Belfry @ Pikeville 9/19
I hope you've all had your shots Smile

Nice. Especially since their coach left most of the starting O in to score ONE more TD to push it to that final score. Lol. It came against the Pikeville subs. But being serious, good game.

Sounds like you glad? :flush:
It is game day. Good Luck to both teams. I am most interested to see if Pikeville can consistently stop Belfry and does the Belfry offense have any lag that might be attributed to Joplin leaving mid-week. I suspect it won't have much, but we shall see.
Hope to see and hear that Pikeville competed for four quarters.
I believe that the Pikeville starting 11 are good enough this year to keep it close for a half if they play perfect and don't turn the ball over, but do they have enough depth when those kids get worn down. I say...............
......Belfry 42 Pikeville 21

Disappointed is a better word. It was only 12-0 at the half, with Pikeville on the 3 yard line when time ran out because they had no timeouts left. Had to burn a timeout earlier in the drive immediately out of another timeout because the team didn't get lined up right. I thought the Pikeville boys competed hard last night. And it was 28-0 with 4 minutes left, no need for Belfry coach to leave most (not all) of his starting O in for one more TD. Little overkill in my opinion, but the way I look at it, it's our boys job to stop whomever is on the field, so I'm not using it as an excuse at all. Just of the opinion the coach didn't show much class on that last TD. But they are well coached and good athletes, kudos to them.

Good luck to the varsity editions of both teams tonight. I think it will be a little more competitive than people think. Not going to put a score on it.

Not defending anything...just a funny comment from the Falcons game last night about this subject.

Apparently Bill Parcells once had a game get out of hand and some coach complained to him about running up the score. When the media asked him Parcells said "So now I have to worry about coaching their team as well as mine?"

Thought that was pretty awesome when I heard it.
Good luck to both teams tonight. I hope for an injury free game, and lots of action!!

I wasn't there so I can't comment on this situation but IMO there is a big difference between the NFL and middle school. NFL players are grown men, play football for a living, and are paid very well for doing so. I see nothing wrong with a coach running up the score. It is literally the other teams JOB to stop them. Middle school kids are not paid professions and most likely never will be. A middle school coach should keep that in mind and have the class to not run up the score and humiliate the other team's kids.
Belfry - 34
Pikeville - 27
I'll go with belfry by 3 tds as well, but am pulling for pikeville.
Not exactly, PHSForever, not exactly. Check your PMs!

You're forgetting the HB who scored the TD. And I believe one other. But like I said, kudos to Belfry. I'm not going to argue small details. The game is over and done with. BUT I will say that 1st half by Pikeville was a dandy.

I am not disagreeing at all... just relaying that funny quote form last night.

Maybe I'm just of the old school mentality. But the every one gets a trophy "nanny state" mentality to youth sports drives me nuts. When I lived in Lewis County for a bit and attended Garrison Elementary we had to play Raceland in basketball and we got stomped, bad. We did feel humiliated we felt we let each other down and we practiced 10x harder at the next few practices. Adversity builds character, determination and will.

You're right...it was 12-0 at half.....and I thought Pikeville moved the ball very well. Not sure I would mention time running out @ the 3 yrd line.....time should have ran out closer to the 20....but those darn "faulty" clock buttons...always seem to magically trip off on their own......:biggrin:

Addressing the last score.....I mean you've got 4 minutes left...and the play call was a simple give off guard....Not sure what you want them to do...take a knee? Guess we could ask the same about your staff and punting on 4th down.........and a mile to go???? Multiple times???? Do they have a punter?
dang, fast typing. I meant to say did not feel humiliated

Pikeville, Ky (AP) - A seven-year-old Belfry, Ky boy was at the center of a Pike County courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him. The boy has
a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulations requiring that family unity be maintained to the degree possible. The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried out they also beat him. After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him. After two recesses to check legal references and confer with child welfare re officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the Pikeville Panthers, whom the boy firmly believes are not capable of beating anyone from Belfry. Follow up article: The boy's parents have filed a lawsuit against the Pikeville Panthers and the Pikeville Independent Schools. Upon being returned to his parents at the conclusion of his temporary custody with the Panthers, the boy was wearing shoes and could read.
On Memorial my dear Aunt was paying respect to her deceased Grandmother who was buried at Dils Cemetery.

She had taken her 6 year old son along with her to help her put flowers on the grave. As they walked he read a tombstone that said "Here Lies The Biggest Pikeville Panther Fan To Ever Walk The Earth And A Good Man"

My young cousin looked at my Aunt and asked, "Mom...why would they bury that other man in the same grave as that awful Pikeville guy?"

Big Grin
What do the Pikeville Panthers and possums have in common?

A: Both play dead at home and get killed on the road!

Q: What?s the difference between the Pikeville Panthers and a dollar bill?

A: You can still get four quarters out of a dollar.
What's the difference between a bucket of sh!t and a Belfry fan?
The bucket.
