^ Sorry man. I shouldn't have responded that way. I was in a bit of a bad mood at the time and I felt like you were basically not believing me. It was silly for me to be a smart A, even if you were being a jerk, which I see now wasn't the case.
Please accept my apology.

Ashland competes in 2A for track. From the khsaa website Quinton finished 6th in the 100 with a time of 11.37
Turner from Fairview had a time of 11.52

Don't know why Devon is in this conversation seeing how he graduated unless you were just making a comparison with their speed. But hey, thanks for giving Devon some props! Quinton is a great kid and a super athlete, not a knock on him at all, my knock was on Ashland's offense. That Pistol offense is not going to win many games and for sure limits Quinton. I just don't believe Ashland has a QB that can make decisions that is needed in that offense unless of course they are going to let Quinton run the ball every time. If that is the case then he will have a great year and they will teeter around 500. But I know someone on here just won't support someone with good stats, and the coaches in the know, well, they know.
Just suppose Ashland decides to run the Wishbone. Lord, everyone knows who is going to get the ball but Ashland better find a great lineman that can be the lead blocker and hit the inside very hard. Best of luck to Ashland. A great school with great tradition!
Quickly now, use the mouse to scroll to the "Like" tab and click on it. Don't know how you could even have a mouse with ten thousand kittens and tomcats. :hilarious:

Quinton did finish 6th in the 100 after stumbling off the block. But he finished 3rd in the 200.

Jordan has been hand timed in the 4.5 range. He was named to the 8th grade all American team (played in San Antonio, tge equivalent of the army all american bowl in high school and is played the same week as the high schoolers play theirs) as a running back. Kid is a heck of a player. Somerset has a ton of speed this year, Briar Jumper BD may be able to tell us if Jordan has ever been electronically timed (I'm thinking he has). Doan will end up being one of the all time greats because of his god gifted ability, but more importantly his work ethic. The Somerset staff doesn't hype up speed and 40 times... They don't have to, the kids speak for themselves.

Jordan has been laser timed 2 times but not in last year and half. He was timed first by Athletic Republic in San Antonio as a 6th grader. He ran a 4.88 then on turf not track. Best time for any 6th or 7th grader there. He ran a 4.45 shuttle. He ran a laser 4.75 as a 7th grader at the HIT Center in Lexington and 4.31 shuttle on laser. Trust me when I say I know Jordan does not run a 4.4 on Laser but he does hand time that on a good day. But his average is in low 4.5's. His laser time would prob be in 4.6's. Everyone at somerset is timed by hand and we give an honest hand time. We understand that these do not equal laser times but we don't have a laser, as most highschools do not. We have had pleanty of kids go to College camps and be clocked at 4.8's while we are still clocking them around 5 flat. We do a pretty good job on our consistency with times. Both Will L. and Cam S. get better times at camps than they do with us. But in saying all this I think there is a big difference in 40 times and football speed.

I apologize if anyone thought I was taking a stab at Jordan. I have seen him play and He will have a heck of a career at Somerset. I also know that he very fast. I don't think people realize how fast 4.4 really is. I've had the opportunity to watch several athletes from high school to the d1 level train the past couple years. I have yet to see any be sub 4.5.

11.40 time in the Region 5 Class AA 100 meter finals good for 1st place
11.37 time in the Class AA 100 meter finals good for 6th place
Actually ran faster than he did in the region, must not have stumbled much.
Any way it goes this kid CAN fly, especially as a freshman, and is without a doubt one of the top 10 returning 100 meter runners coming back this year.

The Kentucky track site has this as Quinton's personal best times
as
100 Meter Dash 10.98
200 Meter Dash 22.55
He has been hand timed by the staff at 4.45.

Not at all!!! I just wanted to make sure that every one knows the we do not think Jordan runs a legit 4.4. I do know how fast that is and I hope Jordan works hard enough to reach that point by the time he is a senior. I will never brag on Jordan as he is my son but I will be very fair and say he is fast for his age. And i will also say that I tell all of our players at Somerset that they need to be laser timed to help their recruiting because all schools want a verified time. I'm with with you guys about hyped 40 times but unfortunately its a big part of the recruiting process and skill kids must perform well in this event! I would like to say that I do think Cam Cheuvront will time in the 4.4's on laser. He is the fastest kid I have timed. Somerset is blessed with speed this year just hope we can take advantage of it!

Did King run track? I remember seeing Devon run the 100 against Baker either at Greenup Meet of Champions or Rowan. Didn't see any other fast kids for Fairview then.

From what i have been told and read - Somersets Lange and Chevraunt maybe the fastest wr-rb combo in the mountains and maybe the state. I have been told teams would not kick or punt to those two last year- they just started kicking it out of bounds or pooched it to keep it away from those two. I know middlesboro should have - they kicked it deep to start the second half and Lange took it to the house and that kinda changed that game! A coach here in the mountains told me Lange maybe the best unknown RB around. I looked at his stats from last year but they werent anything special.

Somerset spreads the ball around a lot. Langes numbers suffered a little because of a young qb (who will be a stud this year) and because of the talent around him. Lange and Chevy are excellent players, and the great thing is they are both unselfish, and not worried about numbers. They both perform well at camps and have more than enough highlights to go to a good school and have their education paid for

Wow, a 10.98 is blazing, I don't know of anyone in the area that tops that, and as a freshman too, that is incredible!

I haven't found any 100 times better than Baker's from the Ashland area, sounds like to me a good case to be made as the fastest football player returning next year around here anyway.

Haydon Gilbert from Bell County can FLY!!!!! I don't know any times but watching him last year and during the baseball season he passes the eye test by far. He started Safety on D, kickoff returns and did all the kicking. Big things to come for this young man in the next 2 years, if he can keep his head on straight.

Is that another Bell county toe ball kicker? lol

Michael Nelson from North Laurel. Plays safety, quarterback, running back, receiver, and returns punts and kicks

Where are all the Williamsburg fans on this site. Surely they got 10 or so kids that run a sub 4 in the 40.

He is a RB/WR for Collins as well as a kick returner and occasionally DB and is listed as an ATH on Rivals and other recruiting sites. He will be a senior this year (Class of 2014).

To bad he won't get 100 yards against SK the season opener! SK will shut Collins out!

Considering the fact that Highlands is the only team to EVER hold Collins under two touchdowns and Collins has tons of offensive firepower and will have their best team ever next year, I highly doubt that will happen. I guess we will see on August 23rd.
