Is this true?

Listen its people like you that keep this crap going! You and everybody else know that that is not true. Grow up and stop passing the blame. I am sick and tired of people from Knott county thinking that everything they do is OK and what for...basketball. Did you not see the news? Were you not embarressed? Both sides are guilty for sending stuff to each other. But stop and think about what else happened here. In the days before the game, two KIDS were sent nuices, hanging people, burning flags!! These are horrific and violent images...not something that you would turn your nose up at. And don't say well that was one or two students...because how many "LIKES" did they get. And then to turn around and scream "USA" again at these two boys and hang signs "Made in America". That's a little much don't you think. This is not about KCC vs Cordia. It's about two boys getting targeted. I agree the USA chant by itself...so what.. but to add it to the other stuff that's went on, I'm sorry but that's way over the line. Also, the principle dismissing the chants when he know what else was done, has made this much worse than what it has to be. If some people would have taken action when they should have about the pictures and apologized about for the student section then this all could have been avoided!!!! Why not just apologize and say "you know what, we went too far we're sorry"! I have yet to hear any KCC students, fans, parents, or KCC admin say this. The news has shown everything that was done and apparently the rest of the world is outraged............why aren't you? oh, yeah, and who cares what "the town" says!!!!

The guy threw out about 5 posts in a row for bait, though.

You're supposed to be subtle about it.

Despite the rivalry, I still find myself routing for Cordia and JBS, when we are not playing each other, and for the same reason I support our 14th Region representative, even if when it is not a team from our district. I think we should all keep in mind, that although we are divided on the court, we should support each other as a small town, in a big Country.
I think most everybody on both sidesis tired if this. Yes, things were sent by both sides, some undoubtedly more questionable than others. We all know and have seen this, the rest is all assumptions and you know what assuming does.
And ultimately, I do feel if this had been addressed by a simple investigation in the beginning this would have not escalated to this level. Afterall, you can't put the lid on the kettle and expect the water to not get hot, you have to turn off the heat.

With that being said, don't think this will settle down until we stop talking about it. So I think this thread should be closed. Lets get back to the excitement EKY basketball can bring this time of year.

My mommy and daddy let me stay up late. I did good on my math test so I got rewarded. I thought this was a high school website. Sounds like one.

There is absolutely no place for racism in sports or society in general!

Having said that, I have absolutely no problem whatsoever with the student section chanting USA. This is where we live after all, and the Cordia guys are from Canada. Really, I think that is just a way of expressing most people's frustrations with the influx of Canadian players in the state and Eastern Kentucky specifically. Not saying that them being here and playing basketball is wrong at all, just that I'm sure it is a sore subject to those schools that don't have any talented Canadians on their teams. I'm sure they wouldn't care at all if they were on their team though...
I wouldn't mind to have some Talented Canadians on my Basketball team. Canadian or not, They are playing in the USA. Gotta pick which one is worse, Pep Section yelling USA or A Canadian Flag with a noose or a picture of a human being hanging from a sky lift. I'm voting for the USA Chant is the least offensive. I may be wrong though.
I don't see how the chant of USA is offensive to anyone at all! They are in America. The student section is made up of Americans. What if the tables were turned and there were American kids playing at a high school in Canada and the student section there chanted Can-a-da?! Is that offensive? I say no.
I heard the Olympics are going to make us stop chanting USA. About time.
Let's summarize...

- Root against someone because they're black? Not cool.
- Root against someone because they're Canadian? Perfectly fine.

- Yelling racial slurs? REALLY bad.
- Yelling patriotic cheers? Perfectly fine.

- Shoot at someone's house and damage property? Felony offense.
- Don't shoot at or threaten someone's safety? No jail time.

- Anyone who supports/justifies sending racist pictures, etc.? You're a tool.
- Anyone who criticizes kids for chanting U-S-A? You're an idiot.

Oh, and I can't leave out...

- Louisville Cardinals? :flush:

- Kentucky Wildcats? :1:

That about cover it? Yep? Good.

The USA chant is brought up as no big deal, which its not, because people want the attention on the lesser of the 2 which was the chant. KCC brass is not going to say were sorry we were in the wrong, they keep saying both sides were in the wrong which may be true, but the worst issue here is the racial slurs and the property damage which was more then likely KCC fans. Its funny all there released statements say lets get past this and move forward, and the damage has been done nothing can be taken back, is what people say to avoid the problem and sweep it under the rug!! The USA chant is not what the focus here should be on. Obviously KCC didnt know what to really say when you have a lawyer telling you what to say.
