My comments were addressing someone who showed up to state that according to a scrimmage Knox is considerably better. This in the Harlan Co vs Bell thread right out of the wild blue yonder. Where did that come from? My other comments addressed a few who were insinuating that the Bears wouldn't make the effort with the playoffs coming up and would only play a few series before pulling the starters. I stated the Bears were up for the challenge. All of Harlan County and Bell County love this rivalry and if you can't get pumped for it you heart aint beating. Bell County Football has alot to be proud of and I for one know and respect the powerhouse that Bell is today. I also know that my Bears are building and heading in that same direction very soon to be the same. Is it out of the question to assume that the Bears could beat Bell? I think not. The statement about Bell being cocky? If any team does good and insinuates that they may be a mountain powerhouse or working to be that. It has been immediate that a Bell poster steps in to correct them and remind them that as long as they exclude Bell thats fine and as long as they realize that they are not nor anyone comparable to Bell County its fine to toot a little. They show up everywhere and everone knows it. Again I think Bell may very well win the state 4A Championship this year and I give them total respect., but GO BLACK BEARS!!!

The poster said Knox was significantly better based on a scrimmage where if I remember correctly, it was a scrimmage, they knox were stopped first series and in the second series a Bear was seriously injured and that was a distraction, back and forth, Knox completed a few passes, reserves were in and out and this as always in a scrimmage that don't really matter hill of beans. By no means is Knox Significantly better upon the preseason scrimmage basis. It was a scrimmage and thats that. The Black Bears will never back down from Bell or Knox and as I have said they will bring a battle. If they lose, they lose. If they win, they win. The Black Bear Nation will back them. I am getting to the point where I would be happy with a toned down version of what is planned, just to have our "own" field. It's taken the evarts and cumberland boys awhile to get used to playing there, but everything seems to be okay. Funny how winning solves a lot of things.

In a way, the Knox fan is right in that you root for a rival when they play someone outside the area or district (I can pick on my brother but no one else better). I have more roots at Harlan Independent than Harlan County, but I root for the Bears when playing anyone else, especially this Friday, as they play the underdog role against Bell (Bobcat fans are much more cocky - Harlan Co. fans are right about that). I picked HC 9-1 (granted I thought then they would beat Pulaski and lose to Bell) with a regional title pre-season, and I'll stick by that.

On the other hand, Bear fans are right if you are going to use scores to predict (as the Knox fan did). HC rocked Clay, KC barely won against Clay and played Bell close. Not sure you should count grids, but those would favor HC being competitive this Friday too.

I'll just say this and leave it at that. You said that Harlan County fans were right about Bell being cocky. You have no idea what you're talking about. Harlan County has talked the trash for two years now. I don't know what you've been reading but if you're basing Bell being cocky by post on here, how in the world could you say they're more cocky than Harlan County. Everyone has their opinion but your's is far from being accurate and for sure not fair. And on the subject of talk, Bell can talk. They've actually done something for years and years, and even more years. They win. They back their talk up. I'll be the first to admit that Bell has some crazy posters that says way too many stupid things but we're definitely not alone. All teams have them. Bell has owned this area for years. They can talk. Harlan needs to actually accomplish something before they get on here talking the trash.
And as I said earlier on this thread, I pull for Harlan County. I wish them well. What do we get from some Harlan Co. posters? How they hate us. They hate everything about Bell. WOW I cant belive that KC got brought into this but oh well that is what happens when a program starts winning year in and year out. Not a big fan of Bell but can say this they have a great coach and a team full great players its just hard to stop them all. Look at what they did to Johnson Central and they have one of the best running backs in the state. I said this when HC got the new school and went and got a good coach in 4-5 years they would be good and they are but Bell is just better right now and they have set the bar for all the teams in this area. drove by bell high and knox today on my way to work and saw dudley at the top of the hill while the players were running up n down it. got to knox central about 10-15 min later and didnt see a single player on their practice field. not saying knox wasnt in film or had all ready finished practice but it shows bell county's dedication and drive for their 2nd title in 3 years.

You didn't get the point. Every team has posters that say stupid things and go off the deep end if someone picks their opponent to win the game. BELL has them for sure. But HARLAN CO. does as well. There's not a thing wrong with supporting your team and believing in them to win a game.

Holy cow! Look, the fact is Bell has a very powerful team that will contend for a state championship. Bell fans are proud and very proud and should be. Bell should go into every game with the mindset that they will win. Every team should. Harlan County is a rising program that have shown and proved that they have a great team as well. HC also goes into every Friday Night with the same mindset that they will win. The HC Black Bear Nation is proud of the accomplishments of their team so far in these three years of existence and especially this year. Have the Bears built good enough to beat Bell County? I think the Bears will be a bigger problem for Bell than what most are thinking. I for one have faith in the Black Bears and the future Black Bear Program, just like Bell fans have for their team. No doubt Bell has IMO one of the best teams in the state. This group of Bell Seniors are a very talented group, as good as any across the state. Harlan County will have to play a flawless game and also play their best game of the year to be in the game. Can they? I think they can and will. What is wrong with me in thinking and believing this. Yes, this game has potential to be big. The HC and BC fans all love football and we may get to see the game of the year here in Harlan County. Nondistrict, but huge. Again, I think my Bears will give Bell all they want and could beat Bell. Bell fans think otherwise and thats their perogative. Nontheless, both of these teams will have great playoff potential. I hope both go to the state championship and win. Yes Dudley's first year was at the old Bell Co. High School. That was the last year of the old high school before consolidation. The year before he arrived we never won a single game. He came in and had an above 500 record that year. Can't remember the exact record though. I'm calling it a night Patriot. Hope to talk to you on here tomorrow. Talk at you later on.
