Paintsville 66 Floyd Central 55
#1
Paintsville ends the Cinderella run of the Jaguars to move on the 15th Region Semi Finals Friday night.
#2
FC up 5 at halftime. Tigers got it going to take lead by 5 at end of 3rd and closed it out in the 4th. Good post season run by the Jags..
#3
Should we change the title to Prestonsburg North beats Floyd Central?
#4
Good run by the millennial jaguars thru post season play, I might add.

If we did that we would have to change the name of every team left.
#6
Pikeville will overlook the Tigers and Paintsville will advance to the finals.

I like that idea
JC VS Pike Central South
North Prestonsburg VS Betsy Layne South

Lol in all seriousness glad it came down to these 4 Friday night will be unreal

Don't limit us to West Prestonsburg. We cover all Floyd County, Martin County, Breathitt County and even across the creek when we fill our roster.

Nice job Tigers.

Absolutely correct. We are not a regional recruiting program. We are international. North Prestonsburg is a slap in the face.

I'm a little surprised by the score in this one. I thought Paintsville would win this one easily, but that was not the case. Hager definitely made some big strides with this fiasco. At least the program is on positive ground going into next season. Good luck on your coaching search. It will be a very important move with the program.

After the close game in Paintsville? Don't count on them overlooking anyone. Justice and his staff will have them completely focused on whoever they play each night. Very athletic and disciplined team with good maturity and ability to focus on task at hand.

I’ve heard the coaching search has ended and Landon Slone will be the new head man, now just wonder how many kids will follow him back to Floyd County
#15
Floyd Central give them a game a for 3 quarters but the Tigers just were too much. Congrats to Paintsville on the win. I’m glad there were no upsets cause now we get the semifinals everyone was hoping for all season long. There will be no excuses you just have to go out and survive.

This region semi will be exciting to watch. Slone to FC would be a good fit.

I just can’t see Landon leaving Paintsville right now. He graduated from Paintsville and they are set for talent for at least the next 3 years. Although there may be other circumstances that might make him want to leave.

Floyd Central will have to throw the bank at Landon to get him to leave Paintsville.

He has no loyalty to Floyd county nor should he. He’s a painstville boy now and I don’t blame him a bit. There isn’t a chance in hell he would leave that place. They are loaded for years to come.
Painstville lives and breathes Their sports programs I make jokes about “North Prestonsburg” but it’s in good fun. I don’t blame one kid that went there

. Isn’t he from Floyd Co. Before going to paintsville?

Yea, he grew and lived in Floyd co. Went to MCA in Martin

I’ve heard that he was offered a substantial amount of money more than he’s making at Paintsville

Do you not realize that isn’t possible?? County schools can’t just offer coaches what they want. It’s regulated they arnt a private Company they pay what the board of education allows. Coach at Floyd Central makes exactly what the coach at Pburg and BL do
#24
You are exactly right, coaches pay is the same but you do realize their are other ways to add on to your pay, if you think the coach at Scott County makes the same amount as the coach at Pike Central just because they are both public schools, well that’s just dumb and i guarantee that FC has more money than Paintsville, if I’m not mistaken the only job he has at Paintsville is as coach, bottom line if they want you their are ways to enhance your pay
#25
Never going to happen. The superintendent lives in Pikeville. He is not going to give more money to a coach at Floyd Central and slight Betsy Layne and Prestonsburg. Not good political sense. It will be an underwhelming hire. Not enough talent to attract a big name coach and too many problem parents.

Floyd Central has more money than paintsville????? 😂😂😂😂🤦🏻*♂️ Have you seen paintsvilles locker rooms? You have got to be kidding me man. City school boosters all the tradition no real limits on what they can play. No way in hell Floyd Central could touch paintsville financially
#27
Your screen name is misleading. He was hired as a teacher this school year at the elementary school.
#28
When it comes to coaching changes the finding of extra money is never the problem. There are always ways to make it happen that are totally within the legal limits.

Another shot at the parents so I will again point out that Kevin Spurlock was the issue. He was accused of bullying players and admitted to a verbal confrontation with a fan. Has Landon Slone or any other current 15th region coach had this on their record? I’m curious.

Floyd Central has plenty of returning talent. Players will return and transfer in because of a new coach. Paintsville had not been to the region in years until Slone stepped in. So your point about ‘not enough talent to attract a big name coach’ is invalid and petty.

The Jaguars are back to back district champs and SF made three straight region appearances. Magoffin County and Sheldon Clark are both trending down; giving Paintsville and JC top spots.

Any coach that’s applies for Floyd Central will have a good starting point. I’ve heard there are several that are applying including ones close to this years team. I guess the parent argument is to keep the conversation away from the truth about the former coach.
#30
I do t think he would take it but they could always give him another job to supplement money. Happens all the time. Spurlock was a teacher and coached three sports. That’s common practice to help bump up a coaches salary
Though again even with family ties up this way I do t see him leaving JC “lite”
