Highlands @ Johnson Central 11/19
#91
I sure hope Johnson Central wins but it's hard for me to believe they have improved enough since that beat down Bell County gave them to beat Highlands. I hope I'm wrong.

sstack Wrote:No disrespect to teams mentioned, but I Know they did not have a QB who can throw a 50 yard pass on a rope and thread it between 2 defenders like Towles. I am not blowing smoke, in fact I think HHS throws the long ball way too much. Coach loves 35+ yard passes and will not throw a 5-7 yard pass hardly at all. Towles has a great arm, poor decision to throw at times in double and triple coverage ( give him credit, the kids got big ones!). Highlands will test JC pass coverage, because that is their weakness and they want two way starters to have to run 30-40 yards every play. If JC pulls LB's back to try to stop the pass, Towles will run for big yardage. I do not think Highlands fans are worried about being stopped on O, the concern is will HHS D slow down JC running game.
CovCath scored 8 more points against JC than they did against Highlands but they had more opportunities to score because of all of the long JC TD runs. I think that you underestimate Johnson Central's defense.

Sure, but join the minority. The bulk of Northern Kentucky will be pulling for whatever team Highlands is facing.

^ JC gave up 78 points to Boyle and Bell - in your opinion, are those two teams better than Highlands?

I hope that you are wrong too. Johnson Central played Bell County after a very long bus ride. Highlands will be playing Johnson Central after a very long bus ride. Bell County is a much more physical team than Highlands and matches up well with JC. Massey ranks Bell ahead of Highlands, so I am not so sure that Highlands would not take a similar beating on Log Mountain this season.

I'm not a Highlands fan, but I guess I'm supposed to root for my region of the state

Yes - if not better definitely in the same league.

Oh, OK then. I sure hope that JC does not get upset then by HHS.

I guess I just can't compare based on the schedules of all teams

It seems like you are avoiding the most direct comparison, which is how each team played Covington Catholic, a common opponent.

My understanding was personnel, but I'll let HHS fans attest to that

Highlands dominated the first half of the Cov Cath game, and looked like they came out of half time flat and thinking the game was over. Cov Cath also went to the passing game and began moving the ball (remember my past posts that teams that beat or played close to HHS used the pass). Highlands is seldom outcoached, but in this game I think he was.
I now like that HHS is the underdog from the states stepchild of NKY.

How in the world is Highlands the underdog in this game?

I don't think that you will find many Johnson Central fans willing to give up their team's underdog status. Highlands is clearly the favorite in this game but Johnson Central is probably not quite as big an underdog as in past seasons. The poll just reflects that most JC fans have fled Highlands' sports forum.

I think you are completly right, Highlands is favorite but not by as much this year.

I am picking the Golden Eagles to win but I am picking them to win in an upset.

But it looks like the tide has changed. HHS has been terrible over the previous few weeks, even losing a game. They could not beat Cov Cath as convincingly. They are playing against arguably the best running back they have ever faced and they have to travel all they way to the unfriendly confines of the toughest confines that they have seen all season. I just hope that the Birds can compete.
It's really the same old broken record. JC has to play perfect to win. Highlands does not.
Since i am inconsiderate of others.I guess i am supposed to sit by and let the JC program be attacked on each and every thread by other inconsiderate posters.I hope the same warning has been issued to that person.I wish to see nothing but a good game Friday night between two great programs. And two great coaches..This one will definetly be settled on the field.I will continue to defend the JC program until i am not alllowed back on.
I know for a fact jc played lousy against boyle and isnt even the same team they were earlier this season, with that said, idt boyel is as good as HHS but my last penny says bell beats hhs by 4 tds.too bad we will never know.

I respected everything about your post until this! Trinity could not beat HHS by more than 1 TD, and now Bell is 3 TDs better than Trinity.

Trinity scrimmaged HHS. JC used to scrimmage and beat Belfry on a regular basis but the Golden Eagles did not win a game that counted against the Pirates until last year. Scrimmages are not games.
IMHO I think Bell of this year would win against the HHS of last year by at least 2 tds. I cant say about this years HHS team because I have not seen this team play...yet.

Stardust, seriously, get out of Highland's :moon:. I remember the night Ryle defeated Highlands, and the only thing you could do was list reasons why Ryle won because Highlands had people hurt or whatever didn't matter. Obviously, Trinity could beat highlands, and so could bell. I dont care what you say there not unstoppable this year, and when Johnson Central fan's list why there team should win you cut them down, let them have there opinions, even when Ryle won, you were there listing reasons such as who sat out and what ever, it dont matter they LOST. If JC beats them, they beat them, and if an Eagles fan picks them to win, so be it, stop being so sarcastic about it with them saying how highlands is the underdog.

The Birds will come out the something to prove. Everyone is saying they are down from last year so they'll play with a chip on their shoulder this week. From the postings you'd think they were the underdog in this game. Should be a great game.

Highlands' own fans have said that this team is down from last year's level. The fact that many JC supporters believe that Highlands ranks behind Bell County and Trinity should not be taken as a sign of disrespect. Not many programs can rank among the top five in the state in a down year. Be happy.
