Belfry 21 Harlan County 12

Where's the best place to get game stats?

Belfry was bigger, stronger and played more physical tonight, hats off to a great team and a great program! I guess we also found out how valuable Cole Wilson is to this HC team, he runs the ball, catches the ball, kicks the ball and is a tremendous defensive end!!! I hope he is not hurt bad, HC is clearly a much weaker team without him. HC is 4-4 passing the first half with him and 0-7 in the 2nd without him, wow! That is alarming! Our special teams hurt us badly tonight, but Belfry was just the better all around team tonight...

I agree 100%. I try not to respond to trolls, but this time I am going to make an exception.

RUITG, you are a schmuck. Your pitiful little routine was childish and silly and on top of that it wasn't funny.

On behalf of the Pond Creek Nation, kiss my a$$.

I just woke up and it is a beautiful morning Big Grin

I really can't say anything bad about our trip to Harlan. Great game, great atmosphere. Thanks for the hospitality, Bears. Congratulations to the Pirates for having the better team and the better game plan. Nice job, just don't celebrate too much, we still have a lot of work to do.

Go Pirates!!!!!!

I didn't get a chance to listen on the radio but was able to follow on EKU update thread. Sounded like Barnes, Horton, and Hall were active in the run stuffing. How did Stanley and Duty play at LB? Who started in the defensive backfield? Did Haywood rotate a lot of guys in and out on defense?

Good luck bears the rest of the season, this Pirate will always be rootin for ya...

And last but not .least, Run it up the gut, get the hell off our bandwagon, you are not welcome on it...

Yep, we got out played and you should be very very proud of that Belfry team. They are the real deal, and with so many so young; they will be a force to be reckoned with for years to come. I especially liked the guts and effort from #53! He obviously loves where he plays!!!

Now, as far as RunItUpTheGut is concerned, he's like that little shit gnat that keeps buzzing around your head. You'll smack at him and sure you've got him but in a couple of seconds, you can hear that annoying little buzzzzz again. He gave HC's fan base a bad rep and caused a lot of trouble. I told him about it, too. But you've got to admit...he stirred up a lot of banter and a lot of posts. Guess that's what mods are supposed to do to promote their site. So don't be too upset with him. Nobody pays much attention to him anyways.

One more thing. I'm taking nothing away from Belfry's win; that is certainly not my intention. But I just have to publicly commend our QB, Bailey for his play last night. You can say what you want about him, right or wrong, good or bad, but that kid took a pounding last night and got up every time. I am so proud of him!! He's a tough gritty player, and when some were letting down, he still pounded that ball right up the middle. And one very special thing, you'll never see him sliding feet first; he took it on the chin all night long. Good job, Scotty!!!

You are entitled to your opinion Granny, but from where I sit, it was pitiful to have to read all that all week. I'm old school. I like to discuss the games, predictions, matchups, etc., but with respect and common sense. I can't handle the schtick or the trash talking. Unnecessary to me and frankly just not amusing.

And you are right, that gave HC's fans a black eye to be associated with that idiot. The HC fans were some of the nicest and most gracious I have met and you guys deserve better than to have to put up with that in my opinion. I wouldn't make excuses for him. And for a representative of this fine website to make such retarded posts that were not even his own thoughts, just trolling both sets of fans... If trash talking, disrespectful banter is what they want to attract, then more power to them but it ain't for everybody. BGR can be a really great place for sports discussion in EKY but that kind of stuff ruins it for me.
Congratulations to the Belfry Pirates. Black Bears keep your heads up. My husband told me earlier in the week that the Pirates were the best team that the Black Bears had ever faced and now I believe it. He said they were a great team. I didn't get to watch but my husband was there and he said they were just that good. Hats off to Belfry players and coaching staff. There is no shame in losing to a great team.
I apologize Buc-a-roo; I can absolutely understand what you're saying and actually agree with it. We liked to have never convinced everybody that he wasn't from Harlan County. I just don't think it was his intention to make everyone so angry, even though that's exactly what happened.

Again, I'm sorry.
All class Granny.

Granny, you are a jewel. Please don't feel the need to apologize for him. My trip to your place was fantastic and I was running really late or I would have loved to had the chance to meet you. You are one of the absolute best representatives of any school I have ever seen and the fact that you even considered apologizing for something completely out of your control is a testament to your character. I am now a Black Bear fan and I really hope both our programs make it to the big dance and we can cheer for each other.

And when I demonized the trash talking, I am not talking about the good natured jabs between fans who respect each other, that is fun and taken as intended. It is the disengenuine, pretentious and ridiculous crap that RUITG flung around all week that I can do without. I hope you see the difference and if you thought I was talking about you, it is I who must apologize and I hope you will accept it.

They had the ball at the 5 yrd Lind going in and committed penalities. They missed exta points as well. Hats of to Belfry. A great team to be so young! Good luck in BG! I willbe rooting for ya!

here we go...
Dang Buc-a-roo, your vocabulary is amazing!!

Check your PMs, dear!

