Harlan County 2010

cougarpride08 Wrote:Yes we do. Once I fax the flier to my district office in Pikeville, I usually get about 5 to 6 store with a bunch of guys who would go to it. Since we help out with there fund raisers they are obligated to help us. Is Harlan's Wal Mart helping you guys any?

Do you know anyone over at the Harlan Wal-Mart? PM me. We'd love to work more with our local Wal-Mart.

I think you can visibly see the results of the boys hard work in the weight room. I saw a couple coming out of school today and they are really looking strong. I also hear that we've got a couple who are really getting faster. This season is going to be exciting. They're working hard.

A big congratulations to the Black Bears for coming in first place at Lynn Camp's Weight Meet Saturday! :Cheerlead

The boys are definitely getting stronger and I know it was fun for them to go compete against other teams and come away with a first place trophy. There was some nice looking athletes at the meet. Keep it up Black Bears! Can't wait to see that power in action on the gridiron!!!!!!!

Very impressive. STRONG BLACK BEARS!!!!!!!I've heard that the Black Bears will also have built some much quicker Black Bears and some speed. Gotta love those Black Bears. It is clearly evident that they have been working hard in the offseason. Can't wait. VERY IMPRESSIVE!!GO BLACK BEARS!!!!!!!

I can not believe Lynn camp charges 8 dollars for each player and they can not give all of the kids a t-shirt. They are making a killing off of this. I also heard that one judge in particular was making the kids go to an unsafe level on the squats. No sour grapes here I had no dog in the fight and actually have a couple cousins on this harlan county team that placed. Congrats to them.
Talked to someone again today who said the Black Bears really are working their butts off. Said they have their minds right and focused on building their Coaches needs and wants. The upcoming freshman class also shows big potential. August can't get here fast enough. Keep working at it Black Bears. It will be a pleasure to watch these Black Bears take the field. GO BLACK BEARS!!!!
Prediction: Bears run the table with the exception of Bell. Will wait on a playoff prediction until closer to the season.

Strength in the weight room is a great start. Now, can they play football?

Also LCC should be an exception sir!!!!!

Yea, you boys at LCC need to take it easy on Harlan Co.

Yes, hopefully they'll take it easy on them this year. That explosive offense of LCC gave Harlan County fits last year. Rolleyes
I think this will turn into a great rivalry.

Rumor is this may turn into a bowl with a travelling trophy going to the winner each year.
Standing by my prediction, based in large part on Larkey. If crow is served, I'll eat it humbly, but I believe HC is better this year.
I saw on the realignment thread that Letcher is dropping back down to 4a in 2011 if this is for sure true it would be one less team in that district maybe good for the bears.Still think it will be a great rivalry. Good luck bears
I believe it already is a great rivalry. All three games have been nailbiters. Is football season ever going to get here. Can't wait for the good eats at the tailgate. I was able to get in on some of that last year. The Bears have been building big strength and also some better speed in the offseason. The incoming freshman class will provide some athleticism for years to come with some good sized linemen, good hands receivers, and some speedsters with a QB that can throw the ball well. Just need to get them on task, focused, and committed. Some of these, I hear, could see some playing time this year if they get committed. I've said it before, Larkey and Staff are class acts and are building a statewide respected football program. I'm anxious as can be. Are we having a pig roast this year? How bout it Mama? GO BLACK BEARS!!!!

That may or may not be true. I do not know exactly where LCC stands on changing classes. I do know they have the smallest enrollment in their district.

Still scored enough points to win though

So did HC in the regular season game. HC 12- LCC 7
Letcher Central will not change classes this year. Schedule is already out, and we will find out next year in 2012 what all changes the KHSAA will make.

Are any Harlan Co players attending individual camps this summer?
Cody Taylor has been on the camp circuit he has been to the National Underclassmen Combine, where he was clocked at 4.65 in the fourty, and bench pressed 155 lbs 26 reps. He just came back from the UK camp where he ran a 4.6 flat fourty yard dash. I hear he will also attend the Georgetown College camp later this month. Cody has spent much of his time at camp working on his pass catching skills, to help complement his game. With the speed of Taylor, and a 100% Dylan Smith and his sub 4.6 speed the Black Bears should look to get these two speedsters the ball in space and lets see if anyone can catch them.
We had Tucker Lewis, Jordan Calton, Cody Taylor and Jordy Brewer attend the 3-day camp at UK this past Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Jordan Calton also went to UK's Friday Night Blue Lights camp Friday night and to Eastern's day camp Saturday. I also think Tucker and another boy are at a UTs camp this week. The Bears are working hard this summer!

Thanks for the info. Sounds like these kids truely want to get better. That speed you are talking about sounds exciting. I here Marcus is pretty fast too.
I hate to wish everybody's Summer away, but I can't wait to watch me some Black Bear football! This year's team should be stronger and faster after another good off season. This senior group should provide some good leadership.
Marcus McMillan definitely has speed and is illusive. Glad to hear Cody Taylor is back to working on his game, he has great ability and brings alot to the field. I hear Jordy Brewer has improved his QB skills greatly since last season and I also hear he has added some strength to aid his game. Any truth to this? I hear all of the Black Bears have increased their speed, at least some, even the linemen. I've heard that Tucker Lewis has been working very hard on improving his skills and has outstanding work ethic. The word is that Jordan Calton, Brian Owens, and Jeremiah Eldrige will reap havoc upon every opposing QB every Friday Night. Dylon Smith will be Dylon Smith and he brings alot to the field, especially much speed and grit. How is the O-line doing? Anyone? GO BLACK BEARS!!!!!
