I would hate to be a defense trying to stop that combo. JJ and JK are both legitimate threats to take it all the way on every carry and Tanner is a Mandozer who i would not want to tackle. Taking nothing away from Hall because he is a good QB but give him an extra step to see the field from the RB position and he will be amazing. Not saying we will win state but this coming year regardless of who plays where is gonna be the best chance JC has ever had to win a state title.
I remember JJ Jude from last year; he and his contingent should do well this coming season. It definitely sounds as if JC has great opportunities going forward.

That is one game that scares me but it will be different than last year. Two completely different teams. Good luck either way.

I can't wait should be a great football game.

A person would be a fool to count Belfry out! They will always put a great team on the field.

I have great respect for the Belfry program but i think JC will be in a different class this year just like Belfry has been in years past.

Yes, Belfry has had great teams in the past and, more than likely, field a good team, but Johnson Central will be very good this year and I believe will chalk up a W in 2010.

I think you will see, alot of looks in the backfield, along with ousley in at fullback ,also leading the defense he has worked very hard in his off season for his senior year i think you will see leaders this year in all your seniors that are after the same thing a state title

I agree except for one thing, I believe Boyle's defense will even be better this year.

Has Johnson Central improved enough to beat Boyle or Bell? In what way do you see?

Jc has improved greatly. They have the potential of going 10-0 but if we don't stay focused we could lose to both Boyle and Bell by a large amount. Both are gonna have great teams. The offense for JC will be a much improved squad as compared to what was seen last year. Also, our D has the POTENTIAL to be one of the best in the state. If we are to have a powerhouse of a team this will be the year.

Does Johnson Central play Prestponsburg and Sheldon Clark in 2010? And if so, does either have a chance of an upset?
06-25-2010, 08:30 PM
Basically, Johnson Central has everything it takes to be successful this year. But I will go on to make a prediction and say that Johnson Central will finish with a record of 8-2. Losses from Bell County and Boyle County. That's a good record and a big improvement from last year. Now, that's just a prediction. Don't hurt me.

Bell and Boyle are the hardest games on the schedule and we could possibly lose both but win or lose they will each be hard fought games.
No JC does not play prestonsburg and should beat Sheldon Clark but we saw what happened last year. The reason games are played on fields and not paper is evident from last years loss to SC. JC had a much better team but SC fought hard and won on the road. A win is a win.

Just for grins and giggles, here's a look at how JC faired last year vs. both:
Boyle
Gave up right at 400 yards to Boyle (197 were on the ground and with Rees gone it will be tough for the Rebels to match that)
Only gained 102 yards vs the Rebel defense. Only 7 through the air. With all that Boyle returns and the stingy way they controlled run offenses last year, do you think Johnson Central can counter that performance without an air attack?
Bell
JC had some success on the ground vs. Bell County while racking up 221 yards but again had 0 passing.
Bell rushed for 204 yards and passed for 141.
The Bobcats return practically everyone from 2009 and will be formidable on offense again.
Last year JC gave up 358 points in 13 games. How do you see that turning around in 2010 to one of the "best defenses" in the state?

We fumbled i think 14 times against Boyle last year and looked like we were a peewee league team. Now granted Boyle was and is a great team but you will not see the same team from JC this year. If we had not fumbled and that is a BIG if we would not have given up nearly that much to Boyle. Were they better than us? YES, but i never thought we could beat them last year in all honesty. This year we have a better line and more weapons. In my opinion we can beat Boyle at home this year. It won't be easy but it can be done.
Also, against Bell i feel we should have won that game if it wasn't for a couple young players not doing what they were supposed to do. It was misery watching 3 TDs that were horrible mistakes by young players. Once again our oline struggled and should be much improved this year. But they were good young players and are more experienced this year. Bell too will be a very hard game for us and with it being on the road scares me to death.
Most of the points we gave up were due to the ineptness of our offense. When an opponent has to only go 35 yds for a score multiple times in a game it looks real bad on your D. Especially against high caliber teams like Boyle and Bell. Look at what happened when teams had to go the entire field against our young D and the stats are much better.
Don't take me wrong i am not being cocky or am i being a blind fan. I know we can lose FB games and that we may end up looking the same way but i truly feel as if this year is the year for JC football. I hope i am right and also wish well every team on our schedule except when they play us. Bring on Aug. 20th.

As has been stated, anything can happen on a given Friday night! And that's why we play the game. I think, from what I've heard, Johnson Central is a solid football team and believe they will have a winning season in 2010.

Absolutely. I think everyone on this website can agree that Johnson Central will have a winning season. They have a favorable schedule in order to do that and the fact that they have a pretty darn good team doesn't hurt either.

That was a great response.
However, according to stats, JC only lost 2 fumbles out of all they put on the ground.

They had some punt problems if I remember correctly.
But I have a problem drawing the correlation between giving up 400 yards on Defense and losing the ball in bad field positions. The Defense has nothing to do with the turnovers made. Plus, considering Boyle's short fields, the Rebels had fewer yards to "rack up" on the stat sheet.
As I see JC's three biggest losses last year, each one showed the Eagles giving up significant passing yards. (Boyle, Bell, Highlands) Has their defense fixed that?
I would once again add that Boyle's defense may be even better this year with all the starters they return and Lamar Dawson back for his Senior Year.

Fumbles lost 2 but we put the ball on the ground many more than that resulting in many long yardage situations. That equaled to Boyle having the ball all night long which racks up yards on a very tired and demoralized defense. Most of the yards were not hard fought starting in the middle of the 2nd. We were shellshocked and Boyle never let up. Yes we lost all three of those football games but yards in the air hurt us no worse than yards we lost on fumbles. You are right in the fact that if we are not improved on pass defense we will struggle at times again. But i feel that we are greatly improved. Same can be said though about offensive fumbles, O-line play, pressuring the QB, and mental mistakes. Thats why i love high school football so much. Same kids can play completely different as they mature and hopefully the freshman and sophomores we depended on last year are developed and ready to go.
To be honest i am not that concerned about moving the ball. If we keep hold of the rock i am fully confident we can run on anybody. Once again though it is greatly dependent upon our o-line coming together as a unit and playing like they did at the end of last year.

There is nothing like football on a friday night. I wish this game would hurry up and kick off. A little less than 83 days until kickoff. I can't wait.

Everyone knows Johnson Central can run the football as well or better than anybody in the state. Will they throw the ball more this year during the regular season to prepare for the playoffs?
