Paintsville Tigers 2015
#61
Old Ball Coach Wrote:I like the Tiger offense better with Daniel as an H-back and Miller at QB. Not a lot of drop-off (if any) passing the ball, and a huge gain in the receiving and running game with Daniel blocking on the edge, and still getting his carries. Opens it up for Wildcat sets too.

Great idea if Paintsville could platoon offense and defense. I'll disagree with the arm strength in passing for sure and the type of physicality the position requires plus just not enough athletes to endure multiple offensive sets.

Actually, he was pretty accurate. Pikeville was 18-1 against Paintsville since 1998 before this playoff loss. Additionally Paintsville hadn't won before 1998 for another 15 years or so. Of course we saw that it didn't mean anything in the playoffs...

1999 Pikeville 49, Paintsville 11
1999 Pikeville 41, Paintsville 15 (playoffs)
2000 Pikeville 27, Paintsville 8
2000 Pikeville 22, Paintsville 0 (playoffs)
2001 Paintsville 28, Pikeville 6
2002 Pikeville 35, Paintsville 20
2003 Pikeville 41, Paintsville 6
2004 Pikeville 50, Paintsville 15
2005 Pikeville 20, Paintsville 14
2006 Pikeville 33, Paintsville 12
2007 Pikeville 20, Paintsville 0
2007 Pikeville 55, Paintsville 0 (playoffs)
2008 Pikeville 22, Paintsville 12
2009 Pikeville 56, Paintsville 6
2010 Pikeville 52, Paintsville 3
2011 Pikeville 62, Paintsville 8 (playoffs)
2012 Pikeville 63, Paintsville 24 (playoffs)
2013 Pikeville 28, Paintsville 21
2014 Pikeville 62, Paintsville 8

I believe the last three were 1986, 2001, 2014. Hopefully the trend stays true and the next L is in 2025 .

The Paintsville schedule is much improved, with more "name" programs. Even when a team like Harlan is down, it still seems like a bigger game than one of the Carters or Morgan County. The Tigers will be battle tested and see a multitude of looks to prepare for their best shot at a title game in decades.

Sorry 18-2 I guess that make it much better>

I think the schedule upgrade will help them tremendously as long as they can stay healthy through it all.

I like the platoon system, but Idk if any of the eastern 1A schools could pull it off due to numbers. Even if you have guys playing out of position (ie a Kid that usually would play RB only playing DB or LB), I dont think Raceland could even do it with a 50-60 mand roster year in and year out. It may be a possibilty to do in groups like NCC did from 200-2006. That was the difference in that NCC/RACELAND region semi game. NCC had not only two seperate DL/OL that year, but in the second half they had fresh legs on the line. That 06 NCC team was loaded with lineman. But with so many kids in single A going bith ways, idk if platooning is possible.

I live in Lawrence County but I keep up with the Johnson County Elementary schools sports, and this year I watched 3 or 4 paintsville high school games. What will they be like next year ?
#69
They got alot coming back. But loose 2 key backs in Belcher and Hendricks, even though Donte had limited game action this year do to his transfering, he was a key addition late in the season. Paintsville should be a good team next year, especially if they switch things up and let Miller run the offense and move Kash to RB.

2015 could be Paintsville's break out year but after this year they have a lot to focus on. Raceland and Fairview will be very strong again and in all areas. Very tough schedule as well but if they can stay healthy and win some if those games it will serve them well moving into the playoffs.

Belcher will be the tough one to replace but hopefully Phelps will be ready to fill that slot and have as a productive season as his freshman year. Hendricks was a non factor in the grand scheme but a good player nonetheless and will be missed. I really like a couple of the incoming freshman, they should add some depth and size and speed.

Congratulations to Daymion on being selected to the KY vs TN game. Great young man, hard worker and deserves everything that comes his way.

Thanks for posting that Dale ! I did not know he made the team but that's great news ! Two players in two years from tiny Paintsville says much about their program and the coaches that run it. Congrats to Daymion ! Have a great game!

Congrats to Belcher. What kind of numbers did Paintsville have at seasons end, this year? How many graduate?

They graduate 7 seniors, almost all were starters

No 2 fan bases on earth hate losing any game more than Pikeville and Paintsville. Unless Paintsville doesn't care anymore?:ChairHit:

I gotta agree. Even though I am a Raceland guy. Id probably given it to Daniels. 180 total tackles, 1000+ Yds rushing, 1000+ yds passing, 20+ tds. Or possibly Young 2000+ Yards from scrimmage yds and 30+ tds, or Alex Roy over 3000 yds from scrimmage and 30+ tds.

Now, I am a huge fan of Messer. most importantly, he is a really good kid. Let me say that first and foremost. His TDs, Yards, and Touches were a bit different due to teams making major efforts to shut him down. His contributions went well beyond his numbers though, much like a Hines Ward in his final 2 seasons. Bit based strictly on this years stats alone, I would have given it to one of the others I mentioned. I think Messer's POY is a little biased off of his career rather than his Senior season. Which imo, really isnt fair. I think that and his importance to the team regaurdless of yardage or TDs, is what won it for him.

Congrats to Kash Daniel being named All State second team LB and Luke Daniels honorable mention as a punter. Also Kash All Mountain first team as LB and honorable mention QB. Surprised Daymion Belcher was not on there somewhere unless I overlooked it and Alex Roy too.

It did me, thought he played really good this past season. I did overlook his name though, he was honorable mention All Mountain plus he is playing in the Border Bowl

Thanks.. He did play well considering he played hurt all year.. Not playing in boarder bowl. The coaches called and left a message for him on his voicemail. His voicemail wasn't set up for him to check it. it was set up yesterday and they had called and left a message...... My question is, why didn't they call his coach if they couldn't get in touch with him..

Great question, would have liked to seen him play. The bowl thread has Hendricks replacing him, how did that happen when he played in what 6 games this year? Anyway I hope he performs well, should be a heck of a kick returner.

Daymion and Donta both were picked..
