I think you are right OTH. Now that I have taken a good look at'em, they are pretty much loaded this season. They seem to be a well balanced team much like Knox Central was last year. Even though they have lost Darrell Cross, thier all purpose back, they fill his shoes very well with sr. Stephen Williamson and so. Keontae Moore and others. I think they may have to throw the ball a little more, but,IMO, I think they could go a long way,if not all the way to a matchup with Boyle out in Bowling Green this year. The teams they face in the playoffs had better not overlook'em as I have.

They cannot play Boyle County in Bowling Green, it would be a semi game.
Rowan has a tough road through the playoffs; this is their likely scenario with a District Championship:
Round 1: Rock/Knox/Clay/Russell Co.
Round 2: Johnson Central/Ashland
Round 3: Highlands/Covington Catholic
Round 4: Boyle/Lexington Catholic
State: Lone Oak, ACS, etc.
They may not make it out of Round 1.

Just from glancing at those first round teams I would say that they matchup pretty good with all those teams and have a good shot at making it to the second round. Also, I said that they could not would go a long way. I see them having a good team this year. I'm certainly not going to underestimate them.

Well...they play on top of a pretty BIG hill then if you wanna call it that. There are more mountains around that place than some of these other schools.

harlans quarterback is nowhere near as good as chase roark. he has a great arm and really the only qb with the potential to lay division 1 of any offensive player in the mountains. he has all of his receivers returning and harlan is known for having a weak team year after year.

Ty Saragas had a better sophomore season than Chase Roark and he did it with 1 junior and the rest sophomore recievers. As far as Roark being the only QB that will go div.1, I don't agree. When he puts up the kind of numbers that Boggs from Pike Central or Wing from Rowan Co. has I might change my mind. But not now. Unless his dad pulls some strings and gets him on at U.K.. And as far as Harlan being a weak team, we'll have to see about that. They feel they might be catching M'boro at the right time to pull off a victory. But thats yet to be seen. Good luck to the Yellowjackets.

Chase was a JR last season and you do not take into account the strength of schedule (SOS) which I am sure Middlesboro played a MUCH tougher schedules even their "sophomore seasons" Ours was tougher We played teams like Alcoa , LCC , Clay County , Frankfort , Prestonsburg while y'all had the luxury of playing Allen Central , Lynn Camp , Jenkins, Pineville and Paintsville. But last year against common opponents (Corbin , Lee County , Knott County Central and Knox Central.
Corbin (Att/Comp yards TD's/INT)
Chase 17/31 262 yards 2/0
Saragas 10/21 88 yards 1/4
Lee County
Chase 14/21 233 yards 4/2
Saragas 5/15 90 yards 1/0
Knott County Central
Chase 6/9 105 yards 1/0
Saragas 6/10 147 3/0
Knox Central
Chase 8/15 94 0/2
Saragas 14/23 146 1/0
Chase Roark
45/76 59% 694 yards 7/4
Ty Saragas
35/69 51% 471 yards 6/4

VERY, VERY telling statistics right there. I am sure in the Knott game Roark came out pretty quickly.

The point I'm trying to make "intimidator" is that according to the stats, which are very comparable, Harlan's passing game and Middlesboro's passing game are similar and where Middlesboro was last season Harlan will be this season. Middlesboro has had, over the years, a stonger team than Harlan, but not so much this season coming. Thats why I compared thier sophomore seasons. Harlan has some depth and off.line issues and Middlesboro has some off. line and defense issues. The teams are most definately on the same level and this season's game is going to be a shootout. I'm not trying to down the Jackets in any way. I have respect for coach Frazier and I wouldn't do that. I hope the best for Middlesboro this season.

Interesting comments.
DDad makes a good point that it is hard to compare apples v. oranges. What Harlan's passing game was last year may have been where M'boro was two years ago (Roark's sophomore season), but the thread is about the top passing teams this year, and there is no way around the fact that Roark is and will be a year older this year. Hard to compare the teams this year otherwise.
Intimidator makes a good point with the stats and schedule strength, but stats can be misleading. Saragas was out at half v. Knott (like Roark probably), hurt and left early v. Lee, and Corbin was Saragas' first career start, after which he threw only 3 INT and 24 TD in his next 217 passes (11 weeks). Pretty good against any competition. I'm sure Roark's stats can be painted just as pretty considering everything he has faced.
Nice debate, though a bit off the thread topic. Both are good with high potential in my opinion.
