Jarons Wrote:So you're saying Wales does not deserve the record if both break Homer's record and Wales finishes with more career yards than Jude just because he is from Louisville?
no of course not if wales finishes with more career yards then he gets it...duh...I am just stating a preference of who i would like to see win it dont read to much into the post it is only an opinion

[quote=cuppett777]i was from Belfry and root for all those kids over that way, i just dont like kids getting alot of carries and yrds when game is out of hand just for personal gain, and something that could get them hurt..
I am not for running up the score or anything but this is a once in a lifetime record and i think when you are this close that you have to get it..

He can break the record for sure, just to have it broked again as Wales will get another 2-3 games than jude in the playoffs.

That and in the CJ his coach makes it clear that he wants him to have it

Someone told me he watched the JJ kid drill a 230lb guy. Just ran right over top of him lol.
And as for Davenport - from what I hear - JJ is the total package compared to Davenport.
But I cannot place my own comments because I have seen neither play.

I cant believe so many of you believe he will break it.
The only way he will break it is if they leave hime in the game all year long and thats not gonna happen. Most of the games they play this year will see jude setting for the entire second half.
Even if he doesnt sit hes got to rush for over 2700 yards in 12 or 13 games at most and thats almost 225 yards a game. I just dont see it because he will be on the bench with a 100 yards or less in atleast 3 or 4 of the games.

I say Jude breaks the record!
........ then 1 week later while JC is eliminated in the playoffs Anthony Wale surpasses Jude's mark.

sstack,MayfieldCardinal,cuppett777 and Golddust.(sorry Stardust)must be drinking out of the same water bottle this year.Way early in the year to start the hating. But nothing like everyones opinions on Football.

It's always hard to repeat a great year, but good luck to the kid hope he gets it!

The record will be broken this year jude will never set the entire second half this is a kid that rushed for 584 yards in one game i mean come on he is gonna rush for just over 2700 yards this season.....if he doesnt then the wales kid will they have shown nothing but consistency since their sophomore years

I agree, I love records that get broke for all the right reasons. Davenport couldn't break this record because he played under coach Hilton, he wasn't the type of guy that was going to let a kid run wild, didn't like the risk or consequences that come along with it. Jude is a heck of a back, I give him credit. I think if he breaks the record it should be broke the right way, same for Wales. If the coach leaves Jude in late in the third when JC is up by 3-4 TD's then thats not legit in my opinion. Best of luck to the both of them and I wish them both healthy and sucessful seasons this year!

The sad part is Jude is a great kid who just wants to win. Even if he does break it I know there will be haters on here talking about a tarnished record, or something to water it down, or further take away an accomplishment. I think everyone is basing there opinion on one game last year also without fully understanding the hatred between Matney/Jude and Woodford County. I said it last year and will say it again, it was a wrestling thing spilled onto the football field.
JJ Got his title on the mat also.

The way I see it is, a record is a record. Who cares if he has 1000 yards in a game. Doesn't matter, if he's good he deserves it. Just makes it more interesting for the next kid that comes up and is close to beating it.

I'll let you know this right now...
if I have a kid that is 50 yards away from breaking a record and we are in the last game of the season.
We have one drive left and we're up 4 TDs.
I don't know if I would pull him or not.

If someone says that they also need to realize that Derek Homer probably had a few "extra" carries against some weak teams along the way as well.

He probably did can anyone remember i know it was 15 years ago but just wondering

sitting for an entire second half?:lmao: not that program. If he breaks the record, it should be with an asterisk beside it. i.e. woodford, heath, etc...

JJ is a little guy but he's tough.
He was the state wrestling champ in his weight class last year.

Overall, JJ is in no way a "little guy".
He's as solid as a brick.

J.J. is one of the finest kids you'll ever meet, and he's going to work his tail off all season long, just like he has since I've known him. And if anyone in this state deserves to be rewarded for the effort he puts in, it's that kid. I'm sure other kids work hard, too, but I personally don't know any who're working any harder, and in 15+ years of watching EKY HS football, I'm not sure I've ever seen one more driven personally. I'm cheering for him all the way. If he breaks it, he has certainly earned it, regardless of anyone's personal opinions are about his head coach.

I think this kid is a heck of a football player, but have to say that when I saw him running in track this year, that I was surprised how small he was. He is solid, but I have to kind of agree with him being on the small end.

I too think Jude will break the record, barring inj. of course. Hopefully no nonsense will take place when he is still in the game, when the game is already in hand. Can't blame the kid for running like he is supposed to. I wouldn't come out either if coach didn't take me out.
08-18-2011, 09:49 PM
It is not a lock that Jude will finish as the career rushing leader. Wales is less than a 100 yards behind.
08-18-2011, 09:55 PM
^ So he can break it, but not wind up as the all-time leader
