Highlands @ Johnson Central 11/19
JC pulls the off the upset, J.J Jude run all over the blue birds...

JC 28 Highlands 20
Highlands 34
JC 14
Just found out video coverage is on the internet. Hope it's the same country boys doing the play by play as did the CC JC game. Don't know their names, but they are classics. Love to hear the main guy say "well alright, here we go!" Cracks me up! I could listen to those guys 24/7. Dad was from Knox Co. and mom is from Harlan so I can really relate to the mountain acsent.

You wouldn't happen to know the address would ya?
Diogenes Wrote:Just want to pause here to reminisce about all the 0-10, 1-9, and 2-8 seasons I've endured as a Golden Eagle fan (and there've been more than a few), how we used to be a perennial doormat, and think how incredible it is that fans of a team like Highlands take this game as a serious threat now. It seems unreal to look back on all the bad times and think this is the same football program. Just want to thank the administration, Coach Matney, the staff, the players, their parents, and the other loyal fans for all coming together and making this possible.

I am an old fan too and could not agree more. Just being in the playoffs is huge for us! Being metioned in the same sentence with Highlands is awesome. Everyone has worked hard and what ever happens Friday we will be JC fans and proud of where we are at.

We must not take Highlands lightly, they are still the favorite and State Champ. I feel Jude will come up big, but it will take a complete team effort and mistake free playing 4 quarters to win. I think Highlands will struggle with the run, but JC must defend the balanced attack of Highlands. This is a very close game to call, the team that executes their game plan best wins. I must admit I hope JC wins and moves on.
Maybe finally a little respect. Best wishes Eagles especially the D secondary. If you guys miss I might come from the stands to back and cover. Just call me a real free safety.

Highlands - 25
Johnson Central - 17
I was very unsure about this game until I read all of the posts coming from the Northland. The southern Queen City seems to be "dogin" their neighbors and that maybe a subtle reflection of uncertainess in the camp???

Please excuse my computer ignorance. I'm an old fart and don't know how to get an address. Here's how I got there. Go to IHIGH.comHighlands High School. Go to Broadcasts. Then go to page 3. Scroll down to Johnson Co. vs Highlands at 7:30 the 19th. Hope this will help! 20n10!
charlie22 Wrote:the key to this game in my opinion will be the play of highlands d line. The last two years, highlands has gotten some outstanding play out of its d line. This year highlands d line has looked vulnerable at times. If they don't come up big in this game, jc is going to score a lot of points. If the jc runners can consistently make it to the second level before being hit, it will be a long night for the highlands lbers and secondary and make for a very sore weekend.

Agreed!

The local accent around here is a special heritage indeed. JC is school located in the middle of an area rich with rural heritage. Loretta Lynn's homeplace, Butcher Holler, is a local attraction.

I used to get fighting mad when people made fun of the way I talked when I traveled away from home. Now I just figure they are jealous for sounding so vanilla...

JC has a big mountain to climb here - but when you live in the mountains you climb them. Go Eagles.

iHigh is part of the Jim Host media empire. They ought to get the names right at least.

You need to copyright that and put it on a sampler.

Just because it's part of Host's empire doesn't mean he spends big bucks to get the best broadcasters.
How long is the drive map Q says 195 miles gps says 124 miles to the school

Can relate to the mountains too. Mom is from Kildav at the foot of Black Mountain, over 4200ft. highest mountain in KY. She still calls everybody honey. Daughter in law is from Floyd Co., close to your Butcher Holler. Thats why I'm so glad to see the Birds playing a great mountain team. Wish I could go!

We are about 3 hours from Louisville if that helps. Just come down I75, merge onto I64, and merge south onto the mountain parkway. The parkway will bring you to Salyersville. When you go through Salyersville, follow the signs to Paintsville(We are about 15 min from Salyersville).
I would reccomend "Ramada Inn of Paintsville" or "Days Inn of Paintsville." Blessings on a safe trip! Come ready to watch some awesome football!

I would think it is closer to 195 miles. The Ramada Inn in Paintsville would be my choice for an overnight stay in Paintsville. Very nice.

Yeah, I stayed there during a Christmas Tournament and it was very nice!! I would definitely recommend it!

IHIGH.com , IMO is GREAT! A lot of things are done by students. If I'm not mistaken. The commentary is done by students from the media class of the local school. It may not be perfect. But, it gives them some great experience for future endeavors.

Forgot to wish the Eagles good luck! Can't wait to see this one!!!!!

I think we all agree JC has a better shot to get past Highlands this year than they ever had.
What offense does JC run? Is it a strict offense of one or two formations or do they like to change it up?
I assume Highlands is still running the same offense of two years ago?
I respected everything about your post until this! Trinity could not beat HHS by more than 1 TD, and now Bell is 3 TDs better than Trinity.

I have seen both teams play this year...last year HHS would have beat Bell by 2 or more tds as well as 2008 season, but this yr i have to stick to my guns here and predict bell is a 28pt better team. HHS just couldnt stop their run game. With that said if HHS only beats JC by a td or two it will appear i am right. if jc beats highlands after gettin ripped by bell im still right (on paper). If hhs beats jc by 4 tds or more i will gladly eat crow..dont see it happening though. and before this goes any farther jc beat CovCath by more pts than HHS did, this doesn't guarantee JC a win though. I will take a 1pt lead for the country boys in 3 OT's if thats what it take...i just dont think my nerves could handle it....best of luck to both teams hope its a hard hitting barn burner with no serious injuries.

This Bell thing is off topic and shouldn't be discussed, however, trust me man Bell would have beaten Highlands in 08, I actually seen both of them play.

If you want to start a new thread on who would have won between Bell/Highlands in any year, your'e more than welcome to start it, just create a new thread.

BTW, im sure the Bell County fans would love to post in that one
I'd like to see JC take this one, and if there is a year for it to happen IMO this is it. BUT, I just don't see it happening. Highland win again.
Good Luck JC!
