Boys Sweet 16 Pairings
#91
More Cowbell Wrote:Fine, I'll word it a different way. To say Valley got a cakewalk would be UNTRUE. Every team down at the Sweet Sixteen will be a strong opponent, or else they wouldn't be there. There won't be a team in the tournament that you can have a bad game against and still expect to win. That's what I would consider a cakewalk, and Valley will certainly find no pushovers down at Rupp.

I will agree with one part of your statement, it's definitely the best draw the 15th region has gotten in a long time. But I would consider SV to be somewhat better than "decent", as you say.

And as for the chip on my shoulder, sorry, you must have me confused with someone else. Why would I or any other Valley fan have a chip on their shoulder? After all, our team just gone done winning their second straight All-A state title...

Yes, "your" team I believe is the first AA school to win back to back All "A" titles. However that has nothing to do with my previous post. What I'm talking about is how for two years you and the other homers squalled to the top of their lungs wanting to be treated like a topdog........ But when you get it, you decide you want to crawdad and play like an underdog... Well, you can't have it both ways, so pick ya a role. And as for that chip......... Yeah, you still have it, or else you wouldn't have jumped on the "decent" reference.. So............... Which one you want to be? The big dog, with the respect you have cried about for the last two years ? Or the role of the little 15th region team that nobody respects ? Can't have them both. Confusedhh:

Just another jealous Elliot Co. fan guys.

Funny how an Elliott Co. fan is hating on Valley after winning back-to-back All "A" titles, but Elliott couldn't even win 1. It's easy to hate when you're on the bottom isn't it?

No, I don't need to do any research. Yes, the All A expanded a few years back to include some of the smaller AA schools, one of which was Valley. I know how you Valley boys don't like anyone talking bad about any of your man crushes though, so I'll leave it at that.

As for the rest of your post... was there a point to any of that? As far as I know, the SV folks don't want to be treated as a topdog, or as an underdog. All the Shelby Valley fans want is to be treated with respect, a concept you have yet to learn.

As for the chip, I believe you might want to look onto your own shoulder. That not-so-subtle dig (SV is just decent? really?) shows that someone just needs to let it go. Trust me, you'll feel better.

Didn't know you were a mind reader. I will explain.... When I said "decent" that wasn't a jab at Valley. I meant that as a team from this area that actually has a shot, usually the teams that represent our area are very weak compared to the rest of the state. As for my point..... I guess that flew over your head as well. For the respect part......... I respect the Valley team just fine, Its all the bandwagon fans that think that since their hometown team is good it qualifies them as basketball experts I without respect from.

Please show me where I said anything about Valley being AA in basketball.......Its no secret that our State has a one class system. Answer me this, since evidently your knowledge is so vast. How many times had Valley participated in the all "A" before they expanded it ? Go ahead, I'll wait......

You said that KHSAA went down and adding some of the smaller AA schools.... I do believe that qualifies as saying that Valley was a AA school. And to answer your question at the end, Valley student body has decreased significantly since around 1998 or 1999.

It's right there. You must have obviously meant that SV was an AA school in basketball, because this IS a basketball forum, and we WERE discussing basketball teams. If you were speaking of some other sport, of what relevance is that?

As for when Valley first began to participate in the All-A, it has much more to do with declining enrollment at the school. Back when the school first opened in the early 90's, the enrollment was around 900. Now, it is below 600. That's more than a third less students now than there was 15 years ago.

Fine, you want to try to re-define the word "decent", that's ok. I actually agree with you in that many years the teams from this area are not strong enough to make any noise downstate. But if there was a team that was talented enough to do so, I probably would've used a better term to describe them, like say, "good". As in, Elliott County had a "good" team last year.

But if you truly meant to say that SV has a shot to make some noise downstate, then I agree. While I wouldn't call it a cakewalk like you did, I will say that SV would be favored to win the first two rounds. After that, they would have to be considered the underdog if they faced a team like GRC, Holmes, Ballard, Scott Co., Trinity, etc.

Agreed, until the potenital Clark County matchup, they should be favored. Its going to be fun to see.
