I guess 6'5" 290lbs isnt college size, hmmm.
Lets give credit for both teams being here, 14-0 Fairview
and Mayfield 13-1. I hope Mayfield players dont read this stuff, they need to go out and execute and see what happens. It looks like Mayfield has played the tougher schedule and is overwhelming ranked higher than Fairview in all the rankings. Does this mean anything at this point, No. Both teams should respect each other and see how it goes. I like Mayfields odds and feel that Fairview will have a tough time stopping both the run or the pass. If Mayfield forces Fairview to have to go to the passing, well............

One tackle is 6ft5 340, the other is 6ft5 305, one guard 6ft4 295, one guard 6ft300 center 6ft275. Maybe not div1 big but alot of small colleges dont have that.

Just looked it up Graves Countys line averaged more than 10lbs bigger than Murray St.

Is that fat or actual muscle build? College lines weight that much but it is backed by strength not trying to be a smart ass just wondering?

Any one that is 6'5" and weighs 300+pounds is not going to be solid muscle... they are farm boys.. eitherway its a lot of weight throwing u around.. I wanna see a roster of these fairview kids.. how do they size up...

Well obviously they do not have the muscle tone of a college line. I said as big which they are. They were a very big line for a very good 5a team which was proof to the obviously young poster earlier who was saying we couldnt handle Fairviews line. I would say that Graves County a 5a District Champ who took Warren Central to the wire had a line that at the very least was as good as Fairviews. Since we did well against that line. I like the chances that we will do ok and not be pancaked all over the field as suggested.

They through a lot of teams around and had plenty of talk about their size.. combine these two teams and would be a top contender for overallcrown... but back to the subject.. ill have to see them throwing us around to believe it.. the thing is we will be around the big line before they could flip us with a spatula....ha haaha

I feel very good about this one. I wish it would hurry up and get here. All this macho talk is killing me. I would say that I would take you up on that avatar thing, but heck, I cant even figure out how to put a Mayfield one, let alone a Fairview one. The thing is, Fairview wins either way. This is the first time they have been there. They can't loose. Mayfield has something to loose. We have to win or we won't even get a lighted escort back into town. That is the differences between the two. All that being said, we should win fairly comfortably as long as our boys come with the fire in their belly's that they should have.

I don't think that fairviews line will be pancaking anyone. Yes they are big but a little on the slow side compared to mayfields. As far as fairviews backs. #44 will not have the big yards up the middle. #3 will run the ball with some success but how much I don't know. #24 will not have a good game. And yes they beat us ( hazard ) but they where for sure not the most physical team we played this year.

I don't take PayPal but ill make you an avatar bet. I get 21 points. Mayfield wins by 21 or more ill put up a Mayfield avatar for a year. Fairview covers your 3 TD spread you have to put up a Russell avatar for a year.
There you go. Your call.
If your so sure of Fairview why do you need 21? I think we both know the answer to that one hh:

Oh no. That's a Russell avatar not Fairview. I'm not a Fairview fan.

Fairview rushed for 427 yards and and that game was never close. They dominated Hazard on the line of scrimmage.

But they aren't playing hazard again now are they.

Nope. And if they were it would be a similar result.

And don't come out wide-eyed about being in your first state championship. If it takes you a quarter to come down to earth, you will already be behind 3 touchdowns and never catch up.
Hazard was a pretty good team but just had an off night and couldnt tackles and basically Hazards defense just wasnt able to take the ground and pound game... Hazards defense was more suited for stopping the run on occasions and the passing game... Hazard scrimmaged belfry but belfry owned the line of scrimmage just as fairview did in this one. Fairviews defense also took Olinger out of the game and forced Hazard to beat them in other ways.. Fairview did there homework in the Hazard game and it payed off big time..

Ok so back to mayfields team. I think they will better up front on both sides of the ball. The only hope fairview has is #3

I think with the db's that Hazard had back and the loss of linemen this year from last, they were more geared to stop the pass. They had some really good db's. I also noticed they seemed to have problems getting things going on offense this year as opposed to the past 2 years. That is what happens when you are a small school and loose a bunch of seniors in one year. They will be better again soon though. I can't believe someone would try to bust their chops on what the results would be if they played again. You are talking to people that have been there and know football. They understand what they faced and what happened and have not got on here and made any excuses. Lets not take shots at a group when they are down.

Why not. My group has been there and done that and are now down. If the truth is a shot so be it. Don't whine about the loss and you won't get your chops busted.

They very well maybe. But don't under estimate 24 and 44. Turner sat out a lot of that game against Hazard but in the game against Raceland, who was a much more physical team up front than Hazard, he was a man. Raceland prepared to take away King the Turner and Brewer both wire them out.

You must be seeing something I didn't. I don't think anyone was crying. I think he simply stated they weren't the best they faced. He in no way implied they would have beaten them if played again. As far as your team being down, would you like it if they took shots at your team. I just know from past experience, it isn't a very good feeling.

Pork, I'm not following this guy. Have yall smoked them in the past or something? He seems very bitter against yall and somewhat towards us. You guys have nothing to hang your heads about. Has his team been in the final four the last five years. State runners up 2 of those years. State champions, 1 of those years. Maybe he needs to step back and check himself.

People take shots all the time when traditionally strong teams are down a little bit. It doesn't hurt my feelings. I actually take it as a compliment.
A couple, not many of the Hazard fans whined after the game and made statements that they were just as big and just as fast as Fairview. To anybody that watched those teams play it was obvious that just wasn't true. The called it a disgrace that Fairview was still playing because of the transfers. That comes across to me as petty.
I have nothing against Hazard or Mayfield. I am not a Fairview fan either. I do maintain they have the fastest set of skilled kids in 1A. Granted that's without seeing Mayfield in person. You guys act like your offended that anybody would imply that. It's not hard to follow.

Mayfield. 48
Fairview. 13
At the state level more than a running game has to be established.. as far as size.. we've faced size graves co. Line is college size avg around 285.. ran through them. Running game , well its know we've also shut it down all year.. 95% of the points we have allowed have been off of allowing our second and third string to have training time or bc we allowed are self to get burnt on coverage on a pass...thats tha way I see fairview scoring..
"WE ARE MAYFIELD" and on top of the west. Might as well change my name to on top of the east too.. ask beechwood.. the title game was already played.. this one is only for good measure.. yes I know this statement was made last year but the only diff is this year we are older more experienced and "injury free" ... lets see hows this statement go.... :dontthink "U cant just jump into the ring with Muhammad Ali cause u think u can box"... :dontthink
I really hope yall think this fairview team is really good.. that way when we disimate them we look that much better.. I feel after the let down last year and all them dam black feathers I had to pick outta my teeth that we lost a little respect that needs to be regained.. crow sucks ..and im not eating that sh@$ agian this year.. lmao.
I'm not even joking, that is the exact word for word thing that people from Highlands were saying in 2002 until Rockcastle County got a hold of em. If Fairview has a good enough run game I don't care what you saw from other teams or how good you think you are at stopping the run they will have some sucess on you. You can talk all day about this team plays the Fairview system and that team plays the Fairview system but the problem is,none of those teams are Fairview. Comparing how you did on a team who plays a lot like the next teams is about as reliable as comparing the score on common opponents. There is one huge flaw in your theory, what if Fairview is a lot better then the teams you are trying to compare with. I would not be surprised if Fairview don't start this game throwing the ball like crazy to set up the run. I know some people said they have a nice QB and Receivers but they just never need to throw much, I would bet that Mayfield is thinking run all the way.
