Harlan County 2010
I love reading threads involving Harlan County because of all the enthusiasm in the community about the football team. It's great for Ky football when communities like Harlan County get so fired up about their football team. Keep it up and good luck this season.
BB CLAW Wrote:Marcus McMillan definitely has speed and is illusive. Glad to hear Cody Taylor is back to working on his game, he has great ability and brings alot to the field. I hear Jordy Brewer has improved his QB skills greatly since last season and I also hear he has added some strength to aid his game. Any truth to this? I hear all of the Black Bears have increased their speed, at least some, even the linemen. I've heard that Tucker Lewis has been working very hard on improving his skills and has outstanding work ethic. The word is that Jordan Calton, Brian Owens, and Jeremiah Eldrige will reap havoc upon every opposing QB every Friday Night. Dylon Smith will be Dylon Smith and he brings alot to the field, especially much speed and grit. How is the O-line doing? Anyone? GO BLACK BEARS!!!!!

OL/DL could possibly all just go one way. That will be great. I hear the OL needs more fire.
You are right charlie22, Harlan County loves football and we are fortunate to have Coach Tom Larkey and Staff to lead these Black Bears. You need to attend a game and be early for the tailgating. I'm sure you will enjoy yourself and may turn into a Black Bear. I'm fired up HAT51. Heard some more good news today about how hard these young men have been working. They have really gained some strength and speed. The younger underclassman Bears are following suit and preparing for an opportunity to gain PT. I hear a few may earn it. Alot of potential in that group of freshman and soph class. It is a pleasure to watch the Black Bears and they seem to build a crowd wherever they are. WORK ETHIC, YOU GOTTA LOVE IT!!!KEEP AT IT!!GO LARKEY AND GO BLACK BEARS!!!!!

Thanks BB for the invite. Who knows I just may take you up on the offer if Harlan County has been playing well by the time Highlands bye week rolls around (Week 7). Last year I rode down to watch Johnson Central play Ashland during our bye week; this year maybe it's to Harlan County. All the best.
You will see that eastern KY are just as passionate about there teams as anyone in Ky. Our fans at LCC and HC is one of the best. I know it is a rivalry that is starting, but it is a respected rivalry.

Already had three " to the wire" games between the two and many more battles to come. The Bears are in preparation and this season is going to be great. Fired up here in Harlan County. When is the Pig Roast??? GO BLACK BEARS!!!!

Pig Roast is going to be at the first home game this year against Leslie County. I think that is when homecoming is also. So BB, you'll be able to enjoy the homecoming festivities and then come and sit down and eat Supper with your family prior to kick off. Those Harlan County Ridge Runners really know how to cook a hog!

Hope the boys don't lay around too much during this "dead period". It's about that time!!
Good luck to the black bears this year on a good season. Looking forward to traveling to harlan and watching the bobcats take on the black bears. In what should be a good ole fashion Slobber Knocker!!:HitWall:
I hope Dylon can stay healthy, if he can he will be dominate. I wonder who the surprises will be this year??? Maggard and Lewis both played well and earned starting jobs last year.
Good luck to the Black Bears this coming season.
It begins tomorrow!!!! Woooooooot!
Yay, first day of the new season - bout time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Some of the boys are heading to lineman camp this morning - Go kick some booty Bears!!! :Cheerlead

I hope those Black Bears come back with a nasty disposition ready to gnaw on somebody's leg! :Hungry:
Anybody hear from their baby Bear at camp last night??? Mine evidently didn't want to talk to me, lol...couldn't get him on his cell.
Any Bears standout at the 7 on 7??? And how did the filthy animals do at lineman camp???
It will be a tight race in the district between HCC and LCC.
38 Days!!!

32 days...

Don't leave out Perry Central, Clay Co, Whitley Co. and N. Laurel. Any of the mentioned could win it all or be runner up.
District 8 is always wide open. Just look at last year.

GO GIT 'EM BEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a question for you folks who are involved with the HC football program. When are they planning to get started on the new football field at the school? I know there was a lot of talk about building a very nice facility, but hadn't heard when that will take place.
Soon is what I heard, possibly playing on it in 2011! Not completely finished but good enough to host games!
Hey Harlan county fans just a couple questions for you, is the work being done at the entrance of your new school your new football field? And if so when will it be completed?

That lower entrance will be to the new baseball field, softballfield, and tennis courts is what my understanding is. The football stadium will be built across the river in that field. The baseball/softball fields were supposed to be ready for them to practice on this Fall. I don't know anything definite about the football field. Sure would be nice to see that thing get under construction.
Good luck. I hope Harlan County wins every game with the exception of the battle of 119 and Pine Mtn.
Will Harlan County be going to Holston (VA) for a benefit game on the 20th? Seen that on a forum for Holston's district.
No. This could be Harlan Ind. It is not HC. They will scrimmage Corbin that week at HC.
The Black Bears are chompin, gnashing, and big time fired up to say the least. I can't wait to see them get unleashed. GO BLACK BEARS!!!!!!!
