History distorts things a little. UK won four of those national championships when the NIT was the premier tournament. Also, UK plays in the SEC. And in the "old" days the SEC was truly a joke when it came to college basketball. You really did have teams where the football players played to stay in shape. Pretty much facts. UK does have the best overall record in basketball wins. Big deal. I consider North Carolina and Kansas records more respectable because they did it in basketball first conferences. As for Cal..he has to live and die by his approach to college basketball. Which is a joke within itself. UK fans really have drunk the Kool-Aid. The NBA even uses it occasionally. It's very much a part of the game. One thing I found amusing about UK and Baylor? Two the college games biggest cheats coaching against each other.

Did u just call the big 12 a basketball conference??? How many schools in the big 12 have basketball titles besides Kansas? Oklahoma an Texas football are the money makers for that conference and OK state and Baylor are now more football schools as well. As for UNC the ACC had UNC and DUKE one title from NC state and some good years from Virginia in the 80's but what else.two dominant schools make it a dominant basketball conference? It will be now that Louisville Pitt and Syracuse have joined but that doesn't help UNC's or Duke's Past accomplishments I would argue that if you take UK Florida and Arkansas and match it up against UNC Duke and NC state the numbers are pretty comparable.

The Big 8 was never a basketball first conference! The Cornhuskers and Sooners were both and still both football schools! As far as Jim Boheim and his "living playing zone" he has managed one national title in 36 full seasons! As far Cal goes he has won over 82% of his games at UK, with 2 final fours and a National title, that's pretty good if you ask me!
