Have tremendous respect for Russell and think this is the tip of the iceberg with Maynard at the helm and the youth of their roster. One of my favorite fan bases to interact with by far. I legitimately was a fan of the 04 and 05 Russell teams. Was legitimately upset that the 05 team got the shaft by having to play Mercer because that was a bogus deal. That team never should have been in 2A.
If only you all could get rid if the FBALL guy... But I hear he is more of a Raceland fan now anyway and probably will go to their game Friday instead
You heard wrong! Lol.
Bogus or not they should have won that game against Mercer County in 06.
TJ has done an excellent job!

Loved that game. Still have it on film somewhere. I filmed from the top of the pressbox.
I'll have to say I liked the following years game too. Lol

True statements. Who in their right minds would try to turn a running team into a passing team in the second half. Especially with the way that wind was blowing.

Someone had asked about Belfry's weaknesses. The most significant and obvious is they absolute inability to throw the ball with Taylor at QB. I also happen to think they are susceptible to a strong inside running attack out of the spread, which exactly what Russell will try to do.
I seem to recall a Russell fan refer to Belfry as "The Red Army"
I always kinda liked that as far as being nicknamed by the opponent.

I'll take belfry as I always do after my Dawgs are out of it. Belfry always has the X factor in my book and that is Mr. Haywood.I don't think the Pirates will have any trouble with the Devils Goodluck to both.

Russell's Defense is pretty decent and they fly to the ball. Especially Korzep as seen on the local news

I am glad that the Red Devils are back in the mix. Playing Russel was always one of my favorite games. I am seeing the same kind of post from Belfry fans that I saw before the Pikeville game. We must remember this is the State Semi-Finals and Russell is a very deserving opponent. I respect the Red Devils and expect a war on Friday night. IMHO Belfry should win this game BUT turnovers, tackling, and penalties can change the course of the game. Belfry keep your head on straight DO NOT assume you are going to BG, play hard with intensity and desire and victory will be yours.

Look at the tape I played in that game Maynard clearly moved early before the snap. Save that garbage for someplace else.

Russell's D has been very impressive of late. They are flying to the ball in ways that they haven't in years. Korzep is playing defense on a level I haven't seen from any Devil on a while. He is seemingly everywhere at once. He's playing like a senior leader should... regardless of how good the Devils are
next year, they will miss him.
I expected Russell to be better this year no matter who the coach was, but they have exceeded expectations across the board. To be in a position to have a shot at Belfry says a lot about Maynard, his staff, and these players. I thought a season like this was still a year away. The future looks very bright in Flatwoods.

Better than Todd?!?!?! C'mon man. Obviously Pope is a relative but don't make yourself look ignorant. We are talking about a 2 year starter at Auburn.
Zach Bernard was the OCath QB in 04. Was going to Marshall but had some off the field issues.
Where is Pope playing his college ball?

If you don't know who Zach Bernard is, Owensboro Catholic, Marshall signee out of high school. Don't ask questions if you don't want answers. Pope had a great career, but to say he played well against Belfry is just not true. Be glad you didn't play Belfry this year.Saw Todd in college several times and he was not good at all. Played on a great team in college but not a very good QB. Still never heard of Bernard. Couch is a legend. You got your Opions I got mine. You guys won't break a sweat against Russell, they are not very good. QB is a little shifty, can't throw very well. Their backs are not that dominant. Defense is pretty decent. Start focusing on S warren

McKee's numbers don't look impressive at first sight, but he completes about 65% of his passes. Russell might not win on the strength of his arm, but their ability to pass shouldn't be overlooked IMO.

Good to see Russell back in the mix. However, their season ends on Friday.

Judging by this, Johnson Central beat both Ashland and Belfry by 35 and Russell beat Ashland by 1 so I guess Russell is a point better than Belfry?
Obviously a joke. As for the game I think Belfry wins 34-20.

Richard Trent was better than Dalton Pope.

Lol I see you're playing around but I can't stress enough that it was essentially our JV team against JC that night.

Yes, you saw Todd in college playing against SEC defenses with future pros all over the place. But keep telling yourself Pope would have put up better numbers on the same team. nicker:
Played against Pope when he was a freshman and sophomore, he was a good QB but even I've played against far better. Quit talking up a kid that doesn't even play football anymore. His team lost last year, his football career is over. It's over.

You had zero credibility before and you are now in the negative. Say what you want about Warren, but he has something you will NEVER have...a ring and 2-0 against BOCO!!!! Case closed!!!
