They dropped none against us on a 100 degree dry field. Put those passes in play and that game looks much different. Further, we scored 28 on their D vs 22 for Rock. PCC put points on us (34 of them) by doing what they failed to do on a wet field vs Rock - toss and catch.
This game will come down to a single factor. We have to stop the inside running game that Rock will need to establish without getting caught sneaking in when that nifty QB pulls it to pass. If the Full back dive (fancy) accounts for big gains like it did at PCC we will suffer the same fate of PCC. That is no easy task with Rock's line.
It will be a dandy for sure.
Respect back at ya' FB1...... See you in a week.

LWC Wrote:If you watched that game, which it sounds as if you did, you know that Rock basically gave away 3 or 4 TD's in that game because they did ignorant things in the redzone. The game should have been more like a 30-0 or 35-0 game.Yep, I was there. And while I see your point I have to disagree. Rock made some mistakes that could have ended with scores but the real story of mistakes in this game was PCC. I realize these types of comparisons are thin as paper but some too many folks are counting us out of this game because of the obvious.
My point is both KC and Rock did learn something in the PCC game but it is not what most think. It is that both could score on PCC. The question is how was Rock's defense able to hold them to zero and we got scalded for 34? I think the answer is PCC passing game failed vs Rock and excelled against us. If I'm right, Rock will need to reproduce that passing game to get the same results and that is not going to happen. Which means they have to run it... And that will be our challenge to stop.

Yep. Each team has an extra week to prepare.

^One reason I am happy that Wayne Mills is no longer at Knox Central. He would have had the advantage with an extra week.

...And on your side, Tony Saylor has an extra week, which is just plain scary.

this is scary game. KC was preseason picked to win this district for a reason. they are a good football team.

Rock 32 Knox 20 Knox Central has played two quality oppenents and failed with both. This is a huge game for Knox though......if they lose this then they would have to win at Russell Co. to avoid a first round trip to Boyle in the playoffs.

Ugh!....Don't even remind me! I was standing right there on that side of field. Rock goes for two and tries to go off tackle to the left. Knox had 7 players to the left and four to the right of center if I remember correctly. Rock went left.:Sad04:
That was a tough year...so many games that were lost in the last 35 seconds or overtime.
They lost to Knox this way.:HitWall:
They lost to Pulaski Southwestern after having them down to 4 and over 15 on the last drive in the final two minutes and lost on a 4 and 25 Hail Mary pass across the middle with 30 seconds to go.:HitWall:
They lost to Pulaski after having them down by three touchdowns with six and half minutes to go in the fourth quarter. Another connection with about 15 seconds to go to take the lead.:HitWall:
I think some of that is helping these current kids that played then to focus when the chips are down. They don't wan't that awful feeling that UK's football team gets so many times of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.:dontthink
That is one big reason that the overtime game against Russell was so important to some of us that were around for year before last. They stuck to it and pulled the win.irateSho

I will say that Rock will win and it will be a blood bath.. Rock has two of the better defensive ends that has ever played there.. Turnovers will be key, both teams are average offensively and Rock is the much better defensive team.. Knox will have to find another weapon other than Canady.. He is outstanding, but wont be a factor in this game..
Rock 21
Knox 7

Nobody on this side of the state can prevent him from gaining ground, catching passes, and making bone jarring hits. His defense gets overlooked but he is as hard hitting safety as there is.

I know that Jeff is talented, but that's a bit overboard. A guarantee that HC, Bell, and Rock can prevent him offensively if the Panthers use him as the primary weapon from the get-go.
He will be a factor if he's used as a receiver first and a RB once/if the passing game is established. It will be hard for KC to have consistent rushing yardage if they don't establish the passing game. The biggest factor for KC in this game will be Barger and how he handles the pressure. If he can make the quick pass and avoid making mistakes (losses or bad throws) on key downs then the Panthers have a chance.

Harlan County took Jeff out of the game and Marcus made him look pretty silly on defense juking him out in the open field twice, Marcus also caught Jeff from 15 yards behind. Jeff is a good player but Harlan County is on tis side of the state with Knox and they shut him and the Panthers down. Jeff could not get anything going. I also dont recall him catching any passes.

Rock wins by 2 TD's. Gonna be a close one most of the game I do believe though.

You better go back and look at the game again. He caught 4 passes.

He also had over a 100yrds rushing. HC has a heck of a team and I hope that they go all the way. You all have a running back that is one of the best in the state in my IMHO. He was as good as anyone I have seen this year. I agree you all did shut us down. especailly up front. But let us get back on track this is a Rock/knox thread.

Canady had 150 yards all-purpose against Harlan and made several receptions--and this happened with Knox having three of thier starting linemen out-and as far as running him down (lol) watch the film Canady was tripped up and HC boy was 5 yards behind and Canady was making a cut-get it right if you want to brag--Harlan focused on # 4 All-Nite and he still put up 150 yards--ask your Coach if he can play---not to mention the Kid played the whole game with bruise ribs--so get some class and know what your talking about---Harlan has a good program don't lose the respect the team has gained -by trying to disrespect other teams-or Players---irateSho

I was just trying to correct them, not boast or brag.
How did he gain over a 100 yards when Harlan County only gave up 75 the whole night according to the KHSAA?
Team Total Stats
(Passing/Rushing yards for this game only)
5 - 0 Record (wins - losses)
208 Points Scored
41 Points Allowed
398 Total Rushing Yards
75 Total Rushing Yards Allowed
1 Total Passing Yards
174 Total Passing Yards Allowed
It also looks silly that people blame not having their lineman in the game. A good RB will excel with average linemen and Harlan County never made an excuse for not having thier starting MLB, FB, or CB in the game either. It wasn't mentioned becuase great teams hae other people step up.
What three starting linemen didn't play?
I love Knox football, but just didn't care for the particular post I was referring to.

I'm sorry he didn't have 150 all-purpose yards--he had 163 according to KHSSA.
My point is Harlan has a very good team and should be proud--KNOX has a good team and should be proud--but when you said you shut Canady down--thjat was not the truth--yeah Iguess he didn't have 300 yards and 6td's-but what fb1 was saying every team KNOX has played-has a game plan to stop #4 and so far nobody has done that--the Knox has got other players that have finally started stepping up and hopefully that will stay true into the playoffs--as for missing linemen the Harlan game (Diamond-susp) (Castle-Inj)(Lovett and Grubb set out most of game with leg and back injury-thats 4 starting lineman--no excuse--we have to have others step up---GOOD LUCK to Harlan I hope you win STATE---