Belfry_99 Wrote:Great game tonight by the Pirates... I want to commend Harlan Co. on such a nice facility, my only fault is not having visiting locker rooms. I understand it is going to be completed in another phase. But how about a least a tent or something with some lighting ...instead of having the visitors huddle behind their bus at the half. Anyway Harlan Co. has a good team but they use way too many of their play makers both ways.. really hurt them tonight!

maybe they want it that way, some home field advantage, lol
All I'm going to say TongueirateShoTongueirateShoTongueirateShoTongueirateSho I pick Harlan county to win this one.see you all in bowling green :1: :1:
Respect for The Black Bear Nation... cheering for you guys!
Is there any highlights of this game or a full game coverage of this one anyone can post on here?
TongueirateSho Absolute LOVE being a Belfry Pirate! All day, every day!!!

First, I want to thank Harlan County for being a very gracious host to all of us Belfry Fans. It is a beautiful facility/campus. My only complaint as a fan is..the parking. I felt like I was at Kings Island without the shuttles...Scooby Doo Row 5.

Second, I cannot express how proud I am of those boys wearing those sacred Belfry jerseys. Young, Old, Inexperienced, Experienced are the terms I hear most often describe a football team, but Haywood brings the best out of all of their weaknesses and makes it works like a machine. You learn and learn quickly that you step up your game to cover where your teammate may lack and vice versa causing everyone to play at their highest personal level, I understand that there are freshman playing on both sides of the ball this year for the mighty Pirates, but these are experienced players that won the KY State Middle School Championship Title last year..with an UNDEFEATED season. They know how to play football!

Thirdly, to the seniors on this team...YOU GROUP OF BOYS ARE LEADERS!! They are as coaches for the younger boys as much as the actual coaches. They are a great group of young men who never quit and refuse to lose!

Fourth and Finally, the game itself. I want to give a big shoutout to Joey Duty who was a beast at the linebacker position last night. For a kid to step in to a position that was dominated by Peyton Mullins and Madison Ghormley for the past 3/4 years, he was in the backfield on the qb and backs quite often last night.

I thought that the pass defense looked better than I have seen from a Belfry team this early on in a long time.

The o-line and d-line.. I have to show some love for ya! I'm not sure that many know that we only had 1 O-line player back this year. These boys get it done game in and game out without much fanfare. They are the silent giants of the team.

So proud of the boys with the kicking legs. They have been practicing/going to camps this summer and it shows what hard work and dedication they have put in to it on their personal time.

Austin Hatfield, Justin Johnson, Trenity Carr, Sani Warren..they are some men among boys in the backfield. Warriors in every sense.

Just proud of all of the players for always giving this Pirate fan a show!
I had Belfry winning 14 to 12. Got extra TD for insurnace. was at game and Belfry defense dominated the 2nd half and the Johnsn kid ran all over them.
Everyone has Belfry as the underdog this year for some reason but I said from the begining our young men always step up and the coaching staff always knows how to get it out of them. On to the next
Very proud to be a Pirate!

I read all the trash this week and wanted to wait until after the game to respond. But after talking to many humble, genuine, and down right awesome Harlan County fans at the game I've got nothing bad to say about their community, school, or football team.

The campus and stadium is absolutely breath taking. The home crowd reminded me of the days we were a big 3A school, and the crowds that packed into Vipperman Stadium aka Death Valley until 2004.

I'm tickled to death that the Pirates won the game, but I'm even more excited that we all got treated to some excellent football. Folks, this game was played at a very high level and you don't get to see two teams of this caliber compete very often in EKY. This one was well worth the price of admission and the long walk from the road.
^^
Your next game will be a running clock. No disrespect meant to Southwestern, they have overcome a number of obstacles and are make the very best out of every situation that has been thrown at them, but I don't see them in this game at all.

Priceless!!!
I told you guys parking would be a nightmare!
Congrats to the Belfry Pirates. It was a great game. Great atmosphere for a high school football game. Belfry's fan base was awesome and was a pleasure to host. Sorry about the parking. It is what it is.

I have confidence in our players and our coaching staff that they will use this game as a teaching tool, improve, and move forward. I believe both teams will go far in the play offs this year and would love to be in BG with Belfry's fans.

I heard Coach Haywood on a radio show Thurs. night and one of the things he talked about was how the community embraced the football team there and how when he asked his team for a show of hands as to how many had family members who had played for Belfry was about 85% of the kids raised their hands. That's wonderful. Football is a family affair and I love that. We don't have that here yet since this is just our 6th season. One of the things I love about having sons to play football is that they learn team work, commitment, and loyalty. A word to some of our fans, when you are out in public bashing our coaches and players after a tough loss, it's the same as bashing a family member to the former player sitting near you listen to that. Show a little respect.
followed madjack last night should have went to this one, sounds likepirates in the trences grew up some
Thank you.
I've already posted once about the game and I just wanted to say again that was one HECK of a game. I am proud of my Belfry Pirates. HARLAN CO. allow me to say that you have a beautiful campus that you should be very proud of. I love the way the field sets back up in the hollar. Like one poster said I'm a Bear fan now. I will be rooting for you all as long as you are not playing Belfry lol. The atmosphere was amazing last night. It def felt like a playoff game. It has been a long time that I actually got chills running up and down me during a game because of such an electric atmosphere for a ballgame. Once again you all have great team and wonderful campus. Hope you all go far in the playoffs. God bless and GO PIRATES!!!!
