Harlan County @ Belfry 9/5
#31
Granny Bear forgive me in my pick. :please:

Belfry 49
Harlan County 13

Dang I'm in trouble.

I've never been to CAM Stadium and I can't wait. The Black Bears still have work to do. They'll keep improving each week. Anxious to see what they can do against Belfry.

Can't wait to have you, granny bear, Demarcus and the rest of the HC faithful. Come early and join in the tailgate. We will try and make you all feel as welcomed as you made us feel at your place.

Just basing the one on one problem with the statement you made about Zak having problems with smaller players because of there speed. Horton could be a big problem if that's the case.
#37
I didn't say that he had problems with smaller guys because of their speed! LOL

Granny Bear Wrote:I didn't say that he had problems with smaller guys because of their speed! LOL

My bad, I was assuming that's why they presented a problem. now Im really confused why a guy his size has problems with smaller players. Oh well, I guess it should be a good match up. Or maybe Belfry should just put a DB in front of him..lol

Belfry!

Granny Bear Wrote:EKUAlum,

I am MORE than ready for that match up. I'm so thankful that Horton is the size that he is; Zak seems to handle the bigger boys so much better than the small ones! LOL

I'd say both of those babies will be sore the next day!!

Sorry Granny! I See now you were being sarcastic..Ive seen the pics of Zak it was just hard for me to believe he would have problems handling smaller players
#41
He doesn't really have problems, he just matches up better with kids closer to his size. Picture somebody bending down and with one hand, picks up a yard dog that's biting his ankles.....as opposed to two men pushing each other around! And he may or may not have issues with that, but I sure think it looks awkward!!!!
#42
Regrettably I will not be in attendance. My son joined cub scouts and has his first camp out Friday night so there's no other place I'd rather be!

Coming off a nice victory should have them ready for Friday night. Though I know Belfry and Clay are on different levels but a win is a win. Against the more athletic Bryan Station team the only thing we struggled with was the passing other than that we matched up pretty well and controlled the line on offense. I'm looking for a similar game to last year with the play off atmosphere and smash mouth football. I'm saying 21-18 Black Bears.
#43
We'll miss you Patriot! Have fun!!!
#44
I hope we absolutely crush the Black Bears. I love Granny as much as any, but what a statement it would be to just slash through Harlan County AND Southwestern over the next two.

BUT - it's not gonna happen. Larkey is a pretty good coach, Harlan County has some hosscats, and the Pirates will have big heads next week. I think we can/will win, but not by much.
#45
Belfry with a running clock early in the first quarter.
#46
Belfry 24
Harland County 14

If Belfry keeps a level head and does not look past the Black Bears then we should come out with a win. This is a really good Harland County team that loves to get physical just like Belfry. Forget last week and focus on this team if you want to get a W.

Your full of it dude, they lost one kid off of their defense..and we owned them..the only kids they lost on their offense was their 2 halfbacks and QB...but guess what so did we..we owned them up front just like we will own your hawks up front and all over the field..Pike Central is not even in our league this year in size or speed..You let a way down 2a Somerset team hang with you guys...I can't wait till we play you guys, but don't worry to much about our game because you will only see our starters for about 2 quarters if that...then if your lucky you will get some yards on our JV...

Coach Haywood will not allow them to get th big head, trust me I've been to every practice..

I don't know about that, Coach seems to have a way of seeing it happening and being like "Oh yeah, you think you're good?" ... then throwing them out there and letting reality kick them in the face.

I have a great deal of respect for Tom Larkey. I believe that he can and will get as much out of this team as anyone!! I understand your statement about crushing the Bears; because I want to crush the Pirates!!

That's the key, IMO. One game at a time. The Black Bears have been entirely focused on the Pirates since Friday night's game was over.

I really think this may have happened last week. IMO Henry Clay gave Belfry NO respect and as a result was not prepared, even with the efforts of their coaching staff!! The Pirates knocked them on their heels early, and they could never recover.

I believe the Bears can win this game, but like the Pirates of last week, they must remain focused, and take one play at a time!! In any event, I am so excited to visit the CAM and spend some time with one of the most passionate fan bases I have ever seen!!!

So here's to a great game between two great mountain teams; and I PRAY it's an injury free contest!!

Never have I seen coach do that...these boys have the potential the be the best team that's stepped on the field, and the next two years even better....even three....This right now is the most all around athletic team We have had....hands down...they won't be cocky, come to practice Tuesday and watch, or tomorrow....Coach has been on one the last couple of weeks, and for good reasoning, and look what it done...Now Harlan County will be a whole different game...they match our tuffness..and it's two basically same teams...run it up the gut until you stop it....they got some big lineman...And the best horn blower in the stands these days in Granny Bear....can't wait to tailgate...

It's more about going against Harlan County than it is going for the west Virginia team.

In other words, you'd rather yell for Belfry JUST to be against Harlan County? Is that what you're saying?
#60
An out of district game that will learn the Bears about what they'll need to work on to win the district.

Prayers for an injury free game!
