OffTheHook Wrote:Oh My GOD. Are you serious? All this talk because I said asterisk in another thread? Are you freaking kidding me? I have been a poster on here for over 7 years and well over 10, 000 post and NOT one single post has ever put down a kid or NEVER will be. If you would have read it. You would have seen that I even explained it. Why in the world would I belittle that kid or any kid on here? How can you belittle some, when all you have done is praise them in almost every post.

LOL....I really am LOLing. *Belittle....LOL

*To describe (someone or something) as little or unimportant. NEVER HAPPENED
There that * was used in a positive way. It showed you what the word belittle meant.

Asterisk - a symbol * that is used in printed text especially to tell someone to read a note that can be found at the bottom of a page.
Nothing negative in that definition.

LOL...ALL this because of an "opinion" of what you thought something meant.
LOL...I'm me and never gonna change. Like my opinions or not. Just don't accuse me of putting down kids on here. It just don't happen.

LOL...Belittle...Smile

WAITING ON YOUR EXAMPLE OF USING ASTERICK AS A POSITIVE EXAMPLE OF A SPORTS RECORDS. I am sure you will not come up with a example due to the fact the definition of asterisk : a small star like symbol (*) used in writing and printing as a reference mark or to indicate omission, doubtful matter, ect.

I guess now we can put this to bed. Youth did put down the kid. PERIOD You may have not mint to but to say an accomplishment of a state record is “doubtful matter” is clearly a put down.
#65
Could a mod shut this thing down. I have created a monster.
#66
^
I dont think it should be shut down.
You have asked a valid question that some seem to be taking as a personal shot to JC's recent record.
If the record hadn't recently been set, this question wouldn't have been viewed that way.
Personally, i think it a good question. Members do not need to take it as a shot. They need to answer the question as a yes or no and explain why without using there recent record for any of there examples.

OffTheHook Wrote:Exactly!

Not one of us has "Hated" one the kid.
Not one of us has "Hated" on the school.
Not one of us has "Hated" if it was legal.
Not one of us has "Hated" on the coach.

I have had many people outside of BGR ask me about the difference and why they got to kick it the way they did. People that don't know the rules of the game. Who did however notice the differences in the kicks. All we are doing is discussing those differences.

And Diogenes. There is a difference between High School and College/Pro. In College/Pro, the kicker has to use a holder without the aid of a Tee.

I am also done with this. Too many people just want to take things the wrong way and attack people for no real reason.

Again...BIG CONGRATS to Mr. Pack on an OUTSTANDING Record! The sky's the limit buddy!

People people, calm down I have read this whole thread and not once did someone put down the kid or what he has done. He has been given congrats after congrats on it. And plus it doesn't matter what some think the others meant in their post. If they didn't say it then how could you say you knew what they were getting at. I never once got the impression that the kid had been put down or anything else. Let it go and move on. Quit arguing and let's hope he continues to kick the way he has been kicking.

To belittle “yes belittle is what I feel you did” by challenge the volatility of the a 15 year old accomplishment is unacceptable. You have stated that you did not intent to or want to belittle or disrespect the young man. I will take you at your word that this was not your intent. However when people like OffTheHook jumps in and wants to put an Asterisk by the kick in the KHSAA Record Book makes your post negative and should not have been started in the first place.

Show me a place where an Asterick is use in a positive way.

I don't believe it was anyone's intention to put down Tyler Pack. However, to say that because the record was broken on a free kick it should not be classified as a state record as a FG does question the validity of the record and therefore the integrity of the accomplishment. That, in my opinion, is why some feel that it is a shot at the player who, as some have already pointed out, held the old record of 58 yards on a conventional FG.

To my knowledge that has never been said. Everyone has stated that it was a legit FG and State Record.

I also wanna point out that I was wrong on the Fair Catch Kick (NFL) and Free Kick (High School).

I said that it was used in College. It was banned by the NCAA back in the 70s.

That is not correct.

RamPride said it was not a FG
Scotty Bronson said they should be in different categories

Those types of comments are what cause people to react.

OK, Thank You.

There's NO arguing about it though. It's a legit FG.

The other category thing really doesn't matter though. That would just mean he would own Two Stae Records..lol.

That we can agree on.

Someone explain to me why i am a douche bag for sayig they should be in different categories? Touchdowns are categorized into Rushing, passing, kick returns, punt returns, interception returns, fumble recoveries, blocked punts and blocked kicks, so why not field goals? Does anyone garner more praise or relativity than the other NO. All i said was one kic was different than the other and thought they should be decided as so in the record books, just like touchdowns. And in no way does that intell taking away from what Mr Pack is capable of or what he has accomplished.
#84
I can't find where anyone said that.

Sorry the correct words were "classless". I do my up most best to treat others as i would be treated. I try with everything in my power to do whats right by the kids i coach and the kids i coach against, even if it is at the jfl level. It just really bothered me that someone would call me out and say that i was "classless" and "never should have started the thread to begin with".

Doche Bag was never used lol. Just the words tht rolled from my head to my hands and on to the keyboard.
#87
After watching the video I would have to say yes I would have them in different categories. No disrespect to the young man. That is still a remarkable feat. But to have a running start like the length of a kickoff compared to a 3 step as on a regular field goal are two completely different things. Now this is just my opinion so don't hang me. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
#88
:1:We are very proud of what Tyler has accomplished with all the hard work he puts in every day.Regardless of the opinions of the old football hero's that would have loved to had this young mans ability. Keep on putting the boot to that ball son. I hope he continues to put that ball in the enzone with every kick, I like seeing the other team start on their own 20 every time
#89
I would guess the reason the two types of FG attempts are not placed in different categories is because the free kick is so rarely utilized.
#90
^^^ a more than likely reason.
