State of Kentucky can even come close to relating to!

I wish you and your son nothing but the best! Hope he gets drafted high and makes a NFL roster!
Thanks to everyone for your words of encouragement ,
I was asking the other poster where his son played because the previous poster is correct my son played at Fern Creek, not Louisville Central .
I looked him up since you shared his name! Good looking young man, and a multitude of complimentary comments!!
Good luck granny I hope god blesses y'all real good !
