And i know after the game last night Kevin was looking for that little sh#t who started that chant, but he wouldn't answer his phone. No class whatso ever in those people from AC

I don't think my name calling is one bit uncalled for, those boys deserve ANYTHING coming at them. All I got to say is payback's a *****

Great basketball game tonight, period. Both teams probably shot around the 50+ percentage area. Physical at times, little chippy shots all over the floor, that happens when you compete and want to win, luckily it never amounted to much more than that. Raiders fall behind, but battle back, Vanhoose shot the lights out and Slone was extremely hot in first quarter. JSlone made big shots for the Raiders to keep them in it, Ethan shows great composure to recover and make big shots after committing the turnover and foul. Overall, one of the better total games by both teams I've witnessed in a while. Talked with some P-ville fans afterward, felt like this was one of their better played games this year also. It is refreshing to see two good teams perform on a high level in a Championship game, good job Raiders, keep your heads in the game and represent us well. What about those cheerleaders- they rule!!! Nice job by the student section also, loud, but not as bad as we are perceived by incidents that have happened earlier in the year.

Well, The Game Tonight Was A Typical 15th Region Called Game. Both Teams Played Good Hardnosed Basketball. There Was A Lot Of Shoving, Grabbing, And Hard Physical Play On Both Sides. There Were Good Calls, And Missed Calls On Both Sides. Paintsville Had A Chance To Put The Game Away, But Didn't. South Floyd Had A Chance To Fold, But They Didn't. If These Two Teams Play 10 Games, Each One Would Probably Win 5. The Infamous 5 Second Call.....The Count Doesn't Stop Untill A Player Inbounds Touches The Ball. That Did Not Happen. The Officals Let A Lot Of Walking Violations Occur On Inbounding The Ball. If An Offical Marks A Spot, Then The Player Establishes A Pivot Foot And Can't Move Both Feet. Overall It Was A Great Game To Watch. It's A Shame Either Team Had To Loose. Congrats To South Floyd For A Hard Fought Victory And Good Luck In Richmond. The Bloody Nose Can Be Blamed On The Officals For Lettng Things Get Out Of Hand AT Times. By The Way...Congrats To The South Floyd Cheerleaders For Comming In First Place. Good Luck In Richmond. :CE_DP_Ste

"halfstep" Wrote:Tough fought game! A lot of bad calls on both ends! It did seem that Sf did catch the breaks on the calls at the right time though. As for a lot of pushing the only one that appeared obvious to me was #14 for SF, He was shoving all over the place until they finally called him for it. BUT, you know as a coach, I have always taught my kids to play as physical as you can until the refs call you for it. So I must lay that one on the refs. The Tigers really have no one but themselves to blame for the lose. They were at the line 3 times to put the game away and couldn't do it! I still see a lot of young mistakes by the Tigers out there. This will change! We all tend to forget that the mojority of these boys are just Sophamores! As for the post earlier which stated that Pugh threw a punch. I didn't see it and if he really did, which I doubt, seeing that he is a very good boxer, which a lot of people don't know, he would have definately connected! But, like I said in an earlier thread also, SF is scrappy and they will play you until the bitter end! Congrats to the Raiders and keep firing them up at Richmond!
It wasn't a punch it was a kick, i saw it from where i was sitting.
I thought it would be this type of game and it was. I loved every moment of it, because these 2 schools seem to bring out the best of each other.
No one has a right to really complaign one team won one lost, the effort from both was fantastic.
This is what 15th region basketball should be.
when a game is that close and each posession is so contended then both the teams competitive juices boil over. i saw cheap shots and retaliations by "BOTH" teams, and most of the time it the second man who gets caught.
I tend to call them as I see them. I didn't think anyone played any more spitful than anyone else. But if you are from paintsville you will see it one way if you are from South floyd you will see it another.
So where does that put us?
Congratulations to both teams for a great game, congratulations to Barry Hall for his back to back championships.

Tonights game kinda reminded me of the 2002 Region Tourney game at Pike Central between these two schools. South Floyd had their chances to put Paintsville away much like Paintsville had their chances tonight, BUT DIDN'T. Paintsville could have folded when they were down by 24 in the 3rd quarter but they didn't, much like South Floyd could have folded tonight when they were down, but the DIDN'T. I believe over the last 4 years, Paintsville vs. South Floyd has become quite a rivalry, I wish they played again before tourney time rolls around, but they don't. Maybe we will get to see these two meet up again in the Region Tourney.

