South Laurel 59 Williamsburg 50
#31
Most people in the gym saw the woman flipping off the student section, but that's the first I've heard of anyone cussing a kid. Just sounds like excuses and sour grapes to me. As far as the administration controlling the student section during district, that won't be a issue. I'm hearing that the whole lower level visitors side will be student section when South plays. (See Corbin game.) What's kind of a bummer though, is that after this year, it will be ages again before we get to hear the Williamsburg faithful being so cocky. It's been fun though.

E's Army Wrote:This was one of those games of who flinched first lost. Williamsburg flinched. Grubb does not get near enough credit. He keeps teams from totally collapsing on Taylor. Teams have played two very competitive games. Expect another one next week. Grubb and Taylor are a dynamic duo.
Don't you forget aout Allen,Anders, the Crazies, and all the rest Army! Cause Stone cold said so! They are all dynamic combo and that's the bottom line!

Explain to me about the roaming Williamsburg threads. That is about stupid. That is the purpose of the forum. Do you only post on Williamsburg threads? The answer to that is no. I have never read a more ignorant statement than that and calling people a troll on here. That is what you people do every time you don't like what someone writes. I don't think there is a rule that people have to stay off threads about any team, especially Williamsburg who has bragged themselves into every comment they get. With all the the controversy at Williamsburg, I don't think any adults should be complaining about kids at a ballgame.

The Taylor kid from south is big and that's it. Yea he gets good numbers because he is so big. He isn't very skilled at all
#37
Just "big" or not...you can't teach size!!

A kid averaging a double double and over 5 blocks a game, and very seldomly getting in foul trouble that is his size, isn't skilled? I'm pretty sure he has eat every big kid he's went against alive. Even your Knox County big until he got caught with a flying knee. LoL. Just trying to figure out if this is jealousy, or just plain stupidity. I'm going to give you benefit of the doubt and say it's the homer in you talking, and you've not watched him play. The "big, unskilled" kid can shoot outside too believe it or not. There's just no need to when nobody can stop you inside. (it's a percentage thing.)
I was told that ref with the hair is a very close friend of South Laurel's coach. Conflict of interest????
OLDBALLCOACH W'burg probably played one of the worst games of the year tonight. Not hitting a three is huge.......w'burg recognized that and started driving to basket. If they call the fouls on the big kid that should have been called outcome may have been different. Having said that the big kid played well on the offensive side of the ball. Dont understand why the coach doesn't have everything go through him. He catches with man on hip where he can take a step don't know if anyone can handle him. Would like to see more individual moves in order to score before i say he's best big kid in the mountains though. But he was the difference in this game no doubt. Now on to the student section.....i have no problem at all with kids cheering, yelling at refs or yelling at players but when they touch players (they were warned about this) and them taking pictures of little kids (it did happen) then thats crossing the line. No excuse for adult to do what she did with the finger.....you're an adult. But when kids are snapping pictres of other little kids and dropping "f" bombs don't ever over exaggerate the anger of a mother. Like i said i have no problems with fans being excited and cheering and yelling. Have fun and enjoy your high school days......but the administrative adults at south needs to know when to put the brakes on and calm them down.

64SUR Both teams play great defense tonight. My only fault to this game tonight was the ref with the hair made several favored call for south. Look like is job was to get Cory Shelton in foul trouble tonight on one particular call tonight Cory step in front of a loose ball and started down court when a south player grab Cory arm from a break away. Guess who the ref call the foul on....yes Cory Shelton...The two other Ref call and Awesome game...Now I'm going to sleep. South and Williamsburg are contender in the 13th alone with clay county and North Laurel. Marked it down final four 13th region.

THE WHINE LIST
South beat Corbin and we didn't blame it on the refs we took our whipping and went home, we didn't give anybody the bird finger, the Laurel student body chanted that they hated Corbin so here is the whine list so far from the Jackets.
#40
South sure did whine when they list to Whitley
#41
Taylor is a very good big. Good feet and hands. Good skills for first year playing competitive basketball.

I don't remember anyone whining when South "lost" to Whitley. Saw several people point out that the outcome would've probably been different if the Taylor kid had played or if they didn't miss 100 ft's. Which is a fair assumption considering that South beat them by 19 with him. But South got beat with what they had by a good Whitley team fair and square. I'm still going to say we'll see a South-Whitley game in the district in the 2-3 game.

E's Army Wrote:South sure did whine when they list to Whitley

I will point this out 1 last time to you Whitley homers. Whitley didn't beat the South team that beat the burg last night. Comprende? Whitley only beat a partial south team that had no big man,who was injured from the previous game. Other big man, Mr. Allen didn't play entire last qtr, he was fouled out. Not the same as beating a healthy south team, like the one that beat Whitley by 19 the last time. Hope this clears this matter up for you,Army, but this the last time I will explain it,and I wont get into the missed F.T.'s,and all the turnovers again as it has probably been talked about enough.

P.S. Please notice I never mentioned the word "referee",or "official".
Like Williamsburg did,but claimed they had never,or would never do.

No reason to complain when your winning eh?
#45
In the 4th South made the shots needed and free throws, Wburg didn't it's that simple...Congrats to South the Taylor kid is a good one...
#46
I would say there is a very good chance that Williamsburg doesn't make it out of the district.

Williamsburg was ahead at the end of 1, 2 and 3 quarters, they don't hit a 3 and lose to a good SL team and you think they want get out of the District...:biglmao:

I heard something interesting tonight.
This was the first year ever in there history that Wburg swept Corbin during the regular season.

I believe they did in '94 when Jimmy Voight was coach.

Meant to say first time Whitley swept Corbin since '94.

BrokenArrow Wrote:Caleb taylor is not only the best big in this region. But is right there with Evan hall as the best in the entire mountains. You put that kid on Clay's roster and they would make a run at the state. And I mean a serious run. Kid is tough
I haven't seen Caleb Taylor. You seem to know your basketball. I'm thinking you
haven't seen Kyle Gullett for JC.
#52
I have seen Gullett once. My opinion on Taylor is: Hes not the most skilled Big man but he nevers leaves the paint cleans up everything that comes off and is a good shot blocker that doesnt get in foul trouble. He doesnt command the ball to get his and maybe only gets 3 to 5 touches a game in the offense. Gullett and Hall probably are more skilled but Taylors Numbers are as good as anyone in the state and Numbers dont lie.

I'm not sure who it will be but 2 good teams wont make it out of the district.!
#54
1 good team
#55
:popcorn:It's going to be exciting going into districts and regionals.Yes it is.
#56
I don't see the problem with the crazies. They get in the heads of opposing players/parents. They're one of the best student sections in the state. Hope south makes it to rupp
#57
Taylor to me is the best big in the region and he is only a sophomore.....so by the time he is a senior he should be very skilled.
#58
Does anyone know if the Williamsburg-LC game is on the radio and where?

He's actually a junior that could've been a sophomore if he had ever held back.
