Mccracken also did a good job from keeping may field from getting the edge, but I done see many teams being able to do the same. I was surprised how may field started getting more up the middle, cause they were stonewalled the first half.

I love how some mustang fans are playing off the game being close by saying its because they took there foot of the gas. I think it was close because trajon bright put his foot on the gas.

I don't know what their fans think but I bet Capt Jack don't want a rematch this year. It was more along the lines of us not turning the ball over any more and then it got rolling.

I read somewhere else where a mccracken fan said that. I thought it was funny cause obviously it wasn't due to them being conservative since they tried a fake punt. They had mayfield on the ropes, and went for the knockout punch, but it was ducked and the boys swung back.

Great game. One of the best I have ever seen. Congratulations to MC on the win. Scary watching your son lay on the field and not move. He said he got hit and couldn't feel his arms. He sat out the next series and then was ready to go. The boys answered a lot of questions last night and made the rest of 1A take notice!

Some of our boys need to start drinking Pedialyte on Monday.
09-01-2014, 06:11 PM
Mine drank so much pedialyte that it like to have broke us. It's just when you have to chase that calibre of athlete on every play you can only take so much. Little 55 cramped up so bad that he was still having to stretch the calves repeatedly today at practice. He looked like he had been in a bar fight when he got home.

Surprised by this outcome, Mayfield has and will always be a tough out for any team. Coach Haskins always seems to pull these games out somehow and someway...over the years. The NKY Red Tigers will have their hands full with the Cards...again!

Them NKy Red Tigers should be concerning themselves with those Capital City Panthers before they worry about those Cardinals.

I can't believe I was defending Mayfield. nicker:

Saturday night Elijah just hung his head at the table when we were at Carr's. He said he was sore all over. His arms were all bruised up. He will look back on this and wish he could do it again LOL.

Them boys have heart out of this world. They gave it everything they had. You have to know that one of mine like I do to realize that. I remember practicing him in baseball in over 100 degree temps for 4 hours and him begging to do more. A lot if that time in hot catchers gear. In all those years, this is the first time I have seen him tired for 2 days. We are talking an athlete in baseball, basketball, football and soccer and this is the first. They really did not want to take that loss.

May field will pay them back next year. There ain't many teams out there with athletes like a pooh Jones, and Zaire hughes on them. Next year when pooh is gone it wont be quite as hard to slow them down. Its hard to game plan for a team with 2 division 1 athletes on the offense. I'm sure mccracken will reload well, and they should with the size of there school, but its hard for me to believe they they will have many teams with 2 on it at the same time with that kind of talent. I may be wrong, but after the 5th game between them I think may field will be leading the series, but who knows with the numbers they have they may keep getting better its a big question mark to me.

Considering the # of Jrs and Sophs that Mayfield's playing and a couple of bigtime RBs in the freshman class, you have to like Mayfields chances the next couple of years. After that, all bets are off. I figure Haskins will coach another 2-3 years and call it a career. He's certainly been at it a long, long time. Alot of McCracken's future success will fall heavily on who they hire to replace him. A bad decision could set them back and a good decision could take them to yet another level.

Well you also have to consider this tidbit:
The 6th grade has only been scored on once since they started in 3rd grade.
The 7th grade looks pretty solid and has won their only game, against GCMS.
The 8th grade is solid with a good qb and rb and they too have won their only game against gcms.
The jv also looks solid and won their only game against gchs.
This is two fold so bear with me. First we have talent for years to come. Second, we are one game away from another sweep of Graves. Every time we do that, there is amass exodus from their to MHS. So I think good things are gonna continue at MHS.

I may have to go check out the middle school Thursday since I'm on vacation, and usually work evenings and miss everything but varsity. Does anyone know if there are any elementary games the rest of the week I don't have a schedule with those on it.
09-03-2014, 04:01 AM
That's impressive about the 6th grade team only being scored on once in over 3 years.
09-04-2014, 01:49 AM
Is there any stats on this game..
09-04-2014, 05:23 AM
I just caught the top 5 performances of the week on wpsd. I cannot believe people didn't vote Bright in at #1. That had to be the best performance of the year, not just the week. Those were some sick runs.
09-04-2014, 07:01 AM
It is wpsd 55 and that's the same station that broadcasted the game and from there comments during the game they are very biased. They repeated on numerous occasions that mccracken had there foot on may fields throat but let off the gas. They are not giving much credit to mayfield , so its not much surprise they are not big on brights performance. My favorite part of the telecast was when one of the 2 guys announcing the game said we then stammered and said I mean mccracken did such and such, you could also sence how uncomfortable they were when may field was gaining momentum then they would be more joyful when mccracken scored.
09-04-2014, 01:40 PM
I can't get to bent out of shape about the WPSD announcers bias. Lord knows Vince on WYMC is about as bias for Mayfield as an announcer can be. Just goes with the territory.
09-04-2014, 02:40 PM
I don't blame them for being bias, but its funny when they are trying to hide it and are doing poorly at it. Any local radio station is going to be for there team. I guess being the news station maybe they are suppose to announce the games from the area, and not be bias, its just funny hearing them stammer and refer to mccracken as we then try to play it off and say I meant mccracken.

Everyone votes on these things. I guess it's just who calls the most. That is really no way to determine who had the performance of the week. You end up with the biggest schools usually winning, due to more voters. I guess all of Calloway voted for Love from Murray. Maybe if they had 2 teams in Calloway Co that would have split up their vote. I bet you Capt Jack Haskins voted for Bright.
09-04-2014, 07:14 PM
If love was no. 1 I cant dispute it, as he had a great game.
09-04-2014, 10:44 PM
He may have had a great game but those 2 runs by Bright would have any coaches mouth watering. I have said it before and will continue to. He is going to be the best rb in the state as a senior.
09-04-2014, 11:54 PM
I don't doubt that 55. He has already progressed a lot, and his first year as the primary ball carrier just begun. I can't imagine how good he will be with almost 3 full seasons to go.

I was there. Both of them beat Graves. The 8th grade killed Graves. Based upon that, I would say PT is just pretty loaded. Of course the 8th grade had 3 key players out and 1 playing injured. It was tight in the 8th til the inadvertent whistle by the ref which caused us to not get the first down on the first drive of the second half when the rb was not down. That drive would have put us up 18-16. Instead they get the ball and one play us to a two score lead.

Mayfield losing another one this week? or are they going to wait and lose their last game? nicker:. seriously it looks like they might not lose another game.

We would rather lose one now than at the end. I like our chances though.
