I think this is a better job than most people think. I look for Taylor to show improvements this season. The question now is How long will he stay?

If he can get the elitist parents under control the team will be better, but that it a very tall order. They think their kids are d-1 caliber and should be treated with kid-gloves.

There is a time for a coach to be a friend to a teenager, but there is also a time for a coach to be a coach and kick them in the butt when they need it.

Dudley will be at Taylor until they are eliminated from the playoffs. That is all.

Then after the regular season. I didn't know if they were in a four team district or not.

Heard he was going to neighboring Marion County after the season. They are in Taylor's district but have more talent. And it's 20 minutes closer to where he grew up.

If I was him, Sheldon Clark would be a great place, but if he had a chance to go home I wouldn't blame him.

I'd bet its a temporary job and he will leave after finishing this season.

Have the 4 biggest names of EKY Coaches all within about a 60 mile radius of one another (Haywood, Holcomb, Hilton, Matney)

Larkey would be a bigger name than Matney.

Most coaches of his legendary stature would not be put into a situation like this. I applauded him for helping those young men. Hope this will make there program better. They did win 6 games two years ago and this might make them a better program in the future.

Dudley doesn't care who your Mommy or Daddy is ....plus he's only gonna be there for this season what does he have to lose.

Zero speed. Nada. They have averaged about 3.5 years over the 40+ of their program.

Campbellsville is, has and always will be the best job in that town.

I always thought they would merge, and would have merged by now, but if I'm Campbellsville....especially what they have right now at the HS ranks and what's coming up through the pipeline.

Side note, but Campbellsville is a team to keep an eye on coming out of the East for the next few years IMO.

LWC Wrote:I saw in the Herald-Leader that Dudley stated very clearly that he promised the Taylor County AD this season but did not promise anything more than that. He is leaving himself open for another job if something he wants opens.

I noticed that too and thought it was a bit strange that he would only commit for the remainder of the season.

Possibly an attempt by the School, knowing its only a one year commitment to help add more weight to the job to increase the caliber of applicants for it next year. Creating that mindset of "Dudley took the job it must have potential."

TheBrahmaBull Wrote:I lived in Campbellsville for 8 years and am familiar with the Cardinal program. Good hire for them considering the lack of tradition. Boyle and Lex Cath leaving the district next season will help as far as them competing for a playoff spot. As far as the coach he as had medical issues in the past and I wish him the best, he is a good man.

Coach Graves is one of the best guys you could ever hope to meet.

Having played for Dudley many years ago, there will be some adjustment. Dudley will put kids in positions they have never played before if he thinks it will help the team run his system more efficiently. That will be tough on some of the kids who just inherited their position on the team. Mommy and Daddy will be upset until they see that he is not trying to make superstars, he is trying to build a team. If he stays around long enough, it will work, because his system is sound, and it is simple. His offense and defensive schemes are tried and tested. He's not fancy, but he certainly gets the best out of his players. To see what he does with mediocre talent through the years......it's pretty impressive.

I think simple and fundamental is where it's at.

I wonder if TC would give Griffiths another chance after getting left at the alter by him a couple years ago?

Leslie must be a much improved team. Buckhorn has a solid progra
And should be dangerous in the Class A.

I agree. This came as a suprise to me, that he ended up there. Maybe with all he has accomplished, he wants to try and build a program up again?
