Canadian #3 & #13 ranked kids transfers to East Ridge??

teampaul Wrote:Maybe im the only one here, but it really is a done deal these guys are transfering to ER? Is there any reason other than they wanted exposer? I mean if they were dead set on coming to the mountains, even Pike County why didnt they go somewhere with a history of producing talent, even a team that compeated last year of the reigon. Like Shelby Valley or even a better choice in Pikeville?

Not sure how Pikeville is a better choice?
#32
Hey Thrillex, I am glad someone other than myself understands how this all worked out.
#33
I don't want to come on here and fight with anyone. I was just pointing out that these boys were not recruited by anyone. I realize that no matter what I say, some people are going to argue and disagree with me for whatever reason. This whole situation was a shot in the dark for E.R. In any case, they are great kids and with the young talent E.R. has, these boys will certainly make them a viable contender for the Regional Title. Some have got on here and made the statement that local kids will sit and not play, I disagree. I see E.R. playing a lot of kids and will be very deep on the bench. I see 10 kids getting good playing time for the Warriors.
#34
When two transfers play.........two locals sit.
#35
I smell a couple regional championships..:biglmao:
#36
sounds like there is a lot of jealousy on here. be happy that ER might have a opportunity to be on top again. and if local kids are sitting then they need to work harder. if they dont have the talent they shouldnt play. basketball practice shouldnt stop becuase the season is over, put them in camps to make them better. but instead they would much rather play video games and sleep all day. you get what you put in. if these guys come in from canada and blow all the other kids out, let them play.
#37
You must not have a kid that plays for ER.
#38
nope. but i went to school there, im about winning and could care less if parents feelings get hurt due to their kid sitting at the end of the bench. ER has a good coach that knows what they are doing and should play the best. its wrong that kids with no talent get playing time because of who their parents are and how much money they donate.
#39
The kids in Eastern Kentucky work their butts off to play the game, would you want your kid to sit if he or she has work and put all the heart into during the summer. This may possibly turn some kids away and then it may not, time will tell. Good luck to all teams!!
#40
if there is more talent on the team then it should play, would you want youre star guard sitting the bench because your kid is not as talented but still gets to play. that isnt right... do you think they give a crap in college..NO, the best plays.. personally it would make me work harder to try to outshine the other player. kids are handed everything to them.
#41
I do not have a problem with a transfer that has moved in and will be a part of the community. These kids are using the ER community for one year and will never be back, leaving the ER kids high and dry for one year. One day you will have a kid........I hope it does not happen to them but if it does lets see how you deal with it.
#42
Congrats to ER.
#43
from a first hand experience dealing with 3 different football coaches in 4 years, id say i did pretty good. if they leave after one year the other kids will play, but that should be because they are the best on the team. i hopee those two boys proves all you negative people wrong. and congrats East Ridge
#44
Not being negative toward the kids but it appears that the local adults feel like ER is not good enough to win without those kids. They can, I know most of the kids and they are talented and have worked hard to get where they are. So if some of the young talent decides to leave and go elsewhere in the county ER administration should have no problem releasing these kids and sign the papers with no hesitation, right?
#45
It don’t matter how good you are , if you break your team’s chemistry by adding two players it may break your team before it helps it. Example ( Football @ Sheldon Clark, they thought by adding the Smith kid they would be a playoff contender , well they one won one game this year) so adding new player don’t always help you)
#46
Shelby Valley 2 brings up an interesting point. How everyone plays together is a very big part of a team's success. Can everyone play together? I don't know yet, if they can't, they will struggle, no question. I have said from the start that these players don't guarantee anything for E.R. Shelby Valley has excellent talent, excellent coaches, and are in my opinion, the favorite in the Region. Betsy Layne and Johnson Central also have great talent. I have watched the kids in this Region for many years now, and I can tell you, this is the best crop of young talent I have seen. I'm very excited for the 15th Region for the next 4 years.
#47
They're here obviously for the quality of health care just not available in Canada.
#48
Why didn't they play hs ball in Canada...just AAU?

You are correct as it is a similar environment. Dense wilderness, big nasty mosquitos, isolation from modern conveniences, cold winters, and hungry bears. It is rumored they are putting an ice hockey rink on Fishtrap Lake this winter.

That Shelby Valley and Pikeville seem a little worried that the Warriors are legit again?

Heard from a source these guys are certified ballers. Hopefully, they are gone soon. I still have doubts about the legtimacy of this whole thing, but more power to the Ridge. They will most assuredly be gone by next season, however.

As for being "worried", not really. Yeah it sucks, but it isn't like we had been just lighting ER on fire every year before this anyway.

If by "we" you mean Shelby Valley, then yes. East Ridge is a combined 10-14 against Pikeville. Since East Ridge has been erect, they have won the 59th district twice (same as Pikeville) and a 15th region crown (which Pikeville has not). So yeah, "lighting ER on fire every year before this anyway" sounds pretty accurate to me also. Cool story bro, tell it again.

Okay smart guy, go ahead and tell me who was the last non-mountain kid who played for Shelby Valley's basketball team.

HA!! This is funny!

Completely serious, I would LOVE for them to put an ice hockey rink on Fishtrap. That would rock!

I think you misunderstood what PT actually said in his post...

What he said was that "it isn't like we (Pikeville) had been just lighting ER on fire every year". It wasn't a slight on East Ridge at all.

That would be very debatable, now wouldn't it? What one says and what one means can be two completely different things now couldn't they?

Your not the only one.....

School Admin., your telling me that if Preston Lemaster was not coach at E.R. and they hired someone other than him this summer, that these kids would still be at E.R.?
