Bell/Rockcastle rivalry

That would mean that Hilton was 0-5 against Rock when he came back. Wow. I did not know that.

Go Bobcats! :flame: TongueirateSho:redboxer:

according to khsaa greer coached in 2000, and hilton coached in 2001. not sure if they made a mistake or not. either way hiltons team drop 4 straight in 2 years.

without taking away anything from rockcastle, because they were a very good team those years you have to give hilton credit for righting the ship.

No offense is taken. Dudley Hilton and Tom Larkey are two of the best coaches in the state. In OVER 60 years of coaching COMBINED they have less than 200 losses! :yikes:

Tom made Rockcastle great and he is doing a good job at Harlan County (in time they will be even better.) and Dudley made Bell great, made Bourbon great and has made Bell great...again!

.

I wouldn't go that far, I promise. That streak against Southern is one of the most proudest things Rock has to boast about locally. There have been some wars where Rock has won in the last seconds and some games where they came back from 21 points in 1 quarter to win. Lots of families live in Madison County and I know for a fact that game is marked each year regardless of domination or not.

3Wishes, what I meant mostly by that is that the Bell County game usually has larger implications than the M.S. game. I understand that a win is a win, but if someone as well respected in the Rock football community says it is that way, I yield to you. (I am seriously not being a smart-alec, I am being serious)

To settle this whole case with the Rockcastle/Bell County rival......that started in 1982, Rock has ONLY defeated Bell 9 times overall, the last being my senior in 2006 which was twice we (ROCK) beat em. Rockcastle County and Knox Central are strongly IMO starting to become a bigger rival now basically because the last three years have really indicated the playoff spot security,No doubt Bell County will always be a district rival. We started playing KC in 1977 losing in double overtime. It was at one time the highest scoring contest in the nation's history of high school football.

You have my curiosity up, what was the score of that game?

I remember a AAA playoff game around '03 that had Pulaski County and Wagoneer I believe that was something like 86 to 64 or some crazy score.

Saw on KHSAA website that about 10 teams have scored over 100 points in a game by one team.

Just would like some measure of what that game score was.

Rocket01, is mistaken. It is no wher. A national record it may not even qualify for our own state. The score was 52-54.
I've know rocket01 to be mistaken a few times.

Evidently, Rock is Bell's biggest rivalry. That doesn't mean Bell is Rock's biggest rivalry. I would bet that the majority of people in Rockcastle would take a win over Madison Southern anytime if they had to make a choice.

if Rock could pic one game to win Madison southern or Bell. they would pick Bell. the southern rivalry is no where near the bell/rock rivalry

Everyone to their own opinion. Let Madison Southern beat you this year and then put up with the rift raft and the riding and the finger pointing and every shameful thing that can be said and done to you. Go ahead, no big deal. Let MS beat the rock this year. They would never let you live it down.
What team wants to be the first to say they lost to Madison Southern? Answer is no one. Yeah Bell is a big game, but IMO it is Madison Southern that I dont want to lose to.

for the record, the man tony saylor said it indeed was, i don't mistake every single time. I know what i talk about over 95% of the time, i went to rockcastle county high school, and was a member of the football team,i sincerely believe i know what exactly i'm talking about.
if madison southern is this week and bell is next week most of the players are allready thinking about the bell game. not the southern game. I know thats what coachs hate to hear. I remember coach parkeys first year this happened a couple players had to run sprints because they where talking about bell the week of the southern game.
People have to realize that, as soon as, or if Southern wins, the IMPORTANCE of this "rivalry" is over. No more perfect record.

That is why it is all about Bell right now.

Here is what I think about the rivaly.

If Rock gets into another district are they still going to play Bell? NO I DOUBT IT. But why not if it is such a GREAT RIVALRY. Will we continue to play southern? YES.
We never played Bell unless it was district and we have always played Southern regardless if it was district or not.

Yeah rocket 01 it may have been a record back long ago, but not now. More high scoring games now. Better go do more of your own research before posting.
Question to Bell fans.

Who would you rather beat. Rock or Knox. Only pick 1. yes we all know you will beat both this year but for rivalry sake just pick 1 please.

That is a hard one. But I will have to pick Knox because they are closer and we would hear them more than Rock no offense. Rock has more tradition that Knox so a loss to them wouldn't be as heartbreaking as it would be to Knox.JMO

Thats why I said It WAS AT ONE TIME the highest scoring contest in the nation's history of high school football. Rock/Bell rival will be always one of the state's well known high school rivals.

Well if Bell fans would rather beat Knox than Rock, what do you have to say now? I always said Southern was the rival we would rather beat.

actually in 1926 - a high school team beat another 255-0 haven high over sylvia

so that game is not even close.

Thanks for proving rocket01 wrong, I think sometimes he never thinks he is wrong.
