Generally the other job for a coach is a teaching position but Iâm not sure if Landon Slone is a certified teacher.
I read that he attended UK, Morehead and Pikeville but it didnât say if he graduated, so maybe someone who knows him could answer this.
I find it odd that he would be shopping around for a new job with Paintsville still in the race for the 15th region title.
I also find it odd he would be looking with the young team he has now.

Just because someone donated money to build locker rooms for a tax write off donât mean they can afford to pay a coach big money year after year, Paintsville might be loaded with cash but i doubt it

So much resentment for a new school; must be a Spurlock troll?

Reciprocal agreement keeps them in money. When itâs gone they need all the donations they can get.

I do not know Landon personally. However, money is important to everyone, however, no one goes into coaching for the money. Paintsville gave him a chance as a young head coach, I think that loyalty and trust goes a long way.

No just realistic what do you think you have?? Be honest here neither AC of SF was a honest regional title contender in years most with the exception of SFs last run they were bottom dwellers . When you put teams together you âthinkâ it helps it doesnât normally they are around the same as the two were previously. Look at East Ridge people thought they would roll. Won the title the first year havnt been much since. The chance for Floyd Central to be something relevant was last year. I donât see them doing much for a long time. Not hate just realistic to say someone like Landon Slone would leave a State Title winning program to coach Floyd Central is as arrogant as it gets.

Funny you mention last year team and Sourlock couldnât get it done then. Must have been the parents?
Seems like Elijah Justice came to Pikeville when the program was in trouble and people were complaining. Wasnât there an incident at a game in the handshake line?
Your dislike for FC is obvious. A winning program starts somewhere; either with a above average group of players at the time or a gritty coach ready to prove himself (also a successful middle school and training leagues).
I guess we will eventually find out if Slone was or was not interested. Doesnât matter because several more are. You say state title winning; are you referring to the Adams player because transfers are a whole different topic. Floyd Central had Fugate and Sammons on their first KBA freshman team.
Thereâs a lot of talent there in the upper class and the middle school players moving up. Iâm a supporter and hope to see the best from them.

Iâm referring to the 96 state title at the regional and all A championship Landon won at painstville. I also hope Floyd Central does great I love floyd county in general I just want them to be realistic. I a firm believer Justin Holbrook is the man for the job. No hate I promise I hope they win every game

Got it. Didnât realize you were referring to the â96 team.

Southeast you don't know a lot about PHS Basketball. Landon wasn't on the 96 State Championship team...he would have been like 8 to 10 years old. Plus, Paintsville has never won an All-A Championship.
As far as loyalty goes, no coach is loyal to the point of turning down a nice increase in pay. Even if they aren't certified to teach. You could be the Custodian Supervisor, In school suspension coordinator, assistant AD...lots of made up titles and before you know it your making 15 to 20K more a year.

Change it to whatever you want. Wonât change the fact that ltâs an L for FC and a W for Paintsville.

You are right about made up titles and bumping the pay up and sometimes they can have several of those titles, but it still helps if your a certified teacher because of the salary plus you can add a few extended days onto a standard 180 day teachers contract. It all depends how bad a school wants a certain coach.
Sometimes a coach leaves a school for other reasons than money, but if he wants to go to somewhere else buy some pizzas and couple of 30 packs and have a going away party, then call Bill Mike out of retirement.
I also find the timing of these rumors are odd with Paintsville still in the running for the 15th regional title.

Dude?
Isn't that a ranch with lots of cowboys? I also know a couple of dogs named Dude! So am I a ranch hand or a dog? Either way, it's not bad, I can live with DUDE! I'm just trying to see where you said tradition.
I’m referring to the 96 state title at the regional and all A championship Landon won at painstville.
Maybe this would work..."I'm referring to tradition like the 96 State Championship, several regional Championships and an All-A Runner-up that took place before Landon played at Paintsville." Is that what you were trying to say DUDE?

This is starting to sound like Bill and Tedâs Excellent Adventure! Dudes!! I hear Floyd Central plans to post the job next week. I donât think we will have to wait too long before we see if any of the rumors are true.
