No my team actually got beat by two, and we beat another. Just don't see the point! Looks like jealously on the part of others. I am not sensitive, just don't kick those that just lost. I can talk trash with the best, before the game, and compliment those after.

I think maybe a better way to word it is which team's fans thought they were better than they were.

Most coaches have a pretty good idea of what the season will end up like before it even starts. You catch a few breaks here and there with a decent team and you have a shot, but I'd say most of these teams are happy with where they ended up. Now their fans? Thats a different story.

With that in mind, I will second the Middlesboro, Johnson Central, and Trinity picks.

Middlesboro fans punched their ticket in September.
Johnson Central fans punched their ticket a week too early.
Trinity fans are greater than thou no matter what, so this was a reality check for them.

I said we probably needed ground rules and I think some are getting what I'm saying. I'm not really ragging on the teams in general, just some of the fan base so to speak. Heck, I even like alot of them. I think the Harlan County bunch are really pasionate and dedicated and overall great people. I'm speaking in terms of bigginging of season to now. I have even said that if my own team gets beat that they may very well go on list. You can't get much fairer than that. Even we have had a few fans that think we are world beaters. So far we are doing what we are suppose to. For example, Most Belfry fans picked Johnson Central to beat Belfry, heck alot of them picked Harlan County and some picked CAK to beat Belfry.

Now Granny, I said in the first post some might get offended and that I even liked Harlan County and their fans. That is the beauty of this thread. Defend them. Give the reasons you don't think they belong and who you think should. You can't tell me there wasn't a team or atleast fan base of a team that built up their team only to not be as great as made out to be.

Believe me when I say I really HATE to take up for Gut, but the truth is the truth!!! Emergency Room Afternoon is a phrase coined by Bear Paw. I can't remember exactly where he heard it from but it stuck in his mind. Gut was just repeating that in a futile attempt to aggravate HC fans. One thing he loves to do is stir the pot with Belfry fans, because he knows that will increase the post count exponentially!!

He was a fan of Harlan County right up until the time we failed to beat Bell County by the margin that he predicted; consequently, he lost his first ever avatar bet. (And guess who designed that avatar for some of my Bell Co buds??? LOL)

We did not destroy Belfry, but Crossbones, even you must admit Belfry did not destroy us either. I believe your margin of victory was by 8; I could be wrong but I think that is accurate. I could say if this or if that, but bottom line Belfry was the better team that night.

Now, I'm not going to get mad or "cut on you" (whatever that means), but if you think I'm gonna sit here and not argue when Harlan County is involved, then you have another think coming!!

Got ya on the Gut thing! No, Belfry did not destroy HC, not at all. It was a great game and a battle to the end. I myself thought HC would win. I don't want you to sit here and not defend them. That was kinda the point of the thread to defend them. I think some are not really understanding what I started the thread for. It is not in general to rag on the teams or fans really, but to make some realize all the smack talk from the beginning of the year till now. I like you Harlan County fans..I have grown to like you all alot and you all are passionate about your team and I will root for them from here on out.

You know full well that no one can post issues on the game threads because they're accused of making "excuses". I also hate to post that stuff, because the team that you played takes it personally...like they weren't good enough to win the game. So explanations can get a little testy sometimes.

Harlan County had it's problems, and it started out pre-season. Really really peaked the night of the Johnson Central game. Then Greeneville, TN! Three losses in a row, mid-season. Morale was lower than a snake's belly.

We fought back though, and I am very proud of what they accomplished!!! It's difficult to lose 4 starters from the defensive team within two weeks. And at play off time, too. Some of the O-line had to step up and play both ways. Which lead to more criticism.

So you can complain about "posing" all you want. As usual, you don't have a clue as to the facts behind the problems!!

HC didn't do as well as I actually thought they would do this year, but their accomplishments are just icing on the cake for me. The real story is with each and every individual on that team!! I would support them dogmatically had they not won a single game!! We had a trainer on the team that loved those kids with all his heart; the boys also loved him just as much. He was diagnosed with terminal cancer earlier in the year and he made it very well known that before dying, his final wish was to lead the Black Bears out of the helmet for their first game. When it became apparent that he would probably not live that long, the boys got him for the pre-season scrimmage, and he led them out that first Friday night. He died the following Tuesday.

THIS is what it's all about; life lessons, dedication and determination...DonnieStrong!!!!

Nice post Granny. Nothing better than a passionate fan and the team he/she loves. I'll be honest. The reason I started this thread was because a few years ago this site was overrun with Belfry fans and we all loved our Pirates and built them up all year. Even me, only to get beat by Breathitt at home in the Region Championship. I was embarrased to say the least and said that I would watch how I bragged them up from there on out. I've seen a few over the top braggers since. It's all just food for thought. :Thumbs:

Well except from ole 64sur and williamsburg. But they are still in it and can't be counted as so just yet. So, by your reasoning, that would make Mayfield poser 2 years ago when Hazard thrashed them?

And yes you do seem to have a problem with Harlan Co football plus according to what the whitley coaching thread is all you do is put coach larkey down as not being good or capable to coach at whitley due to running the ball, if i aint wrong, its what belfry does and it has worked ppretty good,
