Yep does anyone know why the bracket shows the game at Russell at 730. The scheduling grid clearly says D7 versus D8 just like it has now the last 3 years!!!

It sounds like both teams have come into thier own at the right time. If Russell plays with the intensity they have had the past two weeks and loose they can hold thier heads high.

thats wrong,Henry clay handed them there 1st loss at Cam

Valid point, but it is offset by the fact Belfry gave Russell a 42-0 beatdown at CAM in 08, at that point the worst playoff loss in Devil History.

What I take from those games is the homefield's role is negligible when one team is flat better than the other..

This year I see two eerily similar teams loaded with young talent who are still finding their way. Belfry is the more athletic and explosive team, but they are more prone to self inflicted wounds and to give up the big play. Russell has a slightly better defense, but they don't have the playmakers that Belfry has.

What Russell has that makes them so dangerous as that comeback mentality. I think Belfry will move the ball and score on the Devil's, but I am not sure how these young Pirates will react if Russell bows up and makes another second half run.

This game comes down to the play of Belfry's LB's and DE's and if Russell can effectively create negative plays to break Belfry's rhythm.

Right now I am thinking:

Belfry 26
Russell 21

What I take from that 08 game is that was a team full of headcases.

I don't know if I'd say Belfry is more athletic. Russell has played pretty good football this year minus a couple of games where they just imploded.

They played well against Ironton before comming up short. Mason County pulled off an on side kick that really swung that game. They really played well enough to beat Greenup, holding the musketeers to their lowest offensive output of the year, the 4 interceptions killed them. Then you have the Ashland and Raceland debacles. Those were unexplainable.

Now you have the second half performance against PCC and the game long gut check with Sheldon Clark. I like Russell's chances if they keep playing with passion

Ball control is key for the Pirates...if they hang onto the ball they win!!! Belfry by 2 tds

GC scored 4 td's in that game. How did they hold them to the lowest offensive output? GC ran the second back belly at will, just as Belfry will do. Lyle and Marsh averaged over 10yrds a carry.

Lyle and Marsh each had around 60 yards in that game. Russell only gave up 152 yards on the ground to Greenup in that game. That was Greenups lowest total on the year Im pretty sure. Yes Greenup scored 4 TDs. Two late. Russell had more rushing yards, more total yards and most telling more turnovers in that game. Russell made six trips into the red zone in that game without a TD. take away some of those turnovers and it's not a stretch to say Russell could have won that game. But they didn't. Greenup played better with fewer mistakes and won.

Here are the stats if you want to be exact.
Marsh 12 carries for 75 yards. 6.25 yards per carry

Lyle 10 carries for 62 yards. 6.2 yards per carry

That is not 10 yards per carry for either one of them and Greenup struggled to move the ball most of that game. If that's what you call running that second back through belly offense at will? Well, whatever it takes to make you feel better. Congratulations. It's basketball season. Enjoy.

Isn't it Basketball season at Greenup?

Leave Kosar alone F-ball. That 5-6 team was the best team in the history of Greenup County football. Don Gullett couldn't have made that team.
#54
Ill take 6 yrds a carry anyday. You give up 6 yrds a carry to Belfry and it will be the same outcome as GC.
#55
I think Belfry wins it but I sure hope I'm wrong. I've been wrong the last two weeks so here's hoping I'm wrong one more time.

You said it was over 10 and they ran at Will. That was blatently false. I still haven't figured out who Will is. We don't have anyone with that name.

It will be the same outcome if Russell turns the ball over 4 times.

If you mean how many times has Russell played a playoff game at CAM stadium..... Possibly twice that I can remember.... Maybe more and I'm sure if I'm wrong, I'll be corrected. I do however believe that what many are saying is.... Russell fans are a class act. Pirate fans and Russell fans have tailgated together at CAM and there is a great atmosphere when the two teams play.
