^Coaching has been a let down for sure, however, there are probably not 10 coaches in the state better than Wayne Mills.

Wayne Mills isnt the coach, he went to Bell Co last year.

The coach at knox is no wayne mills.

I haven't seen knox co play this year. This Rockcastle team is definately not the same team they played last year. They have the most versatile team on both sides of the ball I may have ever seen at Rockcastle. I say Rock by 13

I think LWC was meaning that there had to be a let down in coaching because there's probably not 10 KY HS coaches better than Mills.

Think what you want. I believe that we have a GREAT head coach and staff. Some folks would not be happy if you won state. They would complain that they should have won by more. I don't think that there is a let down at all. IMHO in 5 years from now Scotty will be in that top 10 to 15% in the area.

I do however respect your opinion laker20. He does have to prove himself. With that being said what big game did coach Mills win at Knox? The only one that I can think of that he won that they where picked to lose was the Rowan game last year. I know that in 2008 they went to the wire with Bell but they still lost. Just saying. He has however been great for the program. He for sure helped bring it out of the celler. My hope is that Coach Russell gets them to the next level.

Dude, chill out! No one was bad mouthing Coach Russell or complaining about the staff. He was implying that Coach Mills is that good that there's few coaches that could fill the position without a let down.

Coach Mills took Knox Central to where it is. All that is asked of Coach Mills is to keep it at that level. If he isn't careful Knox could seriously finish 3rd in the district two years in a row. With Bell County gone everyone expected Knox to win this district. Finishing 3rd would be an obvious letdown. They could legitimately defeat Rock and Russell County and win district, just as well as they could lose both.

Scotty Russell wont have a true test until he loses Canady and the QB. Just as Parkey had to fight the fans at Rock and dig out of the 4 win hole. Scott Parkey still has some post-season work to prove but most fans have at least given him some room to breathe, lol. Not everyone could go 7-0 with after a 4 win season with all the pressure of being the coach that follows Tom Larkey. All Scotty Russell has to do is follow Wayne Mills, who has won 1 big game, according to Preacher Man.

The question that K.........N............O........................................................X fans have to answer is "Can Russell maintain or exceed the program that Mills built?"

Trinity
St. Xavier
Belfry
Mayfield
keep adding to the list if you want. Remember, these need to be coaches that are clearly better than Wayne Mills, the man chosen to follow Dudley Hilton.

My head says Rockcastle....their defense is awesome...they were always in the right position and when they tackled the ball carrier went to the ground. My heart hopes Knox can pull out the win....so that my Russell County Lakers have a shot to take district in a tie-breaker!

We will be ok on defense against Rock, they will have a hard time blocking our big boys upfront. My concern is us moving the ball and scoring. Will be a dandy of a game.

I say Barger finds a way and the Panthers pull the upset.

I'm there with you on this one. I'd like to see the Lakers have the opportunity to pull out the district at home next week.

Hope you can find the opportunity to post more frequently here at BGR. There are very few fans of the Lakers on here and I welcome the support for the team.

You have to remember that Wayne Mills was at KNOX CENTRAL! He had to spend most of his time creating and/or reviving a dead program. He did the same thing that Tom had to do at Rock. Now that he is at Bell, it wont take long for his name to rise through the ranks. I actually think Lex Cath's coach should have done more so far. He has done well, don't get me wrong, but to be able to pull from ANY student in ALL of Lexington, he should be dominating.

Russell won state a few yrs back adn I read an articl about coach Ivan Mcgloan, he is a vetern

corbin for sure, they win year in and year out, they have been to sate a few times under the coach I think

lex cath has won state and plays a very hard sched out of dist. let bell play their guys yr in and yr out

I thought you were referring to Russell County's coach for a minute, lol.

I tell you what, I asked the question incorrectly. RIGHT NOW, there might be 10 coaches better based entirely on resume. We need to revisit this question in 4 or 5 years. I said now and I mean now, but when we cannot take and evaluate someone's philosophy, football IQ, etc... and all we can take is a resume, Mills will fall short.

I just remember how bad Knox Central was, as I am sure you do too.
