Best O-Line in State
#31
I would say East Jessamine has one of the best lines. 391 yards and 6 TDs a game on the ground. They spread the ball around with their top back getting 198 yards a game. And #63, Zack Templin is one of the best OL in the state. 6'5" 290lbs with very quick feet and a lot of power.

LOL, I dont know about momentum but he can tell you exactly how many lights there are at the field in Phelps, last year I saw that Big D tackle of Hurley's pancake him at least 8 times....I went to the Phelps/Hurley Game this year and didnt see that kid did he graduate if so did he go on anywhere? Was a Riff or Riffe something like that.

Football1 Wrote:Harlan has a very strong O-Line. Saw them at weight meet this year. Bell is big and very good. Their RT is excellent. Knox has a good Oline. Gilliam was last years Dlineman of the year and could win it for both O and D this year. Nobody blocks him well and he blocks most well. JC has JJ Jude so their Oline is allowed to nap as needed. Then again, when Bell runs the sweep with Davenport; their Oline could probably take a knee and he'd score.

Bell"s RT is big but he is has a long way to go just to be good

Greenup

The best O-Line in the state is deffinatly greenup almost 280 across the board except for one they are right side dominate with corey lyle running the balls behind cole potter 6"4 285 and brian grayson 6"0 290 they can be stopped they have been giving teams fitts all year, if any has seen them play you could tell immeditaly that they control the line of scrimage:redboxer:
#36
If I recall correctly, Lone Oak's offensive line ranges between 250-300, with the average being about the 270-280 range (though some of the players that I'm thinking of might be on the defensive line.) Whatever the case, the state game announcers were talking about how big LO's line was last year when we played Boyle, and I'm fairly certain that they haven't gone down any. ^_^
#37
I'll take Boyle, of course. Everyone is posting on here the height and weight of each lineman, or the avg across the line. That's not what makes an O-line. What makes one is heart, determination, trust, and technique. We usually aren't the 'biggest', but we block really well. Gotta give props for that...

With such an overpowering line, how has Greenup Co. come to lose four games?

you cant win every game by out scoring opponets what kills grrenup is thier deffence this disscusion is not about records it is about what o-line puts up the best numbers and thast would have to be greenup this year they r going to have a 1000 yard rusher and another who is gonna get 2000 and is trying to get the most in the state
#44
I would have to say Knox Central. Big, strong and move well. Teams have gotten very little pressure on our QB this year.

Johnson Central is pretty darn good also.

I know there are some teams (i.e. Johnson Central) that do not provide stats to KHSAA so you might consider them in debate.

Now factor in schedules and add some teams that are in one but not both (i.e. Highlands) but play that tough schedule - now the conversations can begin. :eyeroll:

Murray has had a good record as of late, but they will not play Mayfield, Paducah, Lone Oak or any other good football team in the region. Why would anyone brag about their football team and then go out and schedule either Fulton team. If you want to get better play better competition.:please:

Why do you just use rushing stats? Some teams have very balanced offenses and pass as much as they run. Doesn't the yardage count the same whether it is on the ground or through the air? You don't have to rush for 300 yards a game to have a great offensive line.
#50
I agree, just because a line averages around 6'3 and is over 250 don't mean their going to be good. I know back when Highlands beat Bell at Bell in the State Semis, their line wasn't big at all, but they got the job done all season. I know for a fact they had trouble with Bells front 4 that game though Wink

There is no category that I could find for "Total Offense."

However I think that scoring, which I posted earlier, is a big indicator of balance as well. The best O-Lines, IMO, belong to the teams that score the most. All the yardage is great but scoring is the objective of the offense. Great O Lines lead teams to score more.

jude for jc almost has 2000 already and im pretty sure hall for jc almost has 1000 also

I find Lawrence County's scoring to be null and void. When you play 3 cupcakes like these at the beginning of the season, you automatically lose. And besides Somerset currently leads in scoring from what I can see compliments of KHSAA website scoreboards with a staggering 452 points which over 9 games is on average 50 points a game. Johnson Central has a good line, and the rushing shows it. JJ Jude is more than likely the leading rusher in the state, along with Johnson Central being the leading rusher in the State easily without question.

I know everyone wants to support their team and they should, it would be hard to determine which team has the best offensive line by stats or size esp. when they're often pulled to the sideline at halftime or the third quater.
It is not justice to get on here and down grade any player esp if he is playing on one of the top programs in the state in high school football and for one of the best or possibly the best coach in the state::Clap:

Right Tackle #78 Junior, Caleb Carter 6'6" 295lb ( at the age of 15 year old this past summer benched 350 lb and squated 470 lb.)

Right Guard #61 Senior, Brandon Couch 6'1" 265lb.

Center #68 Senior, Travis Miracle 6'1" 230lb.

Left Guard #50 Junior, Brent Marcee 5'11" 250lb.

Left Tackle #62 Sophomore, Johnathon Burnett 6'4" 250lb.

Not to say their the best but pretty impressive....:yikes::yikes:

I wonder how many of Bells stats were in the first two quater only I know last week they had 62 points at halftime

I seen 2 really good O-Lines tonight at the East Jessamine, Boyle county game. Both lines IMO are in the top 5 in the state.

I think that Allen COunty Scottsville should be in the discussion.
3495 rushing yards
Tackle for loss 89 yards ( less than 10 yards per game)
6 different backs averaging 10+ yards per carry.
Team average 10.6 yards per rushing attempt.
60 rushing touchdowns.

I'd be curious to see some of the above mentioned teams stats to see how the Pats measure up.

Over ten yards per rush as a team? That's insane.

Is this an option team? Wing-T? What?
