I don't see this happening with teams like Lex Cath, Harrison, Mercer, and Spencer fairly close. 5A would be closer by having all counties border the schools but driving two or three smaller(in area) counties away isn't exactly isolated. Also having built in rivals like Mercer and Lex. Cath should hurt their chances even more because that should be big draw games for crowds. Of course most teams will try and cry foul and show how spread out there district will be to avoid teh Bluebirds but I can only see a few schools that actually would be isolated in 4A and should be able to play up because of a better layout of the district, shortened distances, and having rivals already in the district. Plus I would say the KHSAA would like a marquee class which they should and which is what 4A will be if only those who should be allowed out because of geography are allowed out. It will drastically help Kentucky football by having a loaded class like 4A.

HAIL PIKEVILLE! Wrote:So let me see here.
1A District 8 will drop to 5 teams
Pikeville
Allen Central
South Floyd
Phelps.
Paintsville
2A district 8 goes to 3 teams potentially
P-Burg
Bath Co.
Betsy Layne
3A District 8 goes to 6 teams
Belfry
Sheldon Clark
Pike Central
Shelby Valley
East Ridge
Magoffin
Do I have that right?
From my understanding, ALL 8 Class A districts will have 4 teams. I posted what I thought it might be after I done some research. I would almost garauntee it will end up that way. IF the KHSAA lets Russellville play up (travel time, over 2 hours from any other Class A team in District 1 or 2), then the alignment i predicted will change.

Really? With Mercer Co., Marion Co. and Lex Cath all being that close you would think 4A would be much closer? Doesn't Mercer and Marion border Boyle?
Rockcastle is also in 4A as well as Russell Co., Harrison Co. and Taylor which are not too far away?
Would Lincoln Co., Franklin Co., and East Jess in 5A be closer than Marion, Mercer and LexCath?

Breathitt will be moving down a class to 2A.

Yes - Knox has a 100 more boys than Bell according to this data. But, since many of them wear Skinny jeans, have hair longer than my wife's, put black eyeliner around their eyes, and can't be spoken to as they have earbuds blaring screamo death tunes permanently attached to their lobes; and if you totaled all of their bench presses you would be hard pressed to get to 300 pounds - I wonder if we could get some sort of exception that would allow us to play 2A ball?

Don't worry everyone has those.

If what I'm hearing is correct, moving down won't be allowed unless a 2A team is allowed to move up.
Wish it weren't so... a district with Breathitt, Russell, and P-burg would make for AWESOME district play !! The three of them have played some true classics in the past.

NOOO don't because they would turn them into All-State players! No knock on Highlands, that is actually a compliment.

LWC Wrote:NOOO don't because they would turn them into All-State players! No knock on Highlands, that is actually a compliment.LOL... Truth is Dudley has a machine he puts such kids into that turns them into football players. So, bad idea to send them anywhere. I suppose they will just stay at Knox and keep our numbers looking WAY better than they really are.
And in sincerity - I have no issue with kids who don't wish to play football. I tried out for the choir and failed. Not my talent. And at this point in time you can't just "come out for football" unless you enjoy watching games from the sidelines. You either start young, train hard, and earn a spot or you simply will not compete if you decide to play your sophmore year in most cases.

With the move Breathitt made in their school district to place the freshmen at the middle school, only the kids from grades 10 to 12 will be counted therefore making Breathitt a 2A school instead of a 3A. As far as a district with Russell and Pburg that would be nuts. But what Im hearing they will fall back with Leslie, Middlesboro.

No that don't work. It is grades 9-12 no matter were they are housed. A school tried to do that some time ago to stay in a lower class and it did not work. They set-up an off-campus classroom.

I dont think anyone in the state would want to play highlands every year, but why in the h...ll would Boyle want to get away from Lex. cath. we have owned them over the last few years, and im sure we have a decided advantage in wins & losses vs. catholic. as for highlands if memory serves me right Boyle is ethier 3 and 1 or 2 and 2 against highlands.i know thier 1 and 1 against the birds in state title games Boyle gave highlands the worst loss they ever sufferd in a state title game. so no i dont think Boyle is running from anyone.i was just repeating what i had been told by the powers that be in my post about Boyle wanting to move to 5a.

Boyle is 9-5 vs Catholic with the 4 win difference coming only over the last two years. just sayin

The first year we played highlands we beat you guys at Boyle in a regular season game, and blowed the birds out in the state title game.the next season we lost at highlands in the regular season game which they had to forfit for useing an illeagle player.then we lost to them in the state title game.the regular season game they forfitted the illeagle player scored all thier tds.so technically Boyle is 3 and 1 vs highlands.:lmao:
