Congrats to Cooper. They played a great game. They were tickled to death and rightfully so. Best of luck in Bowling Green.

Very proud of the Black Bears. They've had a great season and have been a joy to watch. Thanks to the players and coaches for all of their hard work and dedication.

But thank you to all these coaches and support staff for your time and effort to help mentor our kids. Thanks to the players....you guys are awsome! Thanks to cheerleaders, dance team, and band and your coaches for giving us entertainment during the game.

To the seniors...boy were you a great bunch and no doubt will be special people throughout your lives. To the underclass men continue to work hard and carry a great tradition those before you have started.

Finally to #66....I love you and am so very proud of you! I have had an absolute blast with you since the day you came into my life. I'll probably never watch another Black Bear offensive play without looking for you on the field. You are one very special kid!

It's ALWAYS the right time and place for this kind of post, BearPaw!!!

I am absolutely devastated beyond words. Granny, you did everything to the sign - BUT - Where is the "Stardust is HOTTT" part of the sign????

I didn't make the sign or it would definately have mentioned BOTH of you!!!
However, Filthy Animal's better judgement and level head prevailed!!

I think she got it on WYMT-TV, too. You guys will owe her royalties.

Stardust Wrote:^ I had nothing to base anything on from the Bears perspective, but I have been on the sideline with this Jags team, and I knew they were legitimate. My fun with the great Bears fans was all in jest, and they knew that, but I certainly knew what quality of a squad that the Jags put on the field could certainly offset the tremendous travel requirement. I said it before, I'll say it again, it's only fitting that the winner of this game go on to win the state title.

Both teams would be tremendous underdogs to Bowling Green, it would only be fitting that Cooper goes on to represent both themselves and the Bears and knocking off the Giant.

I'm still thinking you owe me an avatar change...

Congrats to Cooper!!!!! Our dream season continues!!!

I wanted to thank the HC fans, they showed a ton of class before, during and after the game. You all are great fans and you have a great team that should be very proud of what they have accomplished.

That was by far the toughest defense Cooper has faced all year. Great running game also by the Bears, what a great team Harlan has and should be very proud.

I talked to my son after the game and he backed up everything I said, he said Harlan was the toughest team they have played and how good of a team they are. That was one tough fought game by both sides.

You have a fantastic stadium too!!!!!! You just need some visitors lockerrooms lol.

Good luck to all the Harlan seniors, I wish you all the very best.

We may be up against unbeatable odds next week against BG, but believe me when I tell you the Cooper team will be taking all the heart of theHarlan Co Black Bears with them to put up against the mighty Bowling Green team.

Congrats again on a great season HC and one great tough fought game tonight. I hope Cooper can make you proud next week.
#48
Good game. Congrats to Cooper. Wish Harlan County could have pulled it out tho. Was really impressed with the stadium, and the intros. don't think there is any better in the state. But one thing i didn't understand was why some Harlan fans were leaving the game with over 6 minutes to go and your team only down 10 in the state semis. shortly after people started to leave the black bears recovered a fumble and was withing striking range.

Hopefully the next time you visit Coal Miners Memorial Stadium, it will be completed!! In addition a field house with the locker rooms, the visitor's side will have bathrooms and concession stand. I made it a point to talk with some Cooper fans, and really enjoyed it. Everyone was very nice, friendly and pretty exhausted after making that drive!! Believe me, HC fans can relate to driving some distance to play a footall game.

Special shout out to Coach Bob Burnette; it was great meeting you and I will relay your message!!
(what a nice guy)

Rocksolid69: I don't understand why the fans started pulling out, either. I thought we were very much in the game at that point, too. You couldn't have pried me out of my seat with a crowbar!!!

The_Rock Wrote:Incorporate an occasional pass Coach and you would be going to Bowling Green.

Well now which is it "coach" run Whitehead more or throw it more? People like you kill me, it's always the coaches fault. It's real easy to get on here the next day and say what should have been done. Two teams play one team wins. Sometimes you get breaks and sometimes you don't. Harlan's got a good program and a good coach. And by the way I don't know if you watched the game but Cooper picked Harlan off twice.

The mom in the grey coat looks good!
#54
I made the trip to this game from Letcher Co. expecting the Bears to run over the Jags just like they have done to other teams all year (especially us!) After the first drive I thought "yep the Bears will drive um in the ground" because thats what they do. WOW! This teams D just got better as the game progressed. They gave up nothing to the outside and always seemed to have players in the right spots all the time. Not big and physical like the Bears but very, very quick to the ball. Every guy could tackle and do it good. Enuff about them, congrats Bears on a wonderful season and it was nice to see the support from surrounding schools and counties rooting for the Bears. Huge crowd, beautiful facilites, good atmosphere. Well worth the trip.
#55
The run game was working for Harlan Co the first little bit..
But then they got exposed.

Hard to believe #28 is only 145 pounds. He ran it good for the Bears.
#19 is a hoss cat as well.
Nice season Black Bears.
#56
Maybe the Bears can come to N. ky next year?

Congrats to Harlan County on a great season. I was hoping to see the Black Bears in Bowling Green. My Purples almost didn't make it, but I wish we could both have gotten there. We are looking forward to playing a very good Cooper team. It should be a very good game.
#59
They are a classy team adoptedpurple, and wonderful fan base!!
(but don't tell them I said this; it will scar my trash talking for next year)

They are; I believe, the ONLY other fan base besides Harlan County with a horn!!! LOL
Our horn is a train I believe, or mac truck..dunno; but it's hooked up to an air compressor.
Their horn is an ooooogah horn. Not nearly as classy!!

Cooper had more speed on defense than most teams we've played this year. Once they realized that, they started putting 11 in the box. Made the power running game very tough and we didn't have the speed to get blocks to get to the outside. Both teams played hard...Cooper just had the tools to expose the few weaknesses that this Black Bear team had. I'll be rooting for them next week!
