Raceland AT Ironton 10/31
#31
On paper and in my head theres no way win this game. Especially being ATLEAST a 14 point underdog going in. Bout our speed defensively is so good, that my gut says we win by a score. In order for Ironton to beat us, they are simply going to have to mow us over. Im nearly 100% certain that our DL will be quicker tha their OL. BUT, man times length can and will make up for that. Its an interesting matchup that is for sure.

Rams by 14. They are peaking just in time for the playoffs.

Has Paledino got any college offers?
#34
Raceland shows why they are the best team in the area with a W at the Tank.

Nebraska for sure, some others that I'm not sure of.

I fully expected Belcher, Daniel, and Hendricks to get lose atleast a couple times last night. But our defense only gave up one drive that was any threat of them scoring and i believe that one ended on the Raceland 25 yard line or so. We have to improve the kickoff situation though. Cant give upper echellon teams a short field all night.

It was at best a 21-7 game. Payton got stripped standing up not securing the ball and Kash only ran it 11 times for 58 yds but put that on the OC. Belcher played injured with the ham deal and to be honest the Hendricks kid is only effective in open space. Raceland has a good team but Pikeville will put the hammer down IMO, not being disrespectful just an opinion. Good luck the the Rams and the great fan base, plus you you have the best concessions and cooked food I've ever had at high school football.

Kash was the only thing that was in any way effective. The defense had to get the strip. Raceland had to overcome a bonehead latteral that resulted in a turnover. The defense forced the Tigers to punt. Raceland also has to play 4 quarters of football. Theres no way we beat Pikeville playing like we did offensively in the 3rd quarter against Paintsville. We had a short field all night and after Paintsville's first possesion of each half, it was all Raceland. So i have to disagree that it was at best a 21-7 game, the Tigers couldnt get anything going and Raceland pretty much moved the ball at will. If Kash only having 11 carries, the strip, and Belcher's injury makes cause for an "at best 21-7 game" then Messer's bad latteral, our poor 3rd quarter offensive performance, and the loss of Trey Potter early in the season makes me see an "at best game ending about the way the Pikeville/Paintsville game did...

We can play that game all we want. But it means nothing. Matchups are different, field conditions are different, weather is different. Paintsville had a few lineman back which may have helped them upfront. Should-uh, would-uh, could-uh's mean nothing.

I agree they didnt use Donte in any way that was relevant. Need to get him downfield and in some space. Jet sweep isnt going to cut it against a quick defense. Tbh, I really though he would get to the edge, but we always ended up pushing him to the sideline and get to him. The kid is freaking fast though. Tigers have size upfront but it is very slow. In regaurds to the food, I most certainly agree!

If Raceland doesnt put 4 quarters together, there is no chance we will beat Ironton, or get past Pikeville. We are making strides and taking care of business, but we gotta clean things up, we have beaten teams on tallent and speed alone. Got to become more consistant.

Clearly you've never had east carters award winning concession stand. Any way I say Raceland winning 36-16 and embarrassing ironton at tank.

Raceland by a touchdown.

I hope you are right because this will be by far the biggest toughest team we have on the schedule. They are a traditional Ohio power who plays unreal competition every game.
#41
Better be 2 TD's better at Ironton to have a chance to win.
#42
To beat Ironton at Ironton Raceland would have to play a perfect game and Ironton would have to play very bad. Different animal then anything Raceland has or will see. Ironton doesn't lose to KY schools very often.
#43
Our defense is underestimated. Which is fine by me. I dont worry about it. On paper and just looking at both teams in common opponents (seeing what thy did to Ashland) and Ironton wins by a few scores. But Raceland is a different team upfront now. Thy have figured out how to use their speed and really just fly to the football as a UNIT. I really like our chances in this game if our defense shows up like it has been. Idc how many numbers we have given up in the two close games we had. We should have won at Ashland and we found away to win against Coal Grove (we won that game by much more than the score shows) our 2nd half effort was incredible. This will be a great ball game

Ashland has had some success recently against Ironton but all those wins were at home. We haven't beaten them at Tank since 90. Raceland would have to be 4 or 5 scores better then Ironton at Tank to win. If your not REFs will keep Ironton in it. Tailback and Fullback will run over around and by everyone on Racelands D. Ironton would be a tough out against any 1a school in the state of Kentucky this season. Baker and Long are faster then fast and probably the fastest players Raceland has seen. Paledino is bigger and at least when we played them faster then either. Kid is a STUD.
#45
Kid is most definitely a stud. But we are deceptive in our strength upfront. We will see what unfolds on Friday. I respectfully disagree that you gotta be 4 or 5 tds better than Ironton to win at Tank. Ive whitnessed alot of homecookong over there, particularly against Russell and Ashland. So i completely agree with that statement. We have shored up the problems that led to 3 of Ashland's scores in week 2. Three runs right up the middle. The fastest kid Raceland has seen all year is Hendricks, without question. He is a legit 4.38-4.39 and its unreal. Paintsville simply did not utilize him correctly. My gut is telling me people will be suprised by how this game looks when the final horn sounds.

Ironton is very good, but to say the RAMS would have to be 4-5 TD's better at Tank to win is ridiculous. I know all about Tank and the officiating, but this is not the same team that played Ashland early in the season. Let's be honest here...Raceland has progressed nicely while Ashland has regressed. If they played again Raceland would win by at least two scores. If it wasn't for 3 consecutive turnovers Raceland would have left with a win regardless.

We may very well get blown out or lose Friday, but I don't think that will be the case, plus Raceland hasn't played at TANK in several years (if ever), so the atmosphere won't be the same for our school as opposed to someone who plays there every other year.
#47
Ironton will be the best team Raceland played to this point and probably from here on out. Good Luck Friday night. Going to try and make it to the game. If Raceland wins they will have earned it for sure.
#48
This will be the toughest game Raceland has played all year. By everybody's estimation, the odds are stacked against them, by a large margin. The coaching staff has developed a great game plan for each game up to this point and I suspect they will do the same here. The biggest thing, is to come away from this game as healthy as possible and move on.
#49
^^^and stay healthy!!

I think raceland scores early and often forcing the tigers to abandon the run game. If the rams score 1st they will controll the game.
#51
IRONTON will win this one with A running clock Raceland has A weak schedule.
#52
Must be a scared Pikeville putty tat fan
#53
My bad....I didn't mean to discredit the putty tats like that. Must be a scared Williams burg.......whatever you guys call yourself fan.
#54
Everybody forgetting that Raceland won this game 17-0 in 2013?
#55
Yea but they still have the same slow linemen that got blown out at Wburg last year.
#56
Yes but Ironton gave up on the experiment that was the spread. And went back to what the do best....and that's get into the T-formation and run it down your throat and they are very good at it. This will be the best front line that we will see regardless of how far we go in the playoffs.
#57
topnotch Wrote:Yea but they still have the same slow linemen that got blown out at Wburg last year.

No we don't. They all graduated. This line is smaller and quicker
#58
Raceland graduated all but 2 lineman from last year. Smaller but just as strong and much faster than last years line. Especially defensively. Topnotch is still dealing with being upset with me.

In my opinion Raceland doesn't have to win this game but be competitive and stop the run..If they contain the run for Ironton I like there chances in the playoffs..
