Russell 20 Belfry 14 FINAL
#1
Final
#2
Honestly Belfry was much better this year than I expected them to be and they had another great run in the playoffs. They will be very tough next year and I say that any team in AA Region 4 will have a hard time staying close to the mighty Pirates in 06. Great season for The Pond Creek Nation and I look for Belfry to return to Louisville next season. Congrats to Russell and good luck in Louisville, I hope you guys bring home the hardware.

First half, yes most def.

2nd half, the 2 delay of game calls that our coaching staff always gets and that final play call.....

Russell, better coach and team tonight
#9
Come on NEXT, you guys are better than that.

One exit in the State Semi-Finals and all of a sudden you're coach who has won back to back State Titles and this year got a team that was supposed to not be as good to the Semi's is not any good, come on.

Not sure if that's what he's saying 98.

Tonight they were out coached in his opinion and out played. If they don't make the mistakes especially early they win. Russell's up 14-0 before Belfry even gets the ball. I think Haywood made the adjustment's and the second half belonged to Belfry but they had two chances inside the 20 in the last 8 minutes and didn't score.

During that time had some strange play calls and penalty's.

Not what I was saying at all, just those delay of games killed the big Mo. And that last play call, a pass on 3rd and 8 with 50 secs......come on thats a plain out horrible call.
#21
Congratulations to Russell. They were the better team tonight. Go to Louisville and win it all!!!

To the Belfry Players...You have made us all proud to be from Belfry. You brought us back the semi-finals and played until the very end. Most teams would not have even tried to get back in the game and you were there. Thank you for representing the community of Belfry with class. We love you all!

congrads go out to Belfry and to Russell go get that title

On the radio it sounded like russels D could handle the belfry O but after the half it seemed as if belfry found the sceme of their D.

I was at the game. This was a great one. With all honesty I'll say that Russell SHOULD have been up 35-0 at halftime. In the first half, Russell flat outplayed Belfry in every aspect of the game.

In the 2nd half, Belfry made some adjustments and were able to get the ball moving and force some Russell mistakes that put them right back into the game. What a barn burner.

Yes, Belfry's running game was shut down. For the game Maynard was held to under 90 yards and the entire Belfry team was held to less than 140 yards rushing. Belfry's best play of the game was throwing to big #30 (Chapman?) against the undersized Russell CB after the starting CB was injured early in the 2nd half. Russell adjusted by placing their best player, Kasey Clark, on him and the next play, Clark came up with the game deciding interception.

This was a tale of two halfs but Russell was better in the end. Good luck at State.

If you take away that fumble by Belfry on the kickoff to give Russell the ball back in the 1st quarter, then it might have been a different score at halftime the other way...but should have, would have, could have, doesn't matter at all in the end.

What most people don't know is that Matt Maynard was playing with a pulled groin muscle that was hurt in the Sheldon Clark game. No excuses though, I just thought some of you might like to know that.

But also if Russell QB Tommy Brown doesn't fumble through the endzone and give Belfry the ball after a 60-70 yard run after Maynard makes an amazing play to strip it at the goal line and if on the last play of the half Russell calls a running play from the inch line I think they score and build the lead. But as you said, shoulda wouldas don't matter. I think in all the best team tonight. Belfry is extremely young and should be a contender for state again next season.

I think that Belfry will have a good team next year too. We have some positions to fill but I think that the talent is there, waiting on the sidelines.
#29
Tough luck Belfry great season happy to see you represent this area well and GOOD LUCK to Russel at state. Oh and great job Beflry seniors you showed heart and Pride to come back tonight never quit and never give up...
