Jude and Wales
#31
Coachdad Wrote:Oh , wales 5'9" 170 pound frame is what's making the college scouts salivate ?

Why in your opinion, is Jude, who's listed at 5'10" and 175 pounds considered to small but Wales, who's actually smaller not considered to small for division one?

Old Henry Man Wrote:Are you saying that this year, Jude has faced better teams than Wales?

No it would be absolutely ridiculous to say that JC's competition has been better than Central's. My point was that they had neither one played an extremely difficult schedule, and if you compare ky opponents records they are pretty comparible. In your original post you were making it sound like Central had played the toughest schedule in the state and JC hadn't played a single decent team.
#33
It's not because one is black, one is white. Here's the thing, Jude is fast, and strong. He's fast enough to outrun someone straight away and overpower them if he meets someone ... in high school.

Wales however, is just as fast sideline to sideline and he is up and down the field. To me, that's the difference. Both guys are still too small to play halfback at a high college level, but Wales' quick lateral movements and athleticism translates to a decent slot receiver, so he gets a chance there.

Coachdad Wrote:I could agree with all the above , thanks , from one coach to another, I needed an informed opinion.

Coaches???? lol......Based on your posts more than likely you two are dads that appoint themselves coaches and wont go away no matter how hard the REAL coaching staffs try to run you off. Just tell it like it is. You plain and simply have a kid playing.

So now guys that keep the balls clean and keep the water bottles filled are called coaches, huh? Interesting.

Could you be a little more basic with your question? Your asking a pretty complicated one there Don. It's not your average everyday simpleton that can comprehend such logic. This is a very special and unique specimen you are dealing with here.

Can you dig it? Wrote::yikes:Wow. Not in a million years. I love the verbal jousts with the JC guys, but no way I'd try to make Jude out as anything but one of the best I've seen on either side of the ball. He reminds me of Travis Elliott from Ryle, another great player that may not be D1 material because of his size. No shame in that.

While verbal exchanges are fun, the truth of it is nobody will ever be able to accuse you guys of being dumb and not knowing your football.

THAT WASN'T MY POST I WAS REPLYING TO THE POSTER THAT SAID " if it wasn't for his size he would be d-1 hence there was a slight bit of sarcasm.
U SHOULD READ ALL THE POSTS BEFORE REPLYING,
Having said that I've done it before , but now I read all before posting.

I kind of agree with CoachDad, not the way he is putting it, but with what I think he is trying to say. Jude is a very nice player, but I feel like every year there is a player like him, short, stocky, fast, hardnosed country boy that piles up stats running the ball 35 times a game in a run heavy offense. Sort of like a Chuke Williams back. I'm thinking Michael West and Robert Christopher are 2 good examples. I believe both are in the record books, both were nice backs, but I think it is safe to say that both were product of their offenses.

This is just my opinion, I have no bias either way.

Actually IMHO neither one is the best back in the state.
#39
Having seen both play Wales is in a different class than Jude.

With that said, Jude is still a very, very good high school RB. Belfry, Bell County, Russell, and Lawrence County (and to a lesser extent Johnson Central) have had numerous "superstar" backs over the years who were more a product of the system moreso than their actual talent. When I think of Jude I don't think he fits that mold, I would consider him amongst the upper tier of RB's to come out of the mountains this past decade, and although the system he plays in is more conducive to piling up stats, it is apparent watching him that he truly is a very skilled RB.

The difference is Wales is an elite level athlete with elite level skills whose only hindrance is his size. If Wales were a 3 inches taller and 15 pounds heavier he would be a top tier recruit Nationally.

You put Jude into Central's system against Central's competition and he still puts up big numbers, but not to the level you have seen from Wales.

You put Wales in JC's system and JC's competition and there is no drop off in production.

Wales is just a better back than Jude! Jude is a great HS RB, but when the competition is tough, his production goes way down.

Jude puts up insane numbers against some very poor teams, He may rush for over 450 yards a game against teams like Heath, Canadian travel teams, and Woodford.

But Wales still puts up 250 games against St.X, Male, Ballard etc.

Since Wales has become the feature back at Central, he has played against the best competition KY has to offer.

St Xavier
DeSales
Ballard
Manual
Highlands
Western
Belfry
Paducah Tilghman
PRP
Male
Lafayette
Etown
Henry Clay
Seneca
Union County
Breathitt
Jtown

Now if you believe that, Jude would have put up the same numbers against these teams, than youre just naive !

I know what you posted. You gave Wales's height and weight and I gave Jude's. I just asked you a simple question. I'll ask it again, after seeing both players sizes why,in your opinion is Jude considered too small while Wales isn't? Jude is actually bigger than Wales.

I know what you were saying and I saw the sarcasm in your post but I'm still asking YOU that same question. Why,after seeing both players height and weight do you think that Jude is considered small while Wales is not? Geez daddy just answer the question.

How's everything at Sheldon Clark this year Storman N ? I figured with your past track record on here you would've had Tim Smith's name mentioned somewhere in this thread. Any truth to the rumor that you'll try to get him eligible for year number six next year?

What I'm saying is their both small why do all the d-1 recruiters offer wales but not Jude ?

With wales being even SMALLER

Jude is a whitedude, why sugar coat it. Race Card or not the facts are the facts. Name the top ten greatest RB's in NFL histroy, whatever order you have them in there is no White guy on the list! Jude is too short to convert to Safety and to small of a frame to become a fullback. NO D1 program will take a chance on him he is limited to being only a RB at the next leval. Wales on the other can be converted to DB or slot-WR or a 3rd-down back. D-1 recruiters are not stupid, black people are Faster, race card or not it can easily be proved. Once is a while a Freakish white guy comes along like Casey Combest who is blazing fast but not very often.

I don't think it's fair to either one of these young men for people, some of whom have not even watched them play, debate which is the best. They can't decide their race or competition, but what they can do is take what God has gave them, work hard, and be the very best that they can be! Now, I can't speak for Mr. Wales, but for J.J., I can say that he's is the most dedicated athlete's I have ever seen, who has worked his butt off all through school and deserves everything that he has received. I say "Great Job J.J.!" record or not, D-1 or not. You're a champion in my book.

Oh, and to get back to the original intent of the thread:
Jude is a little over 1100 yards from the record and Wales is about 1400 and some change.
#55
Good thread guys very informative , kudos to both kids
#56
Can anyone tell me how close he is to the record right now?

Maybe this thread is not for you if you don't keep up with football in the mountains.

I have said this already, but I watch a ton of high school footbal, and I have seen both play, and IMO Wales is the better of the two. He is just much more gifted athletically and has better vision.

That being said IMHO the best running back is neither in Louisville or the mountains.

Mabey this thread should stop asking me questions about Sheldon Clark when it's supposed to be about Jude & Wales. I also don't see how in the world someone can be an expert on football in the mountains & in Louisville at the same time . I don't know about you but I can't be in two places at one time, sounds like magic to me

I just travel a lot on Fridays... This year I've seen Ace play at Manual and Jude play PCC. I watched Cameron Thomas play Dunbar, and the last 2 weeks I've traveled to watch the Hopkins kid from Bourbon play.

I try to watch all of the best players for teams I don't think will make it very deep in the playoffs first, I can watch guys like Quick and Towles at State.
