You are right cougarpride 08!!! It all began with the Pulaski County game when Whitaker made that stupid call. Those boys came out of the locker room crying and vowing to win the region next year. Whitaker can take boys that have loved and played football their whole life and beat them down till they don't even want to play college ball. Anna Craft will not gew rid of him no matter what he does to those boys. Last year he blamed the senior boys for all his lack of coaching. This year it is because the quarterback got hurt. The quarterback played in the first regional game and they still lost. They won one more game this year than last year. Lcc football is going down the drain. You know what is the difference in a 19 year old college freshman, and a 18 year old senior. We can bash Joker Phillips all we want and it is ok, but we bash a high school coach and it is not. You guys think that the 19 year old feelings is less than the 18 year old senior? I went up to the school yesterday just to walk around, and guess what I saw? "Zero" weightroom training. No one thinks they should get ready for next season. I know some of them is in other sports, but not all of them is. I kept quiet all season not saying not one negative word while the season was going on, and the boys got treated the same way. Kids walked off the team, and parents mad the way there kids were treated.

I have tried to be a fair as can be to this football team. I was the biggest fan up there and still am for the young men that is up there. What ever ideas you guys have I am all for it. What would be your definition of a successful season. 6 wins? 7 wins? District runner up? I can bet my paycheck that Harlan Co is lifting right now. Are we? Are we getting these guys lifting right now? We should have that weight room packed with kids lifting weights. I don't know who the person is that keeps posting that the football boys are not weight lifting other than 7th period or not at all, but I feel that he needs to know the facts before harping and putting our boys down.First of all, the boys not in a winter sport ARE lifting during 7th period. Second, at least 12 of the starters are going after 7th period to the rec center and working out for a COUPLE of hours. They are RUNNING and LIFTING. If all of these negative comments about the program would seize, we would have more boys out. Finally, you might want to realize most (not all) the boys who have quit or don't want to play are the ones who wanted to weight lift only a 50 minute period and do no extra and be expected to play. Some of them who the public are not aware of would sit out most of the practices of the week and complain with aches and pains , and then be expected to play on Friday nights. If you want programs like Harlan and Belfry, then you need to tell these boys that it takes hard work and dedication not 2 hour practices July 15 - Nov. 1. If they do want to play and be the best, then quit complaining about who the coach is and give 100%. The boys are the program.

Are you employed by the school system? Are you dropping someone off or picking someone up from weight lifting? What is your reasoning for driving up there 3 days in a row as you have stated.( above^) Seriously if you have no justification for driving up there to a school facility, this is could be an issue. If you were dropping someone off or picking someone up, or a coach( includes volunteer) or employed by the school system, no big deal. If not, this could be construded as stalking and if driving up to a school facility with no obvious reason 3 days in a row and you not having a legitimate reason, or not being employed by the school system, that's very odd. I'm gonna' have to let Mike know about this. I really do not think he will appreciate having a spy/stalker coming to a school facility every day( you stated 3 straight days in a row) just to be nosey and has absolutely no business doing so or absolutely no reason for being at a school facility. Don't say "I HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO" actually you don't. The police could actually be called for a strange vehichle, that IS NOT dropping off or picking up a player, or by someone frequenting a school facility that is not employed by the school system and is not a parent of a player or a coach and has no affiliation with the program. I am so sick of cougarpride down grading our boys. Really if you support them so much why do you keep posting this stuff? My kid plays on the hill, and believe you me those kids read all of this stuff. Bashing the coaching staff is not getting anyone anywhere. To comment on the weight lifting thing. As a parent I personally think it is ridiculous to get on here and say that you have been on the hill 3 times to see if they are lifting. Really!! Do you have any idea how hard it is for some of those kids even to get a ride home? unlike you not everyone lives in whitesburg! Harlan county runs buses for every sport they have! Transportation is a huge issue with all of the sports at LCC! How many kids do you think would come out if they didn't have to worry about that one big aspect! When I went to whitesburg high school we had the jacket wagon ask any old timer about that! Most will tell you if it weren't for that they would have never played a sport.

Everyone misses the Howards up there. Hillard had relationships with all the boys! Whitaker is alot different in all of his approaches with these kids. Most people do not like change, but it can be a good thing.We are used to seeing just one style of football and he comes in and changes things everyone goes all to pieces. I have personally never even talked with any of the coaches and honestly I don't want to. My time in high school sports is long gone. As long as he treats all the kids the same that is all I care about! bashing him 24/7 is getting no where.I want these kids to come in with positive attitudes all this negativity is bringing the whole team down.

We have several Juniors this year that are stepping up and working really hard and to say that no one lifts is garbage. I get sick of people that have came to 2 or 3 games the whole season and then just bashes everything that has been done.Either support these kids or just stop watching them all together! Bashing everything that is done is hurting our boys. Whether Whitaker is here for 2 more years or for 2 more days those boys are who you are hurting!!!

Excuse me! Basketball practice is open to the public. Dickie, and Coach Hammonds have seen me up there and they knew I was up there. There is a thing called basketball going on up there and I have the right to watch practice. Question? Why do they need to go to rec center to lift when the weight room at the field house should be open. I do not stalk and I was only up there for five minuetes to prove my point. Problems at Letcher Central was going on way before this thread. Keep protecting the coach and the staff, but nothing is above the program.

We harp and complain about UK football and no one seems to mind. This program will never get better with Coach Whitaker and it has showed that wherever he was coaching at, they went further in the playoffs after he left. Corbin, Christian Co, and Powell Co all went further once he left. So go a head and tell Mr Whitaker! I hope the school board enjoyed paying him that much money for 7 wins in two years. Guys no matter what I say on here if young men dedicated themselves like they should in the past then we wouldn't have this conversation. If you guys think you know what needs to happen speak up.
