Congrats MC -- It was obvious that team ball was a factor that BL had last night. After halftime, MC came back out and handled BL's press that gave them trouble in the 1st half. MC knew how to score against BL's defense, whereas BL came out after halftime and looked like they didn't have a clue of what to do. BL's team seems to consist of too many hot-headed attitudes, who desperately need crucial discipline, which could make them a better team in the end. I think a lack of skill in the coaching department of BL definitely made their contribution to their loss.

I will agree with you on the coaching department, or should I say the lack of. Brent Rose just got out coached again. Why in the world would you start fouling at almost 4 minutes left in the game and only down by 6? That makes no sense to me. The first half of the game BL pressed Magoffin and the Hornets couldn't even get the ball down the floor and Brent decides to not press at all in the 2nd half. I don't know who you are referring to about the hot heads though. I think that they play real good team ball, this is a very unselfish group of boys. BL just couldn't get any shots to fall.
Magoffin also has some good ball players, I can see a huge improvement also.

i dont think their overhyped becuase they just coudnt get anything to fall for them they will be better and from what i saw from magoffin county they are a whole lot better this year. Oh yeah Justin Collins didnt play in the varsity game but he did play in the jv game wich BL won

After all of this hype about BL being so great I am very surprised by this score. I knew Magoffin Co. would be tough this year. Their coach is a total hard ass which is a good thing for a basketball team. They are very quick and are gonna give some teams major problems. Look out for the Hornets. And as for BL, after this loss, they are gonna get in the gym and work as hard as ever, so i wouldn't count them out either. Both teams will be outstanding come tournament time, and that is when it really counts.

You know, teams can be very good one year, very bad the next, and back to good again if the chemistry is right with the players. As far as Dev goes, he doesnt go to MC or BL either one, and he is STILL waiting on a pm....

Congrats to the Hornets. Glad to see their program heading in the right direction. Used to be such a tough team to beat until the past couple of years. I'd like to see them get back to the way they usually are.
As for Betsy Layne, hmmmmm no surprise. They don't have anyone. 3rd in the 58th at best.

What is up with all of the derogatory comments? I mean many people on this website said that Betsy Lane would name the score on Magoffin County, and now that Magoffin has won everyone has some excuse or another. Give credit where credit is due.

Exactly Magoffin county played an outstanding game and really hustled and showed heart on the floor... more people on this site need to accept the fact that magoffin county is going to be a better ball club then previous years.. Coach West is a winning coach its in his blood to win and he will not tolerate loseing some people need to quit makeing excuses and give a little credit occasionally... great game Hornets And Betsy Lane i expect to see good things out of both teams this year!

I dont think anyone ever said they would be district champions. But winning more than 4 games in a season would believe it or not, be something to these boys. I wish them the best of luck this year! I'll be cheering them on all the way!:dance:

Also, anytime one of the players would mess up they would react by smacking the floor or something relatively close to that manner. Also, when I commented that I thought they didn't play team ball, I was talking about when they had 4 minutes to go, and any player that caught the ball from beyond the 3-point line would jack it up. Instead of making 2-20 from behind the arc, they could have had 20 lay-ups that were observably seen inside!
Magoffin also has some good ball players, I can see a huge improvement also.

I think the technical foul was just out of frustation. I agree if the 3's aren't falling they need to pass inside. They could have come back if they continued to play the 2nd half like they did the 1st half. They looked for the open man instead of throwing up 3's out of desperation and they pressed Magoffin causing many turnovers. They took 32 3's in that game and that is way too many. I saw one playing shoot a 3 standing on the white line at almost half court and Brent didn't even take him out. Maybe they thought they already had the game won before it started, sometimes a lose early is good.

Well as far as I can see the Hornets have improved greatley and as for sheldon clark, JCHS, and paintsville highschool they better be ready to play when the hornets take the floor because they have nothing to lose but their pride and I dont think it's going anywhere... Good luck Hornets

Betsy Layne could have won this game but shot way to many bad shots. Coach needs to get that under control.
