JJ Reynolds has the best foot work I have seen on a quarterback in a few years and throws a great ball but his size may hurt him some and definitely the best runner at quarterback Pikeville has had in a few years.some one posted some videos of him on social media the other day and he really look good and he was working already. Now we will see if it transfers to the field this summer.

Don't know his height but not that many years ago (2014 ) a Pikeville QB by the name of Austin Charles did outstanding at that position, and if I'm not mistaken he might have been a little shorter than Reynolds in stature. Charles was a Senior in 2014 and led his team to a 29-20 win over Belfry that season. 11-1 record and making it to the 2nd round of the playoffs that year. Much impressed Reynolds is already working for the upcoming season. With Reynolds at the helm this season, Cooper Scott coming in behind him, and Kade Johnson rounding it out, future is looking championship level for the unforeseeable future. IMO, and of course the play calling issue, special team mistakes, and if player injuries are all in check will
have a bearing on the success of this team in 2025.

He has always looked like a million $$$ on the field IMO P1. Do you think his size may not transfer to the field or play calling if not fixed may hold him back? I've been wrong plenty of times but I think he's going to be a star.

Barring being decimated from injuries like last year, the Panthers will be back at Kroger playing for another state title in early December.

Has anybody heard what the schedule is looking like? I have heard they added Christian Academy of Louisville and are keeping Johnson Central on the schedule and they will keep playing Belfry and Raceland. Paintsville and Hazard in district play obviously. Other than that, haven’t heard anything. Seeing other programs releasing theirs has me looking forward to the fall.

CAL is first game in Louisville and I have heard Cabell Midland for Pike County Bowl but may not be correct. They will play at Belfry and Raceland at home. I haven’t heard about JC or LCA. With Coach Charles retiring and his connection to Pikeville, that game may go away. Still have at Hazard and Paintsville at home in district play. The rest has been quiet. I agree it is fun seeing all the mountain teams schedules come out. Gives the itch for football season.

If you want to win titles these days, you damn sure better schedule with RPI in mind. If they don't understand it by now , in Corbin, then they never will. Home games are important in rounds 3 and 4.

Pikeville has continued to play a difficult schedule despite RPI. Two reasons. They aren’t scared and most middle of the road teams won’t schedule them. Schedule didn’t have anything to do with the injuries they had. Brutal schedule but if you watched last year, their injuries were bad luck.

I don't think Pikeville hits the portal as much as the portal hits them. State championship rings do more for drawing in transfers than anything else ever could. Pikeville just has to focus on getting back to Pikeville football this off-season and they will continue to win rings and bring talent in. Pikeville stumbled this season, for sure, but they haven't fallen yet. As long as Mac and Sully are there then they are still going to be Pikeville moving forward. I look for them to be a hungry Pikeville again next year, which is a scary prospect for 1A.

I totally get it but woof.

You defend it because the last few years Pikeville has struggled to complete a full 10 game schedule. They are just taking whatever game they can get. Being a perennial strong 1A school is not very inviting for teams due to how the RPI is weighted.

If that’s the schedule, it’s good so far. Need 10 games. RPI will matter and that 10th game is important so long as it is a winnable game. Pikeville has played less than 10 quite often in recent years.

Pikeville and Raceland both have benefited from tough schedules over the last several years. That being said, that way if scheduling is a double edged sword. I think once you establish the mentality of what it takes to get to or win a state championship though, you can take your foot off the gas a little so to speak. Both schools had a great run of athletes the last several years and they had them in bunches. Both saw those schedules come into play though in terms of depth this past year. So finding that middle ground is the key. But as was mentioned before, a quality small school program (especially in EKY) will struggle to find games that they can build on without having to drive all over gods big green one. Teams like Mayfield, Beechwood, LcA, etc, in the past, have bigger and better schools near by. There’s a helluva lot that goes into scheduling beyond the “anyone, anytime, any place” mentality. Especially when preparing for year to year changes in roster size as well as travel expenses

Solid picked up in that Bracken Co game to end the season. Bracken County plays Beechwood the week before this game. Tough stretch for Bracken Co.

As many are, I’m just glad to see Pikeville fill the schedule. They have had a run of some bad luck in that department in recent years.