Well as far as the chant goes, i am from ac and i was sittin right in the same area that the chant came from, and i have known Keven since i was small, i played baseball with him in little league, and i didnt know anything about his father dieing until someone told the person who started it then he tried to tell him he was sorry, everyone from ac was willing to tell him they were sorry. And as a matter of fact the whole ordeal got blamed on me so i think i would be the one to know about it all.

was at this game it was a great one to watch! thought justin slone a great job on Landon Slone in the 2nd half! Ethan Johnson hit a couple of big shots down the stretch! As far as Ryan Johnson palming the ball he must not do it too much! If my memory serves me right he never got it called on him last year in richmond! But nice effort by Paintsville tonight neither team deserved to lose! Goodluck to sf in Richmond!

Hats off to both the teams, Cheerleaders and fans. This was a game of high emotions that ran throughout the evening. Paintsville attacked early and South Floyd countered. We all can say things about the refs or the players taking cheap shots all night and nothing will be changed. Paintsville has a talented team and so does South Floyd. They played as hard as anyone could ask for the full 32 minutes and not once did either back down. I thought that both pulled back from a pressing style because of the guards on each team handling the press. Ryan Johnson has always played the style he uses and has never been called for palming it and this includes down state where he has played many games. South Floyd did not pressure the ball full court because of the way Paintsvilles team handles the press. That is a tribute to BMR and his staff for days of work in practice. South Floyd plays in Richmond Thursday and I would almost guarantee the players will be there to support the Paintsville Girls 15th Champs when they play. I guarantee you could ask anyone on the South Floyd coaching staff and they would have nothing but positive comments about the Paintsville Tigers and Bill Mike Runyon. Great game just bad that both could not win.

Hello everyone, this is the REAL PC_U_KNOW_98. First off I would like to appologize for the recent post's that a certain someone made(i got a pretty good idea of who it was cause I left myself logged in on his computer at school). I know I will probably get in trouble for saying this but I don't care, it had to be said.
Secondly, hats off to the Raiders, they never gave up and pulled out the victory. A few questionable calls in the closing seconds of the game, yeah, but Paintsville should have never been in that situation. They had their chances to put the game away and didn't, and South Floyd took full advantage of that. This was a GREAT ball game, the best I have seen all year. JD played a hell of a game for Paintsville, as did Ethan Johnson of SF, and Wes Hall too, where did this kid come from, lol, he was knocking them down like Reddick. The cheap shots, I didn't see too many cause I never really watch what happens away from the ball, but there were a couple coming from both teams, I'm not gonna mention any names. It is a shame that one team had to lose cause they both played their hearts out.
Congtrats and good luck SF in Richmond, maybe I'll see ya down there when I go to support the Lady Tigers.
Keep your heads up Tigers, you're gonna be alright. Take this game as a learning experience, when you can put a team away early, do it, you gotta get that killer mentality about you, you can't let a team like SF hang around for too long. Keep those heads up and take it to Shelby Valley on the 31st.

Someone else asked earlier about the threes made tonight.
SF made 12 ethan, mason, Justin all connected on 4 each.
Paintsville made seven, Landon and J.D. had 3 each and Jermey pack had 1.
Rebounds where Paintsville 33 South Floyd 31
Ft paintville made 10-15 SF 6-9 (paintsville made more then SF attempted)
Five second was the right call and for a lot of you that do not know if it was 4 and he let go of the ball the count stays on until a teammate touches it (rule). plus he did have 4 timeouts to use.

So you are saying that if a team rolls the ball inbounds, the ref is supposed to count until a teammate touches the ball; which could result in a 5 secound call if it takes that long for a teammate to touch it.
01-29-2006, 03:00 AM
SF won and no one can change it now so no need to complain about calls now...Congrats Raiders

I didn't know that. That's ridiculous IMO, it should be no different than shot clock violations in college and pro, as long as it has left your hand before the last tick, know what I'm saying. Still, regardless, Paintsville shouldn't have been in that situation.

Congrats Raiders. Good luck in Richmond!!

just touches something in play. but if you roll a ball in bounds and do not pick it up til midcourt when the the time start? same thing
