Belfry @ Lawrence Co. 10/17

bucslover68 Wrote:I think fans on both sides would be satisfied with some actual game analysis in the thread, some football talk. I think Belfry is still not hitting 100% on all cylinders, but each week they are getting closer. The new QB is playing well and continues to learn a new system. Lawrence has a real good record, but to just beat PC by 3 is a little concerning because PCC has really struggled and is by no means a physical team. Belfry thrives on being physical evidenced by one drive against CAK that was 21 plays for 86 yards and took 9:24 off the clock. For LC to have any chance, they cannot let Belfry eat the clock like that. I think LC must depend on being near perfect and Belfry having some turnovers. LC can run and throw some, but if they can control the clock, the better for the Dawgs. In the end, I believe it will be a pretty good contest, but I think the Pirates are too strong and quick on both sides of the ball. IMO Belfry 35, LC 14.

Excellent Post  Looks like there are a few with some Class from Belfry.

KyRock....what am I going to do with you?? This is going to be a great game between two great teams. AND a lonng week of trash talking leading up to the game. Please try not to break any rules this week. I like reading your posts and don't want you to get into trouble.

Ok??

I'm glad Belfry had gaps in their schedule. Playing them has made my Black Bears stronger, and given me the opportunity to make some great friends in Belfry's fan base. But you are correct, IF Belfry doesn't prepare for this game, they could be unpleasantly surprised. Both the Dawgs and the Pirates are great teams, and this game will be hard fought, IMO. If the Dawgs show up prepared to play and the Pirates have a swelled up head, LC will take full advantage of it.

But, by the end of the game, I see Belfry taking the victory.

Good luck to both teams!! Play injury free!!

Yes M'am my deepest heart felt apologies Confusednicker: I mean no disrespect to Belfry just the few *%$%%$( who want to be disrespectful to LC. I have actually learned something this week. Not all from Belfry are bad just like not all from JC are. Just Bobby Seger thats all Confusednicker:

Your all world amazing basketball team would be on the level of Piarist if not for that little bridge at Ft. Gay.

Your football team and other sports have benefited from the Mountain State just as much as Belfry over the years.

Maybe if you can't win Friday you guys will raise so much heck you can get put in a football district with Phelps too, since that is what you did in other sports.

Hopefully Belfry wins 98-0, but Coach Haywood is to classy for that.

Really funny I'm not the one on here making a prediction. Morons like this :biglmao: I will put it this way. If and by some miracle LC pulls it off its going to be a really, really quite Saturday Morning :hilarious: I'm just suckering you suckers in to saying LC has no chance. Either way I can't go wrong because even IF LC can pull it off or even plays Belfry close. I will have something to hold over you Hill Jacks for awhile. 98-0 you say Confusednicker: Its just to Easy :biglmao:

Please, Please tell me they are not being delusional again saying they could beat Highlands? :hilarious: I'm at a loss for words and spit my water across the room thinking about it.

I'm not mad at all. But the name of the thread is "Belfry vs. Lawrence County". I'm not being a jerk. I'm just asking that the thread remains on topic. There are two other threads discussing the game three weeks ago. Please feel free to post in those.

LOL, sure you're not. You must not read many threads on here because just about every one of them turn into massive debates and sometimes deviate from the topic at hand. Yes, "that game played three weeks ago" is a big part to Belfry's season, whether you like to hear about it or not.

I guess I should come whining to the moderators every time somebody mentions Collins' victory over Highlands in the state title game last year.
#74
I have noticed the take it to the other thread warnings are only in the Belfry threads. Is there a reason for that?
#75
As much as I want LC to win it's not going to happen. Belfry 42 LC 21. My wish LC 35 Belfry 34 with an extra point to win it.

If all I had to do was troll and fuss at mods I believe I would destroy my email and get off this site. I would probably have a heart attack if we had two consecutive posts with actual high school football analysis. I guess that is too much to ask. Everybody wants to either be a comedian or a horse's ass.

^ Agree. I wish people would talk football on here. WideRight is right though that the "on topic" warnings have seemingly popped up only in a couple Belfry threads lately. I love that this site doesn't silence people, but with that freedom comes a lot of ridiculous posts and some personal attacks.

Maybe a few more "on topic" warnings across the board would actually improve the site? I'm not sure to be honest, but let's talk some actual football.

I found it interesting in the per game interview with Haywood last Friday, him conceding we don't have "inside the tackle" running backs. It seems like Taylor at HB and Corbett under center is the best use of personnel right now. When Catron is back, we get a little more physical guy inside. (Despite still being pretty small) If I were Cecil, I'd load the box, try to take away the fullback and have my kids put pressure at the edge of the motion side. Make Belfry beat ya with counters and pass plays.
#78
L.C. To pull the upset in my opinion needs to stack the box 8 -9 men in the box stop the run and gang tackle do not allow a lot of extra Y.A.C.

Belfry is just to good for LC. Pirates by 14.

Pirates by 3 Td's

LC always plays us tough during the season..If we overlook them like pikeville we will lose..but we have to play ball..and we wont be on ALL cylinders until Catron returns from injury..IMO he is our missing link on both sides of the ball, The way he plays the game is the way Austin Hatfield plays it...with those two on the field at the same time..its hard to beat us...

LC average giving up 24.6 points per game, Belfry average giving up 10 points per game. If LC wants a chance in this game they have to reverse this, you can not give Belfry 24 points and expect to win. LC offense has to have a perfect game when the D has to improve a little more than they were this week.
#84
Imo, if the coaches decide there only play is to run off tackle, than lc has no chance. they have to mix the play call up a little better than what they have in the last couple of weeks. off tackle and qb keepers wont work with the size of belfry's D line.
#85
Not sure where LC is better than Belfry or even as good. Belfry names the score in this one. I think some of LC's fan base are a little over jubilant about scratching past SC and PC. Belfry is a different animal altogether.
#86
Ill take belfry by 4 tds if they show up to play but if not it will be a good game.you can play with belfry if you stop the full back if not ur messed up

How can you judge if you haven't seen Belfry play THIS year? That makes no sense at all. This Belfry team is very good and they haven't near peaked yet. They are not great in all areas, but they have few glaring weaknesses. Injuries have been a bit of a concern, but they have overcome them so far. As far as schedules go, do not even compare them. LC would not be 7-1 if they had Belfry's schedule. Henry Clay and Southwestern and CAK and Pikeville would all have probably mowed down the Dawgs. This is all just my opinion, but the one thing I do guarantee is that if you go Friday night, you will get to see the Pirates put on a good show. As for the poster who said you stop Belfry if you stop the fullback. That is true to some extent in theory, but it rarely happens. CAK crashed the middle as hard as any team I have seen Belfry play in a long time and to be honest they controlled Hatfield real well. He had about 50 yards. The only problem is when you do that you open up the outside and you leave the middle of the field wide open. The other Belfry backs and QB had about 350 yards rushing Friday night. So Belfry has much more than the fullback. Anyway, the Pirates will show up and we shall see what happens.
#89
So did Joplin kid quit?
#90
I really don't think LC's line will match up very well with Belfry on either side of the ball. This will pave the way for Belfry's offense whether it be on the legs of Austin Hatfield, Keaton, Corbett, or whoever touches the ball. Austin got keyed on the entire game against CAK last week so I look for him to plow his way down the field most of the night against LC and punish whoever gets in his way. I have a feeling Ray Horton is going to be in the LC backfield quite a bit Friday night also. Belfry D will be lights out.
