Should the person or people who did that get banned also? The sad part is, according to what people on here are saying and the newspaper. The ones who came to the SF side and started the fight are graduates from BL. So now, people who already graduated are allowed, but current students are not.
There is a huge difference between an errant bottle and someone spouting profanities in front of children. Yes, whoever threw the bottle should get banned, but a bottle and a middle finger are completley different things.
***As per the FCT article, I stated that the"PERCEPTION" of SF is going to be negative. True, not everyone takes news to be the truth, but there are a considerable amount of people that aren't involved in HS sports on a day to day basis that will come away from this ordeal with a negative impression of SF, and that in general could influence others (super.) opinions on dealing out punishment for both sides.

There you go again putting all the blame on SF, if you were as close to the Joe Dirt referee as you say you were- 2 rows up 5-10 feet away-you were pretty close to where I was so you should have been able to here the profanity and see the middle fingers of the bl fans also.

Yes you did, but you make it sound as if all the profanity and other things was coming from only SF's fans,

So its ok for basketball players to walk in front of my child and throw up his middle finger...
01-12-2006, 02:51 PM
If it was right after a big fight, why did you have your child in that area? Does your child watch tv? If so, I am sure they seen and heard worse than seeing someone sticking up a finger... If your child is old enough to know what it means, the odds are, they seen it before. What would you rather happen to your child? Your child seeing someone get flipped off, or someone throwing a bottle and hitting your child with it?

Well i must say this is quite an interesting thread. I wasn't at the game and I have no bias toward either team. From what I have read, both sides are at fault and both sides should be punished. there is no way for anyone one to know who all threw the punches, or what not.. But it does seem like the BOE or powers to be are leaning their punishment more toward SF....
Sure an empty bottle probably isnt' goin to hurt anyone, but someone should have had more sense than to be so immature to throw a bottle.. No matter how mad you are..
As for the graduates, well them goin to the other teams pep section is a very old way of showing how stupid you can be.. These boys were probably just showing how big of a badass they are by walking into "enemy territory" Retarded and just asking for trouble..
I'm sure if one person was waving a middle finger and shouting curse words, then the favor was getting returned i'm sure..
Remember people it takes two to tango, so regardless of who started it, this thing got to big for people to handle.. so punishment should be dealt to both sides.
It's a shame stuff like this happens. I've heard a bunch of stories on how SF can get unruly at times.. SO before something like this can happen again, the coach needs to get control of his players. This goes for both sides.. If one guy can't keep his temper under control then he either don't need to be playing or he needs to sit on the bench till he calms down.
As for the lockerroom incident.. That is just pitiful.. the coach would have to have went in the locker room at some point or another. and if he saw it like it was then he should have made his players straighten it back up, and issue an apology. there is no need for that.. take your loss and be done with it.. leave it all on the court.
I think both sides need to issue an apology to the other side, and one to the public.. in public..
This is a HIGH SCHOOL EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITY. Not a way of life like most people like to think... this is meant to be fun for the kids.
Let's try to remember that..

I agree, good post CTD

I wasnt at the game either CTD, but one thing I have noticed. The statements from the SF people that was there are much more consistent than the statements from the BL people. I agree with you as in BOTH sides are responsible for it, and BOTH sides should be punished. SF does have some pretty umm, what is a good word for there fans... rowdy maybe. But on the other hand, when SF and BL play, both teams do with a rivalry like those two schools have. I always thought it took two to fight. Not one. Why only punish one when it takes two sides to a fight? One thing I have noticed in the last two years at playing at BL if you are from SF. When they are at SF playing, after the boys gets changed, they SF fans dont boo and stuff when the players come out from the locker room after the game. At BL, that happened last year. The boys come out to boos from the BL crowd because SF beat them in there own gym. Then they talk about SF not having class. Maybe BL wants to try to get SF sports on probation because as long as SF has a team, BL wont win district and make it to the regionals....

Regardless of if coach Rose was in the lockerroom or not, if the visiting lockerroom was found trashed after that team had left, then everyone, ESPECIALLY THE COACHES AND ADMINISTRATORS FROM THAT SCHOOL, need to be held accountable and made to pay for the damages, and they need to stand up and take the responsiblity.
That would take care of that problem.

When there are 50 or 60 people running accross the gym floor the best thing to do was to sit tight until it cleared out. By the way my daughter is 6 years old, don't try to tell me how to be a good parent. You weren't even there. Now do ppl understand why everyone in the state thinks ppl in Eastern Ky. are rude, crude and socially unacceptable? We have poor sportsmanship!!! Now I'm NOT saying every single person in EKy., but lets face it, one bad apple spoils the bunch!!!!!!!!!! We already have this stereotype that we have no manners and backwards, but now we have to go out and prove ourselves that all we do is curse, spit and fight. Not just SF or BL, but every school around here! So now you will see even more police presence and taking things away from the true sports fans! We need to read off a sportsmanship statement before each game i guess. What will that do, IDK, but it's somewhat of a start. I have been to hundreds of game in my life and it keeps getting worse every single year. You kind of expect things can happen from teenagers when emotions run high during games, but the adults are the ones who need to calm the kids down, not feed the fire or start the dang thing. So ppl. start showing that EKy. has some class, has some manners and has some sportsmanship!! Start it somewhere, start it where your at!!!!!!!!!!

THANK YOU!!! These students and players learn what they see their parents doing. Same thing at Little Leauge games with parents yelling at kids and umps. Parents need to step back and let the kids shine a little. But it raises the question is it too late for some of these "bad apples" running around in our schools and at games.

I would have to disagree with you there. SF fans do boo when the players come out of the locker room. I have been in SF arena several times over the last few years and have nearly always heard boos from that crowd when the opposing team came out of the locker rooms.

The AD was in the middle of the floor trying to keep everything calm. I agree, you never even saw SF's AD or coach in the middle of the floor where they should have been trying to help. I did see SF's Coach Hall bear hug Ryan Little and drag him back in the locker room after they came out and saw the fights because he tried to get involved. I do believe this kind of stuff would not happen with the kids (fans) if Henry Webb was still there. Keith Henry needs to get control of the school. If you did not see SF's fans run to the other side, that is because the ones painted in black sneaked back in the door where the locker rooms where after they were escorted out trying to get in BL's locker room. Most of the people on hear only know what is being said mostly by SF's fan so this thread is as lopsided as you say the FCT article is which I have not read yet.maybe if u knew half of what u were talkin about u would understand....i got escorted out in the bottom parking lot and my car was in the top i had to get back up to my car cuz i cant fly home......and as far as gettin in BLs locker room i wouldnt try and get in the losing teams locker room.....u need to know facts and obviously u dont....i shouldnt have to be worried about what side of the gym i come in on cuz its where i go to school ...you and ur betsy layne great cats should have left as soon as game was over....

LoL, Bobkats4life, since you are an adult and a parent of a six-year-old child, I would expect more maturity from you than to sit here and bicker with a teenager. That is the problem in this county, too many parents get too upset by the fan support of the opposing team. Very childish.
