The Undertaker Wrote:This game was poorly called. First of all on Russell's first TD, one referee placed the ball at the 6yd line, the other called it at the 4 yd line. Also, at the end of the game when that potential winning TD was ran in and called back, and then Belfry proceeded to get flagged on 3 straight possessions after that to force a punt.
Sounds like someone had the referees in their pockets to me. Also, I want to address the unsportsmanlike conduct fouls on Russell, this is a dirty team, they were even trying to hurt Belfry's players when they were down 20-0. I hate a dirty team and I have NO RESPECT for one either.
I am a diehard Belfry fan and I totally disagree with this. I thought the game was called extremely well.... those refs had some very difficult calls to make and did an amazing job and the drive where we had two big penalties we were in fact guilty of both. Chapman twitched his butt at halfback on the TD that was called back, we definately held on the other penalty as well.

I've never seen you make one good comment about another team. You have dogged other teams just because they were wanting Russell to win instead of Belfry. Now you are accusing Russell of cheating and being dirty as well as the officials. If they were cheating and being dirty Russell would have been up 34-0 at halftime because the official would have said Brown was in the endzone on the long QB counter play before fumbling and the next to last play of the first half where the ball was marked inside the 1 where they could have "cheated" and said it was another TD.
Give it a break. We are all die hard fans of our teams, but sometimes you just get beat by a better team on a given night and that's what happened. Russell completely dominated the first half with the exception of 1 and a half plays. At halftime, Russell and Coach McGlone made little to no adjustments because they were playing so well. Belfry and Coach Haywood made the correct halftime adjustments and were able to get back into the game by dominating most of the 2nd half.
The back moved before the snap on the TD run so it was called back. Then there was a holding penalty after Chapman was strung out on a play and he cut back and forth in the backfield before going down. Then the QB made a terrible pitch and cost them about 15-20 yards. How is any of that cheating?
And please explain how Russell was trying to injure a player? There were numerous times throughout the game where Clark and Maynard were all up in each other's face arguing and shoving after plays where a foul could be called both ways but instead the officials would just seperate them. I think that is great officiating to not call fouls that would just be continually offsetting throughout the game and slowing down the pace.

Instead of pouring my heart out about how I feel about this game I will just keep it simple in saying congratulations to Russell, they did what many haven't been able to do in the past few years. To Belfry, don't hang your head over this. It was another extraordinary season. 2 years back to back is nothing to be ashamed over and there is always next year. Best of luck to you then.

Just now getting back online. Was a great game to be at and watch. Not the outcome I expected or wanted, but my hat goes off to Russel. They played an exceptional game and kept the Belfry D guessing the whole first half. Belfry came out with a great halftime ajustment. But it was to little to late. There were several thing that disappointed me about the game but there is no use to get into that. Great season Pirates, I for one didn't expect you all to go this far this season. Keep your heads up and your eye's on the gold for next year. Good luck Russel and I hope to see you all bring the gold home.

Glad you are happy because I'm sure he'd have been glad to trade all three for another state title.
